  1. Holy shit! I've actually stood at that intersection. Those monkeys are fierce. This board really has everything.
  2. I think it's great that we're seeing Ohtani at this point in his career in the States and that we didn't have to wait until his late twenties to see his debut. I spent ten summers over in Japan watching a lot of baseball over there and you don't see too many Japanese guys with this kind of body. Size wise, he kind of reminds me of Kazuhiro Kiyohara but obviously a better version. Can't wait to see this kid play in early August in Arlington.
  3. Reinhart's got to be over the moon. Imagine going from Buffalo, New York to Sunrise, Florida.
  4. Hard to watch Shigeo Nagashima struggle to walk with Matsui. One of the all-time great ball players. Very important figure in Japanese sports history. And it would have been nice if the NBC commentator could have figured out who was who in that deal. Oh well.
  5. Great info. Thanks. Where all did you visit in Peru?
  6. Bumping this thread for an update. Looking at doing a Peru/Ecuador/Colombia trip this fall but not sure what's going on with the lockdowns. Possible to cross borders overland right now? Tech.....what are you paying on average per night on accommodations? Thanks
  7. The post whistle scrums are a damned embarrassment to the sport at this point. Somehow hockey has gone from bare-knuckle fisticuffs to The Three Stooges.
  8. Merrill and Gustafson are completely fucking useless. Meanwhile, Romanov sits. It's bizarre. Romanov is a hard-hitting solid d-man. Gustafson is brutal. Coughing up the puck left and right in their own end, even on the powerplay. Bizarre that they dress him just so he can skate the puck up the center of the ice and drop it back to Suzuki or KK. Anybody can do that.....what a waste of a roster spot. Romanov could be a bit like Sergachev out there. Tough to play against, solid on the puck, but they won't play him. Guess that Sergachev for Drouin deal didn't really work out for the Habs.
  9. Habs fans have got to be the most arrogant bastards I've ever been around but I'll be glad to put up with it considering they've knocked out the fuggin Golden Knights. Almost as lame a franchise as the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Christ.
  10. My God.....this country is a cesspool. Great vids though.
  11. Not sure what to make of Wendy living in a van at Cracker Barrel. Sad deal. A few weeks ago, went out to West Palm Beach to visit some friends. They live one block from the Howard Stern compound and have seen Beth out exercising but no Howard. I had no idea he lived out there. His place is a super compound. Nothing but massive trees. Kind of weird knowing Howard was just a block away in his basement pleasuring himself to babysitter porn.
  12. Vegas/Colorado should wipe the floor with the Habs. Christ, that series looked like slow-motion compared to the Vegas games. Would love to see Montreal knock out Vegas. Man, I hate the fuggin Knights and their silly white mitts.
  13. Love him or hate him, you gotta give Don Cherry some credit on this one. He said two weeks ago on his podcast the Leafs wouldn't get past Price. Good call.
  14. Anybody follow Stars prospects? Went to my first Texas Stars game tonight being in Austin. Texas scored with 1.4 left in the game against Iowa and then scored on a breakaway in OT. Crazy finish. Impressive game day experience from the organization. Impressed with Riley Tufte. 6’6 winger with great hands. Interesting project for Dallas. Too bad he can’t find more of the back of the net.
  15. Nomadland - loved it and think it's the best I've seen this year. Maybe a toss up with Minari. Have heard lots of people complain about the slow pace of the film but I think that captures the monotony of life on the road. Lots of boredom and loneliness. Really well made
  16. Love Mr. Baseball, an often forgotten baseball film. Excellent job of capturing Japanese baseball (shot in Nagoya at the home of the Chunichi Dragons). Nippon games are lots of fun if you ever find yourself over there.
  17. Watched 'Minari'. Good work. Does a great job portraying the immigrant experience....although the local Americans were a little over the top.....but turn about is fair play, I suppose, with stereotypes. Appreciate how it showed the crap work immigrants have to do. Like someone told me a long time ago.....'It doesn't matter what you did before you came here. When you come to America, you go to the back of the line and start all over'. The trailer to Nomadland looks fantastic. Hitting it next.
  18. Agreed. The 'flashlight' line was solid. The only other time I actually laughed was the James Earl Jones line 'THIS....is ZNN'. I don't know why....but that garnered a chuckle.
  19. Beauty geno.....and he had a ton a 5-hole there as well.
  20. Dang. I remember Pete Lopresti visiting Dallas when he was with the Oklahoma City Stars and Wichita Wind....so this hits close to home.
  21. Thanks for posting. Good stuff. I keep in touch with several guys that played for the Dallas Black Hawks at the ol Fair Park. Gonna share this one. I miss old time hockey.
  22. Oddly enough, those uniforms didn't look bad in person (from a distance) but looked horrendous on the fans wearing them. I'm old school. Have a home sweater and an away sweater......get back to normal numbers (2-7 on defenseman, 8-19 on forwards, 1 and 30 on keepers) and play the damned game. (I know, so many retired numbers.......but how many 57's and 82's and 49's does Detroit need? Are you playing right wing or right tackle?)
  23. This is the first time I've seen a Steve Buscemi movie where he actually survives a full length film.
