  1. I think we're witnessing a legit Conn Smythe performance out of Lehner. Speaking of goaltending, it's been fun watching the youngsters in this year's tournament. Demko is an intriguing keeper moving forward.
  2. Impressed with how the Stars can win close ones. The seventh one goal win in 10 wins in the bubble. Must be nerve-wracking being a Dallas fan.
  3. Boy, is Dallas benefitting from adding some veteran leadership in that dressing room. Here's my prediction for the rest of the playoffs: The Canadians will continue to run a first-rate tournament with zero infections. Tampa will win the Cup over Vegas in six. The idiots in Florida will throw a massive championship parade with no masks or social distancing. Covid, be damned.
  4. Great series. Congrats to the Rockets. Hopefully Westbrook and Harden can finally get that ring. Beat LA!
  5. I should of said not getting past Tampa. You're right that they're peaking at the right time. They're really clicking and playing disciplined right now (exception being that tripping call in the OT). But Tampa seems like the team this year.....as much as I hate to say that. Would love to see an Isles/Canucks final
  6. As an OKC fan, I think Houston wins game 7. Too much talent. But I think the most surreal aspect of this series has been coming over and reading the criticisms of Westbrook and Harden. It was so frustrating watching Russ year after year. Have to say I enjoyed the end of that Game 6.
  7. The Isles are fun to watch. I don't think I've ever - in 40 years - met an Islanders fan outside of New York.....but I'm thinking they may have some fans this summer. Hopefully they can get past Philly and Tampa but I'm not expecting it.
  8. We're gonna get stuck with a stinkin Tampa-Vegas Cup final.....unfortunately. Fanbases in Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba deserve a Cup much more than the fans in places like Florida, Nevada and - sorry - Texas. Damn shame.
  9. Personally, I find the idea of remaking PT&A completely ridiculous. Having said that, one thing I've learned from having a black partner for many years is this.......black folks aren't huge fans of white comedians. I'm not sure why this is. Kind of in the same way men aren't huge fans of female comedians. Go to a Dave Chappell, Cedric the Entertainer, Chris Rock live show and you'll find lots of white folks in the audience. Go to a Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan, Brian Regan, Steve Martin show.....no black folks. (Don't get me started on Gary Owen) I think this carries over to black remakes of 'white' films. Doesn't seem like the payout would be worth it but it's made Tyler Perry a very rich man.
  10. Well, as a Thunder fan, I just wanna say you guys played of a hell of a series. I knew we weren't gonna get past you. See you next season.
  11. I was overseas throughout most of Clinton's administration and pretty much all of George W. I did on rare occasions meet Americans who claimed they would not go back to the States as long as Clinton/Bush was in office. I always thought that was kind of ridiculous. I can't imaging leaving a country because of the Prez. So I move back to the States just prior to the 2016 election. I'm no Trump fan in the slightest but I wouldn't leave the States over his term. Having said that, I would certainly leave because of the clowns that worship him. It's weird. Look at all the people here that seriously believe a) Michelle Obama used to be/is a man, b) Bill Gates plans to inject everyone with a microchip and c) Tom Hanks escaped to Greece due to the fact he's a pedo. Guess who 100% of those people will vote for in November. I'm shocked with the number of people who seriously believe this stuff.....and it's enough to say 'I'm out'. I'm convinced your average Canadian/Briton/Japanese is smarter than your average American. Or maybe I've just been in Oklahoma too long.
  12. "You're dealing with a fully qualified male strumpet!!!"
  13. My apologies. Tokyo, Okinawa, Bangkok, Koh Samui, Budapest. Really missing the islands lately.
  14. That will be a fun project. My dad has an '85 Scottsdale that he's owned forever. Completely original, 70,000 miles.....and he almost never drives it anymore. This things like a time machine.
  15. Sorry, but they'll always be the 'McKrackens' to me.
  16. Not getting it from a specific source, just speculation and from following minor league hockey for 40 years. Distance has killed plenty of teams and leagues for years. Adding Salt Lake City was the beginning of the end for the IHL and distance proved to be the death blow for the old Central Hockey League. Five years ago, the A had teams in Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Oklahoma City. Now only one of those teams remain. Austin works out beautifully for Dallas but I can see the rest of the league pushing for a relocation out west at some point. Hard to believe twenty years ago, Texas had pro hockey in San Angelo, Abilene, Amarillo, Waco, Houston, Killeen, Austin, Fort Worth, El Paso, etc. etc.....and they're all gone. Amazing how quickly minor league hockey lost its luster.
  17. Random question but what's the skinny on the future of the Texas Stars? With the San Antonio Rampage moving to Nevada, I assume it's a matter of time before the Stars move that team westward. Curious what the latest is with that.
  18. Interesting thread. I have to be honest, I've been back in the US now for almost 6 years and I really think I'm getting close to pushing off. I love so much about America.....the food, sports, the weather, the comforts, the National Parks, the street rod scene, the great cities, little luxuries like having a DRYER, seeing my parents every day, etc. etc. The big problem I have with America is simply the people. I'm actually getting to the point where I'm just getting burned out on Americans. The entitlement, the constant unsolicited opinions, the victimhood, the complete lack of self-awareness. I could go on and on. There are lots of good people in the States....but the selfishness here drives me bananas. People here are so about themselves. It's the Land Of The Me. You can't tell anybody here what to do regardless if it's for the common good. I spent 18 years mostly in Asia with people that realize a simple thing like wearing a mask is the best thing for the common good of the society. It's 'we', not 'me'. These fuggin American assholes are more worried about ridiculous conspiracy theories and 'liberal media' outlets. GTFO. If you don't want to wear a motorcycle helmet or a seatbelt, cool. I honestly don't care at all if you die in a motorcycle wreck. Free country. But when you refuse to take measures to protect others? That's where I have a problem. You just knew the Americans were going to completely screw up this Covid deal. Did you ever have that friend in your 20's that was just constant drama and at a certain point you just had to cut that person out of your life? Man, that's where I'm at with this country. I've never lived anywhere with this amount of constant drama. It's honestly no wonder so many people here suffer from depression and anxiety. The culture is completely nuts.
  19. Are there any Vietnam/Afghanistan/Iraq war veterans in this thread? Reason I ask, I never hear war vets in the States bitch about the heat. If you have a/c in your car, house, mall, grocery store, office, etc.....what's the big deal about living in Phoenix/Tucson? It's not 1922.
  20. Are they saying much on local radio/TV on the prospects of fans attending games, or is that extremely unlikely at this point?
  21. I enjoyed this film. As per the location, I honestly thought it was filmed entirely in Vietnam but, upon further inspection, looks like a lot of it was filmed around Chiang Mai. Having said that, there was quite a bit filmed around Saigon. Nguyen Hue Blvd, The American War Crimes Museum towards the end. The Apocalypse Now Club brought back serious memories. I remember that place in the 90's when it was a bar, dance floor and two pool tables. They've really fixed it up. Quite possibly the easiest place in the world to pick up women.
  22. Da 5 Bloods, new Spike Lee movie on Netflix. I enjoyed it. Shot entirely in Vietnam. Good job capturing the beauty of the country as well as hitting HCMC landmarks like The Apocalypse Now Club (good times in there), Nguyen Hue Blvd, and the American War Crimes Museum. Solid acting. The third act got a bit ridiculous but I enjoyed the trip.
  23. Had an older white guy corner me with this statement.... 'You know, companies don't hire white men anymore.' 'Hmm. That's an interesting thing to say, you know, here at work.' 'Well, YOU KNOW what I mean.'
  24. Big fan of Jokic. You need to check out his recent weight loss. A different guy.
