  1. And again our DBs are 7 yards off on 4th and 5.
  2. Good Lord, Card. Make the fucking throw.
  3. Yep. Terry Joseph has never been known to be a particularly good coach of the position.
  4. It’s not just that. Our back 7 still doesn’t understand how to play zone and pass guys off even in quarters, which is a base scheme. These are coaching issues, not talent issues.
  5. That would’ve been an easy 3rd down conversion if they threw. We played 10 yards off and bailed. Their slot WR had no one near him on a curl at the first down yardage.
  6. The only thing I don’t like about this game is how open WVU receivers get when we don’t get immediate pressure. Way too many coverage lapses from the back 7.
  7. Really nice job of Card moving in the pocket but keeping his eyes downfield. Card could’ve executed it better, but that’s a lot of progress from him.
  8. aggy is so freaking lucky that DE couldn’t stay on his feet. An 80 yard scoop and score would’ve been hilarious.
  9. So Nahlin goes from saying Wilson isn’t good a couple months ago to now saying tOSU is poaching him from our class. Never change, Nahlin. Never change.
  10. Not sure why you’re being such a dumbass about all this. The Football Board has this thing all figured out. Just run the crap out of our backup QB with a hurt ankle, who’s fast but not actually a good runner and very undersized, and then when he inevitably gets hurt, you can rush back the star QB, significantly increasing his chance of re-injuring his shoulder and being out for the season.
  11. We run a decent amount of play action. I don’t think amount of PA is a problem and our pass blocking has actually been very good this year. Sark particularly liked PA with max protect and a deep shot, but that’s pretty useless with Card. I think the biggest issue with Sark’s playcalling is he doesn’t usually build on concepts throughout the game. If you watch Shanahan, LaFleur, McVey, Riley, etc. they show looks early in games to build to different plays off the same look later in the game. Sark is extremely good at his 15 play script to open the game, but his play calling becomes pretty predictable and bland a lot of times after that point. For instance, against Tech we killed them with the 3 back sets and then never used it again despite our O going completely flat the whole second half. He should’ve brought that package back out and run different stuff out of it to liven up the O when we were bogged down. It is hard though, because Card is horrible at seeing the middle of the field and he’s schemed TEs and slot receivers wide open over the middle only for Card to just completely miss them or be late making the throw. So a lot of the stuff he’s calling is working, but Card doesn’t execute it. And that’s the hard part, because there’s very little Card can execute well and we don’t have the OL to just line up and run it down their throat. I’ve said it before, but people underestimate how limited Card is in his reads and progressions. His flaws go way beyond just the bad plays he makes. His biggest flaw is all the good plays he misses. Having said all that (tldr, I know), the Tech loss was inexcusable and was primarily due to shitty coaching on both sides of the ball.
  12. Max’s outburst in quali made me wonder what it’s be like if he drove for Ferrari. The team radio would be gold every single week.
  13. It’s not just Hutson. Conner and Majors are also terrible run blockers and Banks isn’t all that great either. Just swapping out Hutson won’t fix it.
  14. We don’t have a potent running game because our OL is horrible at run blocking. It’s not as simple as just run the ball more.
  15. Well, if it makes you feel any better, you don’t need to be nervous, because your idea is really fucking stupid.
  16. You’re really mixing up priorities here. The defense has been the worst part of our team two years in a row. If they improve, most of these second half concerns would be non-existent.
  17. It was reported they passed on Windmon, which was really fucking stupid if true.
  18. I think I’ve pinpointed what’s wrong with Dunlap’s OL grades because they’ve seemed off for a while. He focuses too much on guys giving up negative plays/disruptions and not enough on how well they execute their assignments. Guys like Conner and Majors get absolutely no push in the run game and his grades don’t seem to reflect that enough. We have not had 4 OL playing at a decent level this year, despite his grades routinely coming out that way. I have no idea what you’re talking about, but Conner has sucked shot through a straw at run blocking every game this year. He was terrible run blocking against ULM, especially considering the competition. I think PFF’s grades are more accurate on Conner and Majors than Dunlap’s. He routinely grades those two out at good to very good, which is just flat out wrong.
  19. The pass rush has been noticeably better this year and they’re absolutely letting the DL get after it. If you think they’re coaching/scheming the DL the same as last year then I’m not sure what games you’re watching. We’ll never have a great pass rush with our edge group, but pressures are generally more predictive of future sack numbers than sacks, so I expect our sack numbers to pick up some moving forward.
  20. You’re just flat out wrong in this one. Our DL controlled the LOS in the run game and our DTs were getting excellent push in the pocket all game. The only failure of the DL were our edges in pass rushing, which isn’t a surprise since our edge group is absolutely horrible. It was a massive failure by this staff to not be able to land a guy like Drew Sanders or Windmon from the portal.
  21. I agree Card wasn’t the reason we lost but people need to stop oversimplifying Card’s limitations. It’s not just the deep ball. He has horrible pocket presence and only throws to open guys because he can’t anticipate. He also misses open guys constantly. There have been a ton of plays with guys running wide fucking open where Card just holds the ball. Another symptom of all this is he rarely throws over the middle. On top of that, his ankle is still hurt, so you can’t run him. When you take all those things into account and factor in that our OL is terrible at run blocking, there’s not a whole lot of options for Sark with our current O. It’s not nearly as simple as people try to make it. Having said that, Sark absolutely has baked for the loss. He should have been more creative in the second half against Tech. Our 3 RB package got a TD in 3 plays on the first drive and Sark never went back to it. Obviously Sark needs to beat WVU even if Card is starting, but your example just shows you don’t know what you’re talking about. Jalon Daniels is easily one of the best QBs in CFB. No way Kansas beats WVU without him.
  22. That’s what happens when you play soft, off coverage on basically every meaningful down. Our pass defense was absolutely pathetic.
  23. Nope. This was a pitiful performance that looked just like lay year’s team. Horrible coaching on both sides of the ball.
