  1. While I agree with all this, we could also just put it to a vote, like r/CFB did a few years ago to see who’s the real UT
  2. His draft stock is low right now, but if he can play all year and have good production, that combined with his athleticism and recruiting pedigree will at least get him drafted. If he comes back next year, he still won’t be the first option on the team and if he gets hurt again, he’s probably not getting drafted. It’s also notable that his numbers with Quinn are way better than Card. His best games are 7-64 against Bama and 5-97 against OU. I believe 5 or 6 of his catches in the Bama game were on the first two drives with Quinn playing. So his numbers will probably be a lot better by the end of the season with Ewers.
  3. Whittington’s not a good example. With his injury history, he absolutely needs to declare after this year if he plays a full season. Coming back next year and getting injured would really hurt his draft stock.
  4. And 5-1 could lead to us winning the conference and playing in a NY6 bowl. I’m shocked you failed to mention that.
  5. Comping what we’ve seen from Ewers so far to Anthony Richardson and a freshman Rattler is really fucking stupid. This guy has no clue what he’s talking about.
  6. I didn’t know that. Now I feel like a bit of a jerk.
  7. I will say that even with all those issues, me and some friends got GA and went all three days and had a blast. The water issue on Sunday sucked, but otherwise it was a great time even though it was very packed and there were very long lines for food. Parking and walking about a mile to the track was a game changer and made the whole thing way better. It took about 20 minutes each way, but once you get to your car, you can get out of there with almost no traffic and save 1-2 hours each way.
  8. Yep. He’s 22, 29, and 39 on the other 3 services while Rivals has him at 122. Hmm I wonder who’s wrong on this one? I wish 247 or On3 would offer a composite where you can exclude Rivals rankings. They’ve been god awful for years, yet somehow manage to keep getting worse.
  9. I’m not surprised they’re saying this, but even if true, it will still be a huge shit show. Last year they ran out of water about halfway through the race on Sunday and there were no free water stations to be found even though they claimed they had them. Shuttle and Uber is impossible out there. I’ve parked in one of the neighborhoods about a mile away and just walked. It’s about 1-2 hours quicker than just about any other option, unless you want to pay stupid amounts of money for the premium parking spots.
  10. why set your sights so low? Forget Moore, y’all should check with Belichek first to see if he’s interested in the OU OL job.
  11. Points per drive is more variable game to game. Stop rate is thought to be more predictive of future defensive success. Similar to pressures being more predictive of sacks than actual sack numbers.
  12. Not likely. He’s probably transferring if he loses to Arch. He wouldn’t get to start until his 4th or 5th year at that point.
  13. It’s a lot of the same concepts, but he’s added a lot more motion and RPO elements since USC. He also employs more 2 TE sets, which helps him vary the formations and looks he gives the defense. I think he picked up some of the 2 TE and motion stuff from what Shanahan did before Sark got to Atlanta, and the RPO was added based on what Kiffin did at Bama before he got there.
  14. Based on how their on track rulings go, I expect the FIA to give RBR some meaningless penalties like some wind tunnel time/CFD restriction and then strip the next team who goes over by a million of all constructor and driver points for the year.
  15. Not sure what you mean. He’s a 4 star on three services, and Rivals having him as an unranked 3 star gives me the most confidence of them all.
  16. I think that has more to do with OU's run D being one of the worst in the country. We'd need to see improved play against a better opponent before we can really call the OU game an improvement by our OL.
  17. We'll probably be favorites in every individual game, but the odds we go undefeated the rest of the year are low. We have too many quality teams left on the schedule and Sark's teams usually struggle on the road. If we can go 5-1 over our next 6, we'll have a good chance of making the conference championship game.
  18. No he wasn’t. Jalon Daniels started against us, not Bean.
  19. Nope. Our OL is above average. We're an elite pass blocking unit, and we're 50/131 in OL yards, which is a run blocking stat.
  20. I hope you're right. We have a good pass blocking OL. We do not have a good run blocking OL, so we will have to pass early and often to avoid 3rd and longs into that 8 man drop. This game is going to be all about Quinn. We will have to throw a lot to be effective, and there won't be a ton of easy, open throws against their D. Quinn will need to be patient and take what is there. He's been a mixed bag in that regard, so this game will be telling of where he's at mentally. I think there's a good chance he rises to the occasion. The other thing to watch is how well we do scoring TDs. Heacock's defenses give up raw yardage, but they almost always tighten up in the red zone and force field goals. Once again, ISU's D is top 15 in the country in points per scoring opportunity. Our offense is top 10 in that category, so it will be an interesting mix of strength versus strength. The one thing I'll say is that Sark will need to stay creative with play calling in the RZ. It seems like he tends to call inside runs a lot in critical downs and the RZ the last two years. That won't work against ISU, so Sark needs to bring his A game play calling-wise.
  21. I'm having a hard time believing the composite of the advanced metrics have us at 4th overall when Hudson Card has taken the majority of the snaps for us, and I still have doubts about situational coaching on both offense and defense, which isn't very effectively factored into these advanced metrics. But if we're 4th overall at this point, you'd expect we'll only rise with Ewers playing from here on out. He'll obviously help the offense, but he'll help the defense too, since we're much less likely to go 3 and out for almost an entire half like we did against Tech. Tech quit respecting the pass in the second half and that led to them causing 3 3 and outs and a total of 6 of 7 drives without a TD in 2nd half and overtime. Teams cant do that with Ewers, so it should help us put games away, which we've been abysmal at with Thompson and Card the last two years. Unadjusted EPA has us at 21st, which feels more like how we've played so far. With that said, we've had a much tougher schedule than most teams ahead of us in EPA, and unadjusted EPA is not a predictive stat, whereas S&P+, FEI etc. are, so we should expect better results for the rest of the year, even if you didn't factor in a healthy Ewers, which is obviously a massive boost in its own right. If you look at opponent adjusted EPA, we're top 10, right around top 5. I'm sure if you only took the plays where Ewers has played, we'd be easily top 5. So despite the frustrations of this season and being only 4-2 and 2-1 in the Big 12. Tl;dr: When healthy, this is by far the best team Texas has had since 2010, we are a top 5 team in the country, and a clear favorite in the Big 12, which is a hard thing for me to accept after watching the last 12 years of UT football. Also, look at the SEC chart in the first tweet. They're in a 3 way tie for 9th in the SEC right now, and I'd say you would expect them to drop to 11th or 12th moving forward with all their QB injuries.
  22. The most interesting thing about this matchup is our defense is 5th in the country not allowing a 1st and 1st or 2nd down. Their offense is 125th in the country in doing so, so they should be forced into a ton of 3rd and 4th down conversion attempts. Their QB is not good, so we should be able to stop them most of the time, Tech game notwithstanding. Also on that point, our D is up to 57th in the country stopping 3rd and 4th downs, so the Tech game will hopefully be the major outlier this season, but I still don’t really trust our play calls in those situations at this point.
  23. Those pff mocks are done to promote their player grades. They’re usually way off.
