wait, but i was told Kyle Flood really wanted to replace Jake Majors a the first opportunity he had! i was told he's terrible! i was told he's no good!

BOW’s crusade against Majors this offseason looks even dumber now than it did last year, which is really saying something because he came off as a total regard last offseason.

  2. So an Italian reporter who knows the Ferrari engine modes watched the onboard of Charles day 3 runs and says Ferrari ran close to a race-spec engine mode (race engine, lower ERS) on Day 3 to induce tire deg because they weren’t getting much in conservative modes on Day 2 with Carlos. Someone compared Charles 3rd lap in the 2023 race to his 3rd lap in the race sim on Day 3 with the same tire. He actually lost some time on the straight due to clipping, so if he had been running full race mode, he would’ve been about 1.5 seconds faster than last year. Ferrari completely fucked up their 2023 car, but it’s still crazy to think they’ve gained about 1.5 seconds in race pace over last year with a much better idea how to develop this year.

Bernie Collins said when the tests were held in Spain the teams would bring new parts every day. Those parts would be installed based on what the car did the previous day. Testing this far away from base with such a short lead time to the 1st race has changed that metric considerably. I won't be at all surprised to see a few 1.5 spec cars show up by FP2.

In other news, ugh, Liberty Media coming to a MotoGP near you?

Yeah, testing in Bahrain is similar to all the street tracks. Sacrificing quality for big fat paychecks. it’s even more complicated because the first Europe race isn’t until Race 7, so you have to bring updates at somewhere like Australia, Japan, or China unless you want a third of the season to slip away.

Ferrari has already said they’ll have some minor updates for Thursday and then a big update package for Japan.

Im sure lots of other teams will be doing something similar. RB is rumored to be going with a zero pod update by Japan, which is race 4 this year. Supposedly they had a bunch of space between their reconfigured radiators and the sidepod ay testing, so technical folks are surmising they’re planning a zero pod-type design.

From Autosport re: Vegas. LOL, what starts here & all that:

Also, some testing analysis from a poster that I thought was interesting:

The telemetry and speed traps made it look like Verstappen had his engine way tuned down. certainly more so that Leclerc and others. He was one of the slowest in the speed traps on those stints. So probably need to add another .2/.3 to everyone else’s times to adjust for engine mode. I’ll be beyond shocked if the gap between Verstappen and Ferrari is only .3.

  5. Interesting graph of Sainz race sim from Day 2 and Leclerc’s from Race 3. Neither of them refueled for these so they are actual race sims. Looks like Ferrari is finding the limits for tire deg. Leclerc clearly pushed more on his stints, which caused more deg later in the stints. According to an Italian reporter, Lecerc’s race sim was 18 seconds faster than Sainz. It goes to show that between engine mode, fuel load and how much a driver is actually pushing can drastically change times and tire deg. In other words, we still know absolutely nothing other than Max will win WDC with about 8 races left.

  6. I have about one more week to be hopeful/optimistic as a Ferrari fan and then I’ll have to shift my attention towards 2025.

Ever since Vasseur got to Ferrari, he’s talked about understanding the car, mainly in terms of tyre degradation and a predictable base to build from. Ferrari ran some long race sims today, and their times were insanely consistent lap over lap. Sainz stayed in the low 37s for about 17 laps. Last year, Ferrari’s tires would fall off after 7-8 laps. They’ve never showed this type of easiness on the tires since about 2017. Red Bull look to be ahead of the pack with all their innovations this year, but I’m cautiously optimistic Ferrari will be the clear second team with this kind of tire deg.

The other thing Vasseur changed last year was hiring a new head of strategy, and Ferrari’s strategy was notably better last year.

Finally, a lot of technical experts have noted that the current Ferrari aero is fairly basic, and Ferrari have talked about wanting to confirm correlation on track before they bring more changes. Their head of technical said they already have updates in the wind tunnel that could be ready 4-5 races into the season. If this car continues to be predictable and easy on its tires, they could start to bring some pace improvements rather quickly.

I don't watch enough UNC football to say, but Maye seems to be a slightly better version than Howell.

Well, you got one thing right in your entire post.

  8. I have no idea if anything in this report is accurate, but it’s pretty insane if true. If Horner really is offering 650k, then there’s some real evidence/legitimacy to the claims. The article makes it sound like Horner would’ve been fired to at least suspended but the Thais who own 51% of Red Bull are in Horner’s corner no matter what and won’t allow it.

    F1 always brings the drama.

Sweat will measure a few inches shorter than Davis did (6’6, 341), but the biggest difference will be their overall athleticism testing. Davis ran a 4.78 40 and broad jumped 10’3 (the former is rare air, while the latter was a record for a player over 300 pounds). Those two items are why he was drafted 13th - athletic potential.

However, I think Sweat is a better player and agree he’s more disruptive.

Yeah, his measurables certainly jumped him up, but 40 time is absolutely irrelevant to his play, and broad jump is also pretty useless if the guy hasn’t actually exhibited much explosiveness or disruptiveness in his game film. It was a dumb pick at the time by the Eagles even without the benefit of hindsight.

In August and November he didn't have Sweat in his top 50, but I remember listening to him say during the season that he liked Sweat more than Jordan Davis, as similar architypes. He seems to put a cap on DTs who aren't consistent pass rushing threats

Jordan Davis definitely seems like the comp to me, but I think Sweat is quite a bit more disruptive. Davis went 13th. I doubt Sweat goes that high, because Davis was overdrafted at 13.

Sweat has a  good chance to sneak into the first round IMO. His film this year was absolutely elite despite not being a huge pass rusher. He’s kind of like the defensive version of an elite Guard or Center. His position caps his value, but you know you’re getting a great player. The Ravens took Tyler Lindenbaum 25th a couple years ago. I could see something similar to that for Sweat.

Starting at 25, the Packers, Bills, Lions, Ravens, and Chiefs could all be potential landing spots for him.

Has Brugler always been that high on Sweat or is this a post-Senior Bowl jump in the rankings for him? It seems like Sweat had a good showing at the Senior Bowl and may climb a lot of peoples’ lists.

Talking heads always need things to talk about, and this 49ers OT thing looks like one of those classic overblown stories. It starts with two players flippantly saying they didn't know the rule and turns into "Kyle Shanahan failed to prepare his team so they lost in OT." Can someone explain to me how Arik Armstead would play differently if he "knew the rule"? Did he let the Chiefs score a TD because he thought it'd help the 49ers win? Did he play with hesitation not knowing the rule and thinking maybe the defenses goal was to not stop the offense? I'm pretty positive after the Patriots-Falcons Super Bowl a Patriots player said he didn't know the overtime rule, but I can't find it after a quick search. But, there is this. I guess Mecole probably slept through all the meetings the Chiefs had on it.

“Can I tell a quick funny story? I threw a touchdown to this dude to end the game, and he had no idea,” Mahomes said, with his arm around Hardman. “I said, ‘Dude, we just won the Super Bowl.’ He had no idea. He didn’t even celebrate at the beginning.”

    https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/mecole-hardman-didnt-know-overtime-rule-patrick-mahomes-had-to-tell-him-he-won-the-game

lol wut. This would be a non-story if the Niners chose to kick in OT, but the fact their coaching staff clearly made the wrong choice and their players weren’t well-informed about the  OT Rules shows a lack of preparation for by the coaching staff, which is a huge story because it may have swung the outcome of the Super Bowl.

    kelce is the #1

Kelce will be turning 35 next season. He’s not all that relevant to draft considerations or projecting if a WR can become a #1 target down the road.

Are they going to try and run his offense with Milroe ??

They brought Mack from UW.  247 had him as a top 100 recruit and he’s now been in the system for 2 years. There’s a decent chance he beats out Milroe.

Isnt the Bama recruiting class still relatively intact? That is a strong class in spots (DB).

Saban left pretty late in the cycle. I think they’ll see attrition from that class during the spring.

I’m sure he wasn’t just randomly sending dick pics to his employees. Sounds like a setup. Dumb as fuck regardless.

If rumours are true about RB being split between his camp and the helmet fuck, then the helmet camp did whatever they needed to do to get rid of horny. This means adios Checo. Checo to MB for 2025 as number 2 to compliment Russel and spill all the red bull beans to Totto. Checos way of saying fuck you helmet!! Let’s roll!!!!

I can’t decide what’s weirder, you just assuming the only way this could’ve happened was a setup by Helmut Marko or MB picking Checo as their number 2 driver.

I don’t think Checo would crack the top 10 of potential MB replacements.
