He used a lot of words to make Jonah Wilson sound like something other than a complete mediocrity. Don’t worry, Brandon Harris has Kenny Baker’s back when it comes to filling up that DT room! -
Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
closetojumping replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
This is more 2026 than 2025, but the thought is that Turntine is going to scare off any other highly ranked OT prospects from also signing with Texas. Ojo is one of several answers given when this has come up. We need tackles. So Flood needs to have magic and find someone lower ranked that he really likes and can transform into a high quality starter eventually. I’m kind of ambivalent about Flood. I see the growth with some of the guys that you cited and I feel really positive. Then I think about Conner and Majors attempting to run block or Campbell looking like he has less than 2 synapses firing and I get concerned. -
Morbid obesity? Is that a “health issue” or a “health choice”?

Niblack got a $300k deal, didn’t play much and expected more. Good luck to whoever thinks he’s worth it. ATM would be awesome.- 8997 replies

Regarding Hudson, I talked to a friend today who says there actually are demons the player is having to battle. Tech did not want him to leave and gave him a great NIL offer to stay. His camp felt he needed a change of scenery. Unfortunately, the best alternative offer came from ATM and they underestimated the psychological impact of living there. I know that sounds like a bit of troll to get to the College Station punchline, but it’s the truth. Hudson’s camp literally mentioned that there aren’t really any trees there either (comparing it Lubbock). It sounds like the guy needs to get some help and then go play somewhere like Wake Forest or App State. Maybe stay away from Seattle though. -

Sir! You take your revisionist, woke, millennial nonsense and stick it straight up your own billowy asshole. We're not examining the frailty of John Hughes' portrayals of adolescence in white suburban America of the 1980's on this subforum. We won't have it!* *Also, Susannah Gora breaks all of that down pretty interestingly in this book from like 15 years ago: "You Couldn't Ignore Me If You Tried: The Brat Pack, John Hughes, and Their Impact on a Generation" -
Yeah, as we've discussed for ATM, LSU and OU, the kind of attrition at Bama that they're seeing isn't healthy in terms of it not being a new coaching situation. Even still, let's say Daboer thinks he's doing great work by cleaning house - these are all Nick Saban recruited and evaluated players. It's not like the guy was brining in garbage or anything close to that. For 2025, they brought in 8 transfers, mostly guys that weren't playing at prior schools or weren't starters. They lost 24 guys, most ranked way higher than those they brought in, some of whom were starters at Bama. That's a net loss of 16 guys with mostly higher pedigrees leaving versus coming into the building. For 2024, they added 14 guys and lost 31. That's more than 50 Saban Era players in 14 months leaving to find greener pastures. 54 guys, a few of whom are walk-ons. Heading into 2025, there's less than 25 Saban recruited players on the Bama roster. Of the 54 exits, many were starters at Bama. They lost a starting OT, TB, several WRs, Edge, LB, and DT to the 2025 portal. Double digit players that left Bama in the 2024 cycle started for their new colleges or they played significant roles. Bond, J Brooks, Downs, Amos, Kite, Ricks, Preston, R Williams, Benson, Holstein, McLaughlin, at the least, played starter this past season for new teams. I didn't check on a bunch of others with whom I was less familiar, but there could be more.

Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Stop Being Poor

@billfromlaketravis does this for free. I would take the first half of the 2024 for Bond any and every day. The entire recruitment of Shannon was that of "come in, we'll develop you into a starter if you show patience, we are going to need an in-line blocker". He was lowly regarded, but we talked about his potential value in that context on this site. We know they can develop guys, so hopefully we get to see that from him this season. We need to see that. As basically the second to last guy taken in a great class, getting value out of Shannon would be major bonus money, similar to Helm. E Winston is another guy who was lowly regarded during this past cycle, since we're thinking about lowly rated TEs for a second. I couldn't get a positive thought for the guy from others except the throwaway line offered regularly of "Banks must see something". He's got great hands and seeks contact. He's just 6'1 but weighs like 240. It would be cool if they actually used him in some H-back or Fullback scheming, but that's likely just fan fiction on my part. If they don't, though, I don't know why in the hell they recruited the guy. All of the recruiting write-ups on him basically said that he could be an outstanding weapon for the right scheme, wherever that is, because of his twitch, ball skills, and general anger on the field. -

Right now, somewhere, Sydney is almost certainly masturbating furiously to the confirmation of Niblack’s departure. Why the hell would anyone want to be a part of our group? If I could find a better class of losers to hang out with, I’d have left years ago. We’re a confederacy of dunces if there ever was one. They clearly thought the same in pursuing the Purdue TE. That said, the word all fall and continuing this winter is that unless someone is of seriously high caliber, they’re going to mostly stand pat. If they like what they’re working with this spring, it would take someone special for them to make a move. Agbo still being on the roster probably helps. -
I was listening to the SEC channel on XM today during chauffeur hours for me. They had the PBP guy on for Bama and discussed the basketball team for a bit. Then Doering and Burns brought up the football team and the outlook for 2025. It’s always interesting to me when insiders for other programs get to forecasting and this session didn’t disappoint. The guy, Chris Stewart, couldn’t have sounded more entitled. While he admitted to having no clue who would be the starter at QB, he declared that they’d be better passing the ball and wouldn’t see a decline in the running game. Then he stated that the defense finished the season playing like a championship unit. WTF? Finally, he topped the whole thing off by saying that the schedule looked manageable and they’d be playing for titles next year. I’ll wait until after the spring portal period to really develop my own pov on their 2025 roster, but for sure they’re losing a bunch of Saban legacy talent to the NFL off this last roster. Milroe, who they all generally despise as a player and take for granted, Booker, and multiple defensive players will all be drafted. However, we can consider the schedule right now. For a team suffering from major talent attrition the last two cycles, I would not be taking a bunch of these games for granted. @FSU - yes, FSU just went 2-10, so maybe this is a walk, but they went hard, again, into the portal and Norvell is touting their comeback. ULM - the ULM staff seem like they might be really good at talent evaluation. Something to watch but of course Bama will win this game by 50. Wisconsin - Fickell is coaching for his job in 2025. I expect Bama to win, but this is a veteran roster at Wiscy. Also, if you really want a laugh, check out the Wisconsin schedule for 2025. Those poor bastards could legitimately go 2-10. It’s early, but they might have the hardest schedule in the country. Off @Georgia - this looks formidable but Georgia lost more off of their roster this offseason than damned near any team in the country. Vandy - sure this is a revenge game for Bama, so maybe they roll here. That said, Vandy is a veteran ball club and brings back the majority of the talent that beat Bama last year. @Mizzou - Based on returners, this is another toss-up game. Tennessee - Tennessee will be an overrated top 15 team in 2025 but this should be a hell of a game. @SCar - SCar will likely be favored in this game. Sellers is really good and so is the SCar defense. Off LSU - the tigers think they’re a title contender next year. I don’t see it, but the talent between these teams will be comparable. Toss-up. OU - OU returns a lot of experience and brings in a very good QB transfer. They’re going to win 8+ games in 2025 but will one of those be in T-Town? Maybe? Eastern Illinois - credit to Bama for playing two P4 non-con games but these FCS scrimmages are still shameful. @Auburn - Auburn is going to be much improved in 2025 and this is their jihad game. In order to get to the SEC title game, Bama likely needs 6-2 at worst and it could very well be 7-1. I see a 9-3 team at best and anything down to 7-5 won’t surprise me. People have rolled their eyes about the Bama program being victimized by gravity in discussions on this site. Well, collapses can happen quickly in CFB. They just had their worst record in 17 years and the recipe for things getting worse this year is there. It’s a different era now and the talent on the Bama roster isn’t top 3 any more. Further, their experience isn’t robust either.

Well, sure, there’s all that. However, based on what Moffitt did to the roster last offseason at Elko’s behest, the toughest part for Hudson might be when they bring Kevin Spacey in and strap Hudson to a chair at the lunch table and then force feed him giant cans of spaghetti and meatballs until he dies, passes out, or shits himself violently. That extra 25 pounds won’t be added passively, guys. -

The Ewers camp was actively running Bond and Mukuba over and backing up and then running over them again heading into the CSU game. Until Bond’s injury, they looked like idiots on both fronts. Ultimately, Bond’s lack of prep and lack of size made him mostly a liability on the field, and his attitude allegedly sucked off the field, once his injury happened. As to being the dumbest guy on the roster, or ever, well, there’s a guy that transferred after disappointing everyone on this board who allegedly can’t read at a JR high level. -

Bobby likely doesn’t know who it is either. Like I said, for the staff side, at least, there’s apparently not enough fretting over it for the name to even be leaked due to outreach and such to keep the player in the fold. How we feel about it will be different, I’m assuming. -

No one is handwringing. A discussion can be had about a position, its players and their outlooks. We can all project whatever we want about how it plays out, but discussing its current state honestly has nothing to do with handwringing. Banner day for you and Sydney on this thread. -

1) Yeah, they look like different levels of the same concept to me. 2) Moving the goalposts from trying to put the term you conjured on me to now claiming that you meant willingness the whole time. Where do you think you are? You’re not in some mouthbreathing gotcha contest in the Cloak Room. -

Allegedly, they really like Washington. Unless they’re going to land a wizard in the spring portal, our best hope is what I referenced previously - Niblack is ready, and Washington and Shannon come on strong as a duo. If Townsend and/or Terry also force their way out there, that would be awesome. As of right now, my view is that the TE room is the most unproven group on the roster. -

Listen, will you take an adderall and focus for a minute or something. You invoked the term “embracing”. Not me. I used the term “showed a willingness”. I guess those are synonymous for you, but they weren’t for me. So I responded to you using that term. How was this not clear for you in my prior post after I quoted the fucking posts to help you and then further explained it? -

I, for one, am shocked, SHOCKED!!!, that Micah Hudson is a fucking bust and likely won't finish his college career as anything but ghost story in Lubbock and College Station. Evaluating HS recruits is hard, but I feel like we hit on more than we miss with this stuff. It helps to get input from some of the best guys to ever do the work, of course. -
