  1. So you're more in the Japanese accented "Herrro" camp versus the "He played like a fucking Hero today" camp, then.
  2. Were you using my post to be illustrative for the readers who are new to football, Fuddy?
  3. We’re being gaslit about Jaggy McJaggerson. It’s pretty obvious if you are actually paying attention and not just biased towards hearing what you want to hear. This guy is allegedly super fast, right? So the dude is catching the ball downfield, but somehow not scoring? Right. They can’t claim a TD because others will debunk that who were there. But “downfield” could be 5 yards and then exaggerated for all of his fanbois.
  4. Texas gave the proposal the old “yeah, sure, we’d be open to that” while trying to get the early exit deal done. Shortly thereafter, it became clear that that wouldn’t help any part of the early exit deal. As well, Tech was politicking with the state legislature to work their way into the PUF. They trying to align a bunch of Baylor and UH people to get themselves in with the “let’s stick it to the bastards” notion. Once all that was known and shut down, it’s since become Texas’ desire to give Tech the UH treatment in almost all sports. Is this a serious post? You think removing pettiness makes CFB more fun? Dark, bitter pettiness towards our enemies is a big part of the enjoyment we derive from college sports.
  5. OU scrimmage update spoilered below. Highlights: -A bunch of guys sat out due to injury, including multiple starters on both sides of the ball. -Much to the chagrin of the OU homer mods and their posters, the offense sucked and Mateer didn’t look great. -Shockingly, one of the FCS guys they’re counting on at WR has hand issues. Couldn’t catch a cold according to not just this report but some guys who attended from their board. -We’ve finally reached the inevitable moment where Kanak is now the starting TE. They’re going to spin it as a good thing because he’s allegedly “uber athletic” even if we’ve never seen that from him. The reality is that they have an abomination of a TE room and they’re going to be longing for Bauer Sharp. -The OL is still poo.
  6. I can confirm that you’ve accidentally framed their view as much more concerning than it is.
  7. Where did they say this? The only I saw is that Monroe was told from people in the program that all injuries today are minor in nature, as of 4pm. Burton announced more recently that Emaree Winston is out for a long while due to a shoulder injury but that it happened prior to the scrimmage.
  8. Tennessee fans have a bizarre inferiority complex about their school when it comes to Texas. When I am in Tennessee with a UT hat or shirt on, inevitably people feel compelled to come up to me and tell they’re “the real UT”. I just look at them and say “good for you”, which usually causes them to look bewildered and move on. It happens multiple times, every time I am there. I’ve had it happen in other parts of the south as well. Has anyone here ever walked up to a Tennessee fan and told them anything similar? I’ve never heard of such. They may not hate us now, but I assume they’ll be on the schedule next year. They’ll hate us plenty by then. I started disliking Georgia fans after the 2019 Sugar Bowl when throngs of them felt the need to tell any UT fan who would listen while walking out of the stadium or at the hotel that the Georgia team just didn’t want to be there. I’ve gotten to where I despise them after paying more attention since then. Talk about nouveau riche trash who got there in the dirtiest way possible and act like they’re the only ones who have earned anything.
  9. Here's an article from Tarp today. As I read his stuff frequently, I find myself starting to wonder if the guy isn't some sort of extremely subtle, masterful performance artist. Is this article satire? Is he quietly mocking Reed? Klein? His readers? Or is he just really this much of a redass that he's posting hopium regarding Reed's potential development as a downfield thrower? It's fantastic either way. Highlights: -Reed absolutely sucked throwing past 15 yards last season. -His sucking was due, in Tarp's view, to his scrambling and not setting his feet. -Tarp thinks Reed needs to take a heaving dump on his core asset - his mobility - in order to throw better downfield. If they don't do that, they're not going to win as many as they'd like. -Tarp goes on to ignore the potential issue that they may only have one downfield threat on the WR corps in Craver, who weighs 165 pounds soaking wet and had injury issues last year at Miss State. -Despite recent evidence to the contrary, plus last season and the spring, Tarp is confident that Reed will turn a corner throwing deep this season.
  10. Forgot to mention that posters are also saying that having firearms in a school dorm are a violation of code of conduct, irrespective of legality, and as such a likely reason for expulsion. I do not know if that is factual, but I want it to be.
  11. I think you're giving a very generous assessment of their defense. They lost 3 high draft picks off of the strength of their and replaced them maybe league replacement level talent. That's going to impact that back 7 as well. If their defense is top 8 in the conference, I am going to be surprised.
  12. JT Lindsay, RB class of 2025 and 2024 Louisiana HS Football POY, turned himself in last night on 2 felony charges for harboring criminals. He was letting his cousin and buddy from Alexandria hide in his school apartment style dorm. He's claiming his innocence, but witnesses have told investigators that he was aware of what his two piece of shit temporary roommates had done, which is murder another guy from their hometown. His apartment was found littered with guns including a glock and 2 AR-15 rifles. Dude was a top 150 recruit in the last cycle. Sonny Shipp has indicated to his board that a return seems unlikely. Others seem more hopeful with the "innocent until proven guilty!" concept. I support the concept wholly, myself, but the articles on the situation look really damning for this idiot. Link for one below. https://www.wafb.com/2025/08/08/lsu-freshman-running-back-turns-himself-accessory-charge/ ***** @texifornia since this is the de facto LSU thread and they're at least rivalry adjacent for us and one of the programs we've played more than any other outside of historic conference mates, can we rename this to something more meta but with a snarky element to boot? These idiots produce enough news and interest not to be just lumped into the SEC Catch-all thread.
  13. You guys cannot fucking help yourselves. All it takes is one simple idiot showing up to ask a dumb fucking question and then a thread careens off into the ditch and flatlines there for a page or two. Lost from that article is that he's hearing that Ffrench is going to start getting more looks inside. I can't even figure out if I think that is a good or a bad thing. He's also telling readers what I've been saying this offseason - those guys are taking up a lot of payroll and there's going to be some pressing to get them into games and give them every chance to be a part of the rotation. Whoever doesn't make it will be of the highest portal risk in December and by then, the staff may be okay with that. In the new world, that's just part of the math sometimes with highly rated freshmen. The quiet part doesn't always need to be said out loud. It behooves us all to whistle past the graveyard of our minds every now and then.
  14. Phil Steele was on with Plank on XM 84 earlier today. College Sports Saturday is the show and I generally enjoy both Steele's segments on various shows and Plank as a talking head except when he's talking about OU. They were discussing ATM and Steele can't help himself. He's high on ATM largely because Elko is calling plays on defense, Marcel Reed and "they're returning so many starts across their OLine". You can tell that Steele gets taken in by the coaches who will actually talk to him and not just send an assistant for the phone call. Elko knows how to handle these guys and he's sold Steele on his team. I come back to, is anyone actually watching the games? Steele's job is to know these teams inside and out. Does he watch any film? I'm hoping not in this case, because if he is and he thinks that returning Reed and that OL with Klein as the OC is a big plus for them, he doesn't know what in the fuck he is talking about with regard to gameplay. In all of the ATM discussion I've heard and read from elsewhere since last season, I have not experienced one moment in listening/reading in which anyone has discussed either the net negative talent flow with the portal for ATM or their futility on the road. No one has pointed out that they appear to have a systemic problem with playing on the road. This goes back as far as the eye can wander on a season by season basis. They had a .500 road record last season by beating juggernauts pre-Lagway Florida and 0-8-in-the-conference Mississippi State. They had their pants pulled down in public with South Carolina shouting "Yo! Check us out!" behind them as the CFB nation stared in amusement. They shit the bed against Auburn. They went 0-4 in 2023, 0-4 in 2022, and (2-2 if you count Colorado, as the game was in Denver and ATM won 10-7 against that piss poor team) 1-2 in 2021. They went 4-1 in 2020, getting blown out by Bama and beating 4 teams with a combined record that season of 15-26. I don't even know the last time they had a winning record during a non-corona season on the road because I got tired of looking. I'm sure they had one in 2012 simply due to the overall record being 11-2. They haven't had one from 2015 forward and that's while playing a usually terrible SCar on the road every other season. 9 of the last 10 seasons has produced .500 or worse, usually worse, and the 1 winning season was a national anomaly. This year they play @Notre Dame, @ Texas, @ Arkansas, @ Missouri, and @ LSU . Now, maybe they pull a few of those out, say Arkansas and Missouri (I am taking Missouri, but work with me here). If they win all home games as well, that's 9-3 and staring down the barrel of a good bowl game, that they will inevitably choke. 9-4 ceiling. I don't see how you look at that program for this season and tell anyone with a straight face that they're going 3-2 or better on the road. The assumption that they'll also go undefeated at home is doing a lot of work as well.
  15. I don't see it as pessimistic. It's pretty realistic and has been for years. We're not predicting 4-8 here. We're just saying 8-5/9-4 is their absolute ceiling and 6-7/7-6 shouldn't shock anyone, and then we've backed that with reasoning associated to roster analysis, schedule analysis and coaching analysis. If the analysis is shit, fine, I'll do a mea culpa on my end after the season. If we're right yet again, can we stop with the stupid lamentation that this site always overestimates ATM's downside? They haven't finished a season ranked since 2020.
  16. English is not Park Gothic’s first language. Cut him some slack.
  17. What? Do Australian men age like Benjamin Button?
  18. Malachi Moore. Titty baby of the first order. In a surprising twist, the New York Jets took him in a middle round and expect big things out of him. Let's see how it works out.
  19. Scooby Williams is basically Aggie DD Lewis. He looks the part, which is why he was a top 150 national guy coming out of high school. The problem is, he has the instincts of a dead lemming. Good luck betting on that dude to be a "difference maker" for their defense this year.
  20. LSU canceled an open media practice today, abruptly, and said the SID would be available for a few questions after practice. The posters on 247 are starting to freak out and the mods aren't doing a great job of providing assurances. They all seem to be developing the notion that the Nussmeier injury is a bigger deal than the LSU program is admitting.
  21. Bone bruise and nothing structural. Should be back soon, supposedly.
  22. I'm mostly out of the loop on details as they've developed their ways of working internally. Sometimes during peak nonsense periods, you hear a lot. I know from one conversation recently that Tech is absolutely on the radar and one bit of intel folks have picked up is that they're basically forming like 100 LLCs that can each pay players $4899 for NIL as an apparatus for just avoiding the clearinghouse in general. Sounds absurd and complicated, but, hey, it's their problem to manage and sell to the roster/recruits.
