I have Irish relatives through marriage and we've visited plenty, but mostly on the west coast with Galway as the home base. The crazy thing about going from there to Dublin is that, the first time I did it in 2009, it was like a 6+hour drive. Maybe more like 7+ if memory serves. Now? Less than 3 hours. They've really built out a lot of infrastructure that they were lagging on for decades. Anyway, to tex's original post, the kids growing up there still have to learn Celtic/Gaelic/whatever they call it in school. They say there's a pocket of like 10,000-ish people on the island who still speak it as native tongue. Also, Dublin is a terrific city. I want Texas to open against someone there, preferably Notre Dame, someday. I'm excited about the Iowa State/KSU game. Does Matt Campbell do his typical opening game bedshitting? Or does he have his team ready for a conference rival? Does Klieman move on from whatever personal stuff was causing him problems last year? Can Avery Johnson approach living up to the early expectations when he arrived? Can he complete a forward pass at least 15 times in this game? Interested in finding out. The KU/Fresno State game could be fun. Leipold has another new OC. Maybe Jalon Daniels figures some shit out more quickly this season. KU closed well last year, but their start was ugly and ruined the year.

Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again

All I was trying to point out is that CJ Vogel's nonchalance is fucking dumb. This isn't some sort of good thing. Don't portray it as such. Some of your reader base isn't the complete room temp IQ group that posts the most loudly. Jesus. -

Of course, I question the OL shit on the OTF thread and those guys are all immediately defending it as no big deal. Vogel calls it "manufacturing depth". Right. Removing meaningful reps from 2 different positions with 12 days to go is not the old "let's get some crosstraining going" type of move. You don't rob two positions to solve for another one. That creates 3 problems. Omeozulu has never taken reps at OT while at Texas. What the fuck is happening here? -

Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again

From CJ Vogel at OTF: Texas LT Trevor Goosby will be sidelined for a practice or two more according to head coach Steve Sarkisian Monday morning. Again, Goosby is not expected to miss much time and it is likely he returns before the week concludes. However, when Goosby went down Saturday during the scrimmage, it was third-year lineman Jaydon Chatman who entered the starting lineup at left tackle. Today, I am told there was some movement on the first team offensive line which aligns with a theory I had earlier this month in regards to Neto Umeozulu and his versatility. The Longhorns bumped Umeozulu out to left tackle, Cole Hutson out to left guard and plugged Connor Robertson into the lineup at center according to a source. We have heard often about the cross-training ability of many offensive linemen currently in Kyle Floods' room, and this further builds on that topic with another veteran getting snaps at tackle. ***** That makes me feel like whatever the injury is to Goosby, it's worse than they're letting on right now.- 7423 replies

Ourlads link to their view on it: https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/texas/92016 Spoilered for non-clickers: Personal Comments: -They're just wrong at this point at ZWR. -Haven't moved Cojoe out of the DC, moved Chatman to LT2 or Brooks to RT2. -January looks like 1st team over Watson. -Owens is likely 3rd and not 2nd string at QB. -Everything else looks pretty good. -
I wasn't overstating, but you are certainly overreacting.

I can't decide if this idiotic "what's an average Texas running back?" discussion is worse, the same or better than the "should or shouldn't Arch run the ball" pedantry of the last 3 pages. I feel like both might actually be more boring than the tried and true "name the most terrible memories of Texas football" contests. -
OU Football 2025 - League Average & Loving It

Here's an article about David Stone having an "awakening" and now really coming on as a DT for the 2025 season. I'll be surprised if he has, but, hey, there's nothing that can be disproven until the ball is kicked. The guy was developing a reputation of having a bad attitude before entering the portal. Nagy was fine letting him go sit and collect money somewhere else, but Venables threw a hissy fit and OU matched Auburn, allegedly. After that, suddenly Stone is just wrecking shit. -

Nothing wrong with that. Regardless, this thread doesn't exist as "Place Where Exiled Tech Fans Post Positivity About Tech's Season Without Texas Poster Interference". This thread is here to keep board denizens informed about the happenings at Tech and then to discuss the Tech seasons as they unfold, often to great humor. That slorch is attempting to intervene in some manner and repurpose the thread to his own liking is as futile as it is laughable.

There's nothing here in need of a "solve" from my perspective. Keep doing what you're doing and we'll keep doing drive-bys for our own pleasure.

Am I the only person who is both confused and unentertained by this Baby Billy handle? And yes, I watched the show. That changes nothing about whatever the fuck is happening here. Also, spoilered is a Florida update. Lagway is hurt worse than they're saying and has stopped working out again. Two of the main WRs they're counting on still aren't practicing. Dallas Wilson may be hurt a lot worse than the way they're playing things. -

Both Bobby and Gerry were talking about Ojo being a project all the way back to last winter. There were no sour grapes from OTF. I don't know what other sites were saying. Texas chose Ojo over Lee because they were close enough in terms of what Texas wants at OT and Ojo was an in-state recruit. Lee is liked as a prospect, but whoever signs him faces the very real risk of having a Hawaiian who is not playing much for up to 2 years get unhappy or homesick. I know there's talk of his parent's moving to wherever he signs, but I don't believe that's what's expected. -

I'm not saying that Manning was or wasn't concussed, but you are straight up delusional if you think Sarkisian is going to talk about his head injury history, should he have one, in public. If there's a way to get on the bad side of that family, it's to start hinting that the grandkid isn't playing, or isn't playing well, due to an injury like a concussion. The NFL has started discounting players with concussion histories when it comes to the draft and in free agency. So, yeah, you are not looking at any kind of data point there, man. -

There are 9 programs that the voters seem to think have a shot at winning the national title. I don't know if Vegas sees it differently, but the voters reflect a very big off dropoff in votes for Miami at 10 in both polls. The 9 teams are Texas, Penn State, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, Oregon and LSU. 6 of those teams will be starting a QB with limited or no experience. PSU has Allard, LSU has Nussmeier, and Clemson has Klubnik. Any of the other 6 could easily be in the title game and winning it. The notion folks are putting out there, not just in this thread or on this board, that a team needs an experienced QB to win it is unfounded and ignorant. Hell, many folk are taking things a step further and picking Ohio State to beat Texas in game one because of Manning's inexperience and replacing 4 OL starters (neverminding Goosby playing a ton in the final 5 games). This claim is made while OSU prepares to start a QB who has taken less than 20 snaps in college and is also replacing 4 OL. Silly. What did the stats say about hang time for punts from that game? Feels like they were somewhere between .5 and .75 seconds. -

Some actual recruiting stuff today of interest, spoilered below from GH. He's very high on flipping Malakai Lee, likely because Lee had given Texas the notice that he wanted to join the class before he announced. That led to Texas trying to figure out if Ojo was in or out. He said he was in and they let Michigan win the commitment. Must not have hurt the Lee family's feeling too much if he winds up flipping. -

I'm more excited this year than 2009. It's 2005 for me in terms of the last time I had more confidence. I thought the 2009 team was razor thin and that the OL was a piper tiger. I remain shocked to this day that Texas made it to the title game and was controlling it before Greg Davis' dumb fucking playcalling. My perspective has very little to do with Arch Manning. I really would like for him to be awesome, but the Texas football team, and all of us, don't actually need him to be awesome. He needs to be solid. Beyond that is all found money for this team. This is the deepest roster for Texas in most our lifetimes. There are dudes at every position and in every class. The storyline used to be that the Alabama second team was a top 10 team. I never fully bought that, but top 25 for sure. I see this roster in that same vein. The defense's second team is probably a top 10 unit, or close enough to argue it. There is that. I think the hype and the anti-hype at a national and casual fan level is all driven by the interest in Manning. That's fine. I just think it is misplaced. Kannell and Dvoracek taking Texas in the #8 spot of their rankings is a great example of the anti-hype. They're almost solely reacting to Manning and thinking they're coming across as savvy that he and the OL will have growing pains. Guess what? They will. The opposing team still has to score more than 17 points if and when that happens. Good luck with that. The Manning focus from every direction is burying this team's lede, and I'm a-okay with that.- 7423 replies

I'd say maybe throw yourself into other Texas fall sports but Ange Kelly fucking sucks and so does, apparently, the women's soccer team. Volleyball plays this week, though. Probably not completely sating, but it's something. I see the NFL preseason in the same light and that will do tonight. -

Write him off, buddy. As a general rule, if a freshman isn’t in the “I’m told” part of the $9.95er updates before their first fall camp ends, they’re never going to produce for the program.- 7423 replies

Anytime Tarp can get a minute away from the football department censors, he's writing subtle SOS letters disguised as threads in which he's trying to let anyone who may be listening know - know that the aggie defense is going to have its cheeks clapped on a regular basis. Spoilered below is an article in which Tarp explains that the dominance in camp of the aggie offense might not be the greatest thing. It's also giving an indicator that the aggie front 6/7 is small and is going to get manhandled this season. He fails to say they're also slow and that they lack talent, but we don't need him to tell us that, as we've watched them play. Highlights: -York and Scooby Doo go 227 and 230, listed. York is a menacing 5'10". York is tiny and he's not going to have massive guys in front of him to buy him time on plays. He's like a midget version of Danny Stutsman. He'll rack up 10 tackles per game, averaging a distance of 9 yards down the field per tackle. -Albert Regis is listed as 6'1", 320. He's a buttplug who's probably not clocking in at 6'0" if he were somehow invited to the combine. -What they fail to account for in the interior isn't helped out on the outside, where they are also small-ish. Here's where Tarp explains that they're going to have to walk safeties up on most plays. -Luckily, Tarp points out the solution to all of this: The aggies need to always be playing with a lead. If they have the lead, they can theoretically apply pressure on the passing game. I didn't realize that being small and slow made your matchups favorable in the passing game for a defense, but I am not an aggie sportswriter, either. -The good news is that ATM won't be playing any teams this year with talent in the running game. There aren't any guys like Jeremiah Love or Ahmad Hardy or Jadyn Baugh or CJ Baxter with size and speed to punish their weakness. No mobile QBs like Taylen Green or Arch Manning or DJ Lagway or Lenoris Sellers to press the outside and run RPO. Nothing to see here, folks.- 484 replies

The Canterbury Tales was a bawdy, medieval delight to read, sir. I don’t see a problem with scheduling ASU or Louisville as the P4 future opponent. Hell, ASU is ours in like 2032/2033 or some shit. -
Huh? This thread doesn’t bother us. I love this thread. Hounding your dumbass is more fun than it should be, but here you are living up to my expectations again. I can’t lose.
