  2. I'm 58 years old. We moved to Houston when I was four when my dad went to work at NASA. My parents met in Austin as UT undergrads in the late 1950s. They took us to Austin several times a year until I graduated high school when I then moved to Austin to go to UT. During those four years at Texas, I cannot count the number of concerts I saw at the nine million venues, small to large, to see every type of live music. Two to three per week, no exaggeration. Moved back to Houston and continued to travel back to Austin many times a year for football, music, parties, weddings, etc. Our son then moved to Austin to go to Texas from 2009-2013, another reason we regularly visited. I had never heard of Nanci Griffith until her death this week. I have spent the last two hours watching Youtube and listening to her perform. I really can't put into words how sad it makes me feel to never have heard her sing or perform. In fact, after watching and listening to her, I don't think I've ever been so sad to hear of the death of someone that did I not know, but had never heard of. I wish I had been introduced to her music before her death. With all of my/our ties to Austin, I am beyond disbelief. Please don't dump on me. I just don't understand how I could have missed out on her. RIP Nanci Griffith. RIP.
  3. Just heard that jury duty has been suspended in Bexar, Travis and Jefferson Counties.
  4. First game I can remember watching -- 1969. I was on an Indian Guides campout and all the dads and kids crammed into the welcome center or whatever it was to watch. First game in person -- 1977 v. UH. The game where Earl ran into Bevo. First game as a student -- 1980 vs. Arky.
  5. This is the correct answer.
  6. Thanks. After I posted, I sniffed around on the internets and saw that avg MSRP is $500?? Guess I won't be making old fashioneds with this stuff.
  7. Received one of these as a gift last evening. Heaven's Door Booteg Series. Anyone?? Anyone?? https://www.heavensdoor.com/bootleg-series
  8. Scheffler is going to win. Fight me.
  9. Female offspring and son in law are both UVA grads. She picked UVA over Texas, Berkeley and several others. Can't say as I blame her. I'll be rooting for the Horns but will then root for the Hoos should we fall on the battlefield.
  10. Pick one and only one for your next trip to bring on the airplane.
  11. Looking to sublease approx 2500 sq ft of office space (law firm) either downtown or NW side near 183/620. Just now starting to look as several clients have asked us to open an office there. Any help would be appreciated. This looks like mostly a residential real estate thread but thought I would start here.

  15. Heard a story on one of the sports ray-dee-oh shows this morning. Koepka was at the Masters as a 9 or 10 year old kid and somehow got access to the player's parking lot. He says everyone agreed to give him an autograph except Phil. Koepka brought it up to Phil at some point (maybe at the Ryder Cup -- can't recall) and told Phil he had stiffed him. Mickelson said "well, you shouldn't been in the parking lot anyway."
  16. Parker saved our ass today.
  17. Yeah, it was more of a comment about how crummy the Rangers are/looked than how the Astros looked.
  18. Glad to have the sweep but the Rangers are not a very good beisbol team.
  19. Agree on ER. Stumbled into an Elmer T Lee at Total Wine. Tasty. Mighty tasty.
  20. I'm going to have to agree with this take. Regardless of the cause, the loss of this young man is tragic and heartbreaking. I have heard ZERO about the cause and it really isn't any of my business. If, once known, addressing the cause can help others, and prevent even one other death from the same cause, then address it and learn from it. RIP Jake.
  21. Reposting this even though I did it a few pages back. While we should celebrate Wanker's banishment, we need to get back to these thoughts.
  22. Hard to say it any better than this . . . . .
  23. Just unbelievably tragic. RIP Jake.
  24. https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/01/entertainment/olympia-dukakis-death/index.html She was awesome in Moonstruck.
  25. He did. He also flashed the Hook Em right into the camera as he walked off the green after the win.
