  1. I am generally not a fan of the relic'ed guitars. This one, however, I find myself strangely attracted to. The flamed maple peeking through is an interesting spin on the over the top "heavy aged" guitars and basses that Nash and the Fender Custom Shop are pumping out.
  2. Lord, i hate cyclops. Wish i could grind it off my Rolex. Otherwise love the watch even if i haven't had a reason to wear it in a few months. I used to hate them too. The date window is useless to me without it now. Sigh.
  3. Forgot the pic earlier. Sapphire crystal. Seiko automatic movement. Waffle dial has a lot of depth in person. Cyclops is big, but I’m older now so I appreciate it.
  4. I had a Panerai Sub for a while. It's not a bad watch, but I agree with 52-80. It's basically multiple variations of the same 2 models. It makes the Porsche 911 design team look radical by comparison. I will say that the ease of strap changes and the huge array of aftermarket straps can let you change things up pretty often. A new strap is always cheaper than a new watch when you get tired of the old look. Regarding green watches with green straps, take a look at the Seiko King Turtle if you don't mind a dive watch.
  5. Why has this information been held back from me until now? I can't even....
  6. How much are you (or the parents) looking to spend? Sweetwater has this demo. I bet they will drop it down a bit more. Capri Orange may not be the best Strat color, but the HSS configuration is always great. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StratPHSSPCO--fender-player-series-stratocaster-hss-capri-orange?cond=StratPHSSPCOd1
  7. This is well built and will cover a lot of tonal ground. Very underpriced for what you get. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BB435BL--yamaha-bb435-5-string-black
  8. I am a 4 string guy, so no personal experience. The guys over at Talkbass really like the SUB series (especially for the value you get). I think the string spacing on the 5 is possibly a bit tight at the nut, but as a guitar guy, that probably won't matter as much for you.
  9. Honey, this is NOT a guitar. This is a bass. It's totally different.
  10. It actually sounds really good. Passive pickups with two volume knobs and the master tone is a push pull to split the coils. I am still playing around with different combinations. Neck at 10 with the tone rolled back sounds great as does splitting the coils and running both PUPS and the tone pushed up a bit. It can be "P-ish" but isn't 100% there and sorta Jazz with the split coils, but really it has it's own thing going. The neck is thin and fast, which I guess should be expected from an 80's product. It is super lightweight and balances unexpectedly well. The biggest issue is the headless aspect. I keep going to the 2nd fret expecting it to be the 1st fret because my visual references are off. I bought it on a whim and expected it to be a toy, but I actually really like it.
  11. Team Couch strap.
  12. This was the before pic. May not have been cleaned since 1985. The case is super tiny.
  13. I got really bored during quarantine and decided to pick up a project. Rescued this guy and have spent some time getting it back to it’s 80’s greatness. I’m starting a Jem and the Holograms cover band if anyone is interested.
  14. If I contract and survive Covid, I have already decided that I am going to get a Corona survival bass.
  15. That was exactly me. I was selling my Honda Prelude because the car seat would not fit well in the back (miss that car....) I loved the FJ, but dealing with the half door and fitting a kid in a rear facing seat just felt like too much of a pain. Ended up with a V8 4Runner instead.
  16. Couple of nice options on sale today. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Daily-Pick.gc https://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid
  17. She has very poor trigger discipline.
  18. Seagull offers a Slim S6 version. Drops the width a bit. The string spacing is actually the same, but the width is taken out at the edges. My vote is a Yamaha FG/FSX series and spend the rest on a great set up. A concert size would be my pick for comfortable porch strumming. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FGX800C--yamaha-fgx800c-dreadnought-cutaway-natural https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FSX820C--yamaha-fsx820c-concert-cutaway-natural An iPad and Fender Play App is a really user friendly way to go. If you are in DFW, I have a Seagull S6 that I could cut you a Surly deal on.
  19. Unless you are in a RHCP cover band or play a ton of slap or metal, a P bass with flats should really cover most if not all your bass tone. Steve Harris uses them, so I guess they actually can cover metal pretty well too.... DougO is correct that going back and forth can be a huge pain due to the higher string tension of flats. So, in the spirit of this thread, yes you need 2 and please post pics of our new bass when it arrives. Are you playing with flats now? What (if anything) do you think is missing?
  20. Not sure about Youtube, but Drumeo is a solid online course. Fee based, but good. And those drums look great!
  21. As a kid, I was always a fan of Mrs. Butterworth's
  22. I thought it was just buying more expensive gear. Now you tell me.
  23. Young kids napping while you are running? How young? In that situation, I would just bring a phone and carry it in a flip belt. I use one and can't even feel the phone. No bounce at all. https://flipbelt.com/flipbelt
  24. I have a Fenix that I love, but it is a bit more expensive. I don't think the F45 has an altimeter, so that would leave the Vivoactive. I hate the short battery life of the Apple watch vs Garmin, so I ruled them out early. They are running some Father's day sales right now, so you can save a bit right now on some of the Garmin products.
