  1. They're letting aggy get physical on the boards but you apparently can't touch their guards. He has every right to be upset.
  2. Sampson is tired of this officiating. I can't really blame him.
  3. I think we want Gonzaga. They are only 1-2 against NET top 30 teams and their win was against Stanford where Brink only played 11 minutes because she was sick. They seem like a paper tiger that stacked wins against mediocre teams and luck against Stanford with Brink being sick.
  4. Amo was really good today. I thought she did by far the best job on Barker. Better than Holle or Muhammad. I was a bit surprised they put Amo on Barker because I didn't think she had the quickness to guard her.
  5. I think the funniest part of this game was the broadcasters talking about Amo like "you don't run offense through her" and similar comments. I don't think it was anything negative but I think a lot of people forget Moore was the #6 recruit. She's as talented as anyone in the country if she can just stay healthy.
  6. Way too many missed layups but I would say this game went how Vic wanted. Our size/physicality completely took their big out of the game (Cody) and Amo abused their best player on the boards (Barker). The way we lose in the tournament is if we make it a guard or perimeter game. We have one of the best rebounding and defensive frontcourts in the country. These half court physical type games are not going to be ones we lose.
  7. I think most our games are going to be ugly moving forward. It's pretty clear what Vic's strategy is now without Harmon. Pound the ball inside and use our physicality to grind on teams. I just hope we don't get refs that call a bunch of soft fouls because that will be our kryptonite.
  8. The big issue on layups are Amo, Jones, and Gaston are all physical players. They all look for contact. Instead of looking for contact just finish.
  9. This should be interesting. Mulkey just seems like a terrible human being. https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39795254/lsu-mulkey-sue-washington-post-false-story-published
  10. The SEC sucks. Bruce Pearl remains one of the most overrated coaches in college basketball. He's made the 2nd weekend only 1 time in 10 years at Auburn.
  11. They have some insane egos on that team between Reese, Van Lith, and Mulkey. It's really no surprise they hate each other.
  12. That LSU team is talented and could still make a run but they seem like they hate each other. With all those issues with Reese early in the year it really does seem like they have a major chemistry problem. They do not like playing with each other from what I've seen.
  13. I think with Horton, they're just trying to buy minutes with him. You can't play Hunter, Abmas, and Weaver 35+ minutes a night. When is the best time to try and buy minutes out of Horton? It seems like RT's general idea is to get minutes early out of Horton and then use Weaver in the critical minutes.
  14. Thing is it's pretty commonplace in the NCAA tournament. Maybe not 1/14 bad but teams often have terrible shooting nights. People forget we shot 1/13 from 3 against Penn State last year but also went off against Colgate and Xavier from 3. The key is having a coach that adapts and tells players to stop shooting 3s when they aren't going in.
  15. True but 6 or 7 fewer attempts is pretty significant in the context of a game like this. The key stat was 0 transition points for CSU. Not bricking 3s and getting the ball inside more is what prevented them from getting out in transition.
  16. The thing is this isn't even a negative IMO. We only made 1 three but we also didn't jack a bunch of 3s. We lost NCAA tournament games with Shaka because we would jack 3s on nights we weren't shooting well. We outscored CSU 30-18 in the paint because we made it a priority to get the ball inside on a night we couldn't make anything from deep. I know some don't like to admit it but it was a good coaching job by RT last night. Under Shaka, we would have shot 25 threes last night and likely lost.
  17. RT has as many tournament wins in 2 seasons as we did from '09-'22. I have no clue if RT is the right guy for the job but anybody that thinks his seat is hot is clueless. He's getting 3 more years here at a minimum unless he decides to go Chris Beard.
  18. No, we just laugh at how Chris Beard stans frame things. When Beard wins an ugly defensive game it's because he's a defensive savant but when RT does the same thing it's more of "we did not play well."
  19. I wouldn't say it was an "awesome performance" offensively but it definitely was defensively. A 21 point jump in adjD (Kenpom) indicates as much. Winning ugly is the exact recipe of every Chris Beard team so not sure why @shadow_operativethinks this is a bad thing.
  20. Only 1/14 from 3 but the key is we only shot 14 threes. It may not seem like a big deal but this is exactly how Shaka lost NCAA tournament games. On nights where we weren't shooting well it didn't stop us from jacking 3s.
  21. CSU would be favored over every ACC team not named Duke or UNC.
  22. T-Rank has it ACC #6 and Mountain West #7. The Mountain West was also ranked above the ACC at one point in Kenpom but not sure where it finished. I just find the NC State and Colorado State comparison to be hilarious. Colorado State just ran the 3rd best ACC team off the court in the first 4 game. The idea that NC State was playing vastly superior competition than CSU is complete fiction.
