  1. i was told when the shooting starts, the looting starts.
  2. trump had the advantage of being a celebrity for 25 years before he even got into politics. that person doesn't exist. it would literally have to be the rock or tom cruise or some shit. and even then, people will be wary of "does this guy know how to govern", even though plenty were fine with trump because he was a "successful businessman" not just a celebrity. but they also had 15+ years of hillary smearing courtesy of fox news. trump had the perfect combination of celebrity, grievance, timing, opponent, russian interference, divided country, social media exploitation, obama ptsd, and you can add 20 more things here, and he still won an improbable narrow victory in a few states by fewer than 100k total votes. and we don't even know how rigged the election was or wasn't, but you know they at least attempted some shit. the best bet for republicans is not another trump. it's to hope that the dems make some bad choices in their candidates and that they can run the right oppo propaganda campaign against them to make both candidates unlikable enough to suppress turnout. maga's true enemy is the gop, and they will fight as long as trump is sucking oxygen.
  3. this will not work. once again, trump is not part of the gop. the ultra maga types don't have enough support from traditional gop, and traditional republicans can't attract the magas. they're fucking stuck and most of them know it. trump definitely knows it. this is a dude under indictment for shit that would send most people away for life, who's a serial sexual assailant, got impeached twice, and might be the worst person currently alive on this planet, and he won't even have to debate to win the nomination.
  4. pretty sure they're on freevee. there are commercials though.
  5. after the merger, when they're waiting on don and brainstorming stuff for margarine, they're all getting frustrated and ginsberg says something and ted shoots him down, and ginsberg is like, "i thought no bad ideas" and ted is like "nobody said that." i would love to toss that out during a "no bad ideas" brainstorming call.
  6. i was scrolling through the landing page last night, and the way the main page is, if i have the cursor over a show, the bottom half of the show pic is cut off. then if i scroll down, it cursors on a new row, so i have to go back up. also shows that i finished are still showing up on "continue watching", even though the finale is sitting there with a full progress bar. white house plumbers, succession, and so forth, just clogging up my list. i'm too lazy to explain it better or attach a pic, but yeah, it didn't used to be like this.
  7. apple is. i'm sure netflix is searching hard for quality (korean) content.
  8. spoiled for those taking it slow (i don't blame you).
  9. richie wears his armor, like he mentioned in "forks". his armor isn't a suit though, it was a loud, obnoxious, shitty attitude, mixed with self-loathing and self-pity. i'm having a rough go of it, nothing goes my way, my childhood was shit, so i'm going to act like an asshole and i don't care what people think of me. the good qualities he had, both as a person and as a restaurant-worker were always there. "he said you were good with people. he wasn't wrong." carmy and those close to him have seen glimpses, he just needed to knock the chip off his shoulder and do the work. he needed to understand it better. i agree the stage phase should've been longer, but these are 30 min episodes and there just isn't room. but he cares about people and their experiences, and now he's able to put that part forward and let it lead. when you see his character, you almost assume it's like the wire, and they just took an obnoxious chicago sandwich shop guy and put him in the show. he's a good actor and a good character.
  10. now if they could only fix that pesky content problem.
  11. yeah, lots of emmy nominated (and winning) actors at that table. and curtis just won an oscar. mulaney has 2 emmys as well but they're for writing or something pointless.
  12. he is, but pretty much everyone is. in s1 i expected to not like marcus's roommate, he was only in 1 scene, and it was great. you're supposed to not like sug's husband, but you end up kinda liking him. sydney is annoying but she's a good character. there are no bad characters.
  13. def one of the best lol scenes in the season.
  14. this is my favorite part, because it's so so so trump. he didn't keep the file, talk about the file, or show the file for money or favors. he did it to "win" a slapfight he was having with milley. he did something that would get most people life in prison so he could say "i was right". 70mm people made an effort, whether by mail or actually leaving the comfort of their own home during a global pandemic, to check a box to make this demented traffic cone president again. i will never get past that.
  15. report back after you finish the 4th and final season.
  16. in 2023 it’s this and dave and then everything else. it was prob my favorite show of 2022 as well. they could make 5 more seasons or end it right now.
  17. i would agree that she is a talented communicator. there was a segment on her (pre-election) on the circus (showtime). the shit she says is bonkers, but she came off as not super bonkers (again, pre-election). they made the point at the time that this made her extraordinarily dangerous. i was getting nervous she would win, which would've been terrible for the 2024 election. luckily she's gone so fruit loopy that most people see her coming, but she's definitely the type to be on the lookout for. the gop should be recruiting network anchormen/women instead of hoping cardboard cutouts like desantis grow a personality overnight.
  18. then we should go ahead and get most of those guys just to be sure.
  19. pete's rebound snatch was also hot as fuck.
  20. dramatic? he was fucking hilarious. he's got great timing, always has.
  21. what a misleading twitter caption. it's 60 seconds and he explains virtually nothing. he has 773 on his arm and that's the chicago area code and his way of showing love to the people back home. anyway, we went to a screening of chef several years ago and favreau and roy choi did a q&a afterwards. basically they were well into shooting, and thought it might not be right. so favreau (who got classically/professionally trained i think at the cia as an actual competent high-end restaurant chef to prepare) brought choi into his "kitchen" set. the first thing choi asked about favreau was, "where are his tattoos and where are all his burn marks?" they completely changed how favreau looked in that movie moving forward. long knife down his arm, burn marks everywhere - all that almost didn't happen. also that movie is great if for some reason you haven't seen it. fast forward to one of my best friends playing a chef in a tv show last year. when he was shooting, i was all, "they're gonna give you tatts and burn marks" and he was like, nah, i don't think they're getting into it that way. a month later he sent me a picture of him in makeup with all these scars and tatts. nailed it.
  22. and the brunette chick that polluted the 2nd part of s7 was the worst. change my mind.
  23. the right arm that's partially obscured by the dude to his right? what were you expecting?
