  1. i haven't read through this thread, so it may have been mentioned, but a great moment last night happened in the 8th, after jv got trout to bounce into the check swing 1-3 putout.  he pumped his fist, and on his way to the dugout, gattis (i think) was abut halfway out towards the field to greet him and high-five him.  so much for your dh chilling on the bench waiting to bat and not really giving a shit.

one of my favorite things about this team is that altuve, who hasn''t really been himself lately at the plate, is still always on the front step of the dugout, and greets whomever scores or homers on their way back to the dugout.  only really in college do you see guys come out of the dugout in situations like that.  and then there's altuve.

world series ring or not, just try to tell me these guys aren't hungry and into every minute of this.  possible lack of intensity is something that doesn't concern me.

Also I think they needed to keep the meathead Marine around...  Just make him a lucky dude who skates through life and torments Barry along the way.

  3. separate question, new post.

i was at the game last night, sitting on the first base side, so was screened out on the calhoun play in the 9th.  i had been drinking, so maybe that was it - but first of all, it looked like it would drift out of play.  i missed seeing the catch.  wasn't even expecting a tag either, and the throw came out of nowhere.  was that a fucking ridiculous throw, or should spring not have even chanced it?

  4. insanity.

i feel like the lynch-pin for this whole situation is derek fisher.  if fisher was playing well enough to be our every day lf, then marwin could be our swiss army knife and jake could be our late inning def replacement and pr - both vital to an organization trying to make a deep run, and keep our starters fresh and healthy.

the fact that he isn't playing well, means more marwin in the of, having to bat righty sometimes, and a weaker, disorganized bench.

btw, it's not fisher specifically, it's not having an above average lf in general.  if marwin was playing like last year, it wouldn't matter.  if kyle tucker was tearing the cover off the ball, he could be the answer in a month.  but neither is happening.  corner outfielders needs to produce.  that said, we have 2b/ss production most teams dream of, but if they're not hot, it shows.

and i'll never understand how somewhat soft throwing lefties eat our lunch so consistently.  i get that we crush fastballs, but yeah, so does everyone.  we should crush lefties, but haven't in a long time.

I think it said Alec Berg wrote and directed the finale.  I thought he had basically left the show?   Hopefully he and Judge will get more involved.

Agree with the comments.  Loved Jared’s line, and I thought the plot in general was in a better direction.  I enjoy the subtle douche touches in Gavin’s character, too.  He tries to weasel into the deal with Laurie and Yao by floating the idea of a 20% partnership interest, and then when he thinks he has a chance to double cross them he acted offended that they were only offering 20%.

The new assistant and Tesla stories didn’t have much of a payoff, though.  The K-Hole guy  “camping” by playing video games in an RV was good, but the side plots/jokes don’t measure up to the first couple of seasons. Those used to be things like the Blaine SWOT board, not someone’s face looking exaggeratedly blown back in a car.

i would assume berg is contracted to write/direct a certain amount per season, and chose the finale, which was good for us.  also good that the seasons are so short, so he can work on this and barry and still have time leftover.  i've been told that he is completely removed from the day-to-day/showrunning duties (i think clay tarver got upped), which makes sense, as it would be downright cruel to make someone do that for two shows at once.

  6. i definitely don't think it was a dream - but here's what i fear may happen...

the cabin scene was definitely in the future (at least weeks or months), so for all we know, the second season could start after the bar scene with the actors and before the cabin, and s2 could work its way there.  the positive side is we'd get moss alive and well.  the negative is that we'd know the eventual conclusion (even if the shooting wasn't the end of season 2, but somewhere in the middle).  wouldn't be my favorite, but it's possible.

  7. the jared line definitely salvaged all the bad jokes - the richard dancing, the assistant screaming, laurie talking, the weird mouth effect on the driving, etc.  they tried to replicate the season 2 finale, which was fantastic.  wasn't up to that standard, but the plot made it watchable.

hbo needs to fucking stop with these 8 episode seasons.  already happened with divorce, now this and barry, and i have a bad feeling about the upcoming veep season.  this isn't the uk.

  8. yeah, i'm not really sure what you were trying to say there.  the casting is clear, and the characters are unique, so good on the casting director.  that said, the vast majority of the characters are a fucking beating, so that's really on the writers.

outside of the primary cast, i would say russ is great (in small doses, as his schtick gets kinda old).  his lawyer is decent, and the felon lawyer is fucking great.  i personally don't like gavin's security guy, but you guys seem to.  laurie, the doctor, gavin's spiritual guide - all are absolutely brutal.  jin yang hasn't been funny at all since erlich left, and i've never liked monica at all.

    who am i missing?

  9. finally watched this week.  great great episode, and turning into one of my favorite shows on tv.

cool story alert - gersh is where i'm represented.  also great that the caa and wme seats were left vacant.

  10. finally got my first solo win today.  had a couple duo wins and a sniper battle win, which still counts.  also several 50v50 which don't really count, but there was one time where it was down to me and one other guy, so i'm counting that one.

having a lot of success landing in good spots near great spots.  you get a couple weapons and let everyone else fight it out in the great spot, then ambush him and take his shit.

couple great examples of this -

up in the ne corner of the map, land near the ice cream truck (1-2 chests) then run down to the 2 houses (2-3 chests), then creep onto risky reels, where typically there's a last man standing situation, and he's not expecting shit.  build from the outside, and find him, then attack.

there used to be a disco kind of in between haunted hills and snobby shores - now it's just a random 3 story building.  land on top, there are typically a couple chests, then behind it, there are a couple more where the big crater is.  then there are a couple houses to the north, and if the circle lands right, you can catch unsuspecting assholes coming from haunted (where there are typically 6-10 chests).

  11. to whomever is complaining they die too fast, just realize that where you land (and your overall plan) is the most important aspect of the game.

over half of the bus jumps at the first possible second.  the rest are spread around, and most go to the bigger, named towns.  figure out a few spots where you can loot by yourself and grab 2-3 chests - there are a bunch of spots like this.  once you get good at a few spots, you'll figure out where to go from there.

if you need help, just google or youtube "fortnite best landing spots" and you'll get some great ideas.  don't be afraid to fly for a while, as you'll be more isolated.

  12. a lot to like the last 2 games...

on the road against a ~.500 team that definitely has some pop (last series in oakland was not fun).

offense didn't go crazy, but got key contributions from some unlikely guys - fisher, stassi, even marwin.  great to see altuve back in his doubles groove and bregs park one.

fell behind and came back both days.

solid, but unspectacular starts by lmj/cole (it was a good start by cole, but in comparison, you know, he battled, walked 3).  both got wins, which i know is important to some of you.

lock down bullpen had to pitch 4/3 innings respectively, almost everyone got in, and kenny g looks like the guy - no need for confusion in obvious save situations, even a day game after a night game.

bottom line is that we're gonna have some ridiculous starts from this staff, and some crazy 12+ run scoring games from our offense.  but if we're gonna win 100 and have a chance to go back to the series, we're gonna need to get better at winning games like this.

    great job.

does anyone know the future outlook for this show?  how many more episodes this season?  renewed for next season?  it seemed like it was over last episode.  no more rivalry between ax and chuck?  the whole show was based on that.  chuck seemed to allude in is ben hogan story that he is a changed man and the game has passed him by.  the only loose end i'd like to see is taylor's story.  she's clearly got something on her mind (or up her ass).

last week was kind of a good news/bad news situation for me.  the ice juice buildup was greatness, the way he used bogosian to bait axe was brilliant, and i loved the reveal in those episodes at the end of s2.  then they all turn on connerty, which was a nice touch, so i was kinda bummed it went away so quickly.  but then i looked on imdb to see that was only ep7 out of 12 (i think).  so they definitely have something up their sleeve for the rest of the season, and i'm excited to see where it goes.

if this last week was the season finale, it would've been a big letdown, but i have high hopes.

maybe monica comes on as cfo and jared can go back to being richard's assistant.   i agree with the previous poster that thinks the rivalry between jared and the new assistant is boring and adds no value.

i just don't really understand it.  jared becomes coo and promptly deals with the gavin/fridge lawsuit like a boss.

now he spends his day stalking and quibbling with the lowest level employee at the company.  he comes from hooli corporate culture, and was never really "richard's assistant".  having some infrastructure around should be something jared is used to more so than any of the others.

if anything, they should've made it to where dinesh and gilfoyle couldn't get direct access to richard anymore and it bothered them to deal with the corporate environment.

Liked the episode; been a good season. Would yall say it's a comeback season for yalls tastes?

i'd say it's been right in line with last season.  the first 3 seasons were probably a-/a+/b and the last two have been d+ to c-

i've also come to the conclusion that laurie and likely monica by association fucking suck at their jobs.

no erlich means they needed someone to fulfill the douche quota.  with russ only bouncing in for a minute (and not being funny doing it), they clearly sacrificed dinesh on that alter.  sucks for him, because it's really bad, and when the rest of the show isn't clicking, it's a real bummer.

was there some sort of backstory to the jared feud?  it wasn't funny, and took away from jared's typical role, which is by far the best thing this show has going.  i'm not ok with that, but i guess it's almost over.
