Two excellent columns on future Hall of Famers -- 1 who has completely lost it, and 1 who looks like he is losing it.

    Pujols:

    Kershaw:

If you're only going to read one, read the Kershaw one.

before the series in houston which started like 10 days ago, some angels beat reporter was remarking how fitting it would be if pujols got 3000 in houston, since he's had so much success in mmp over the years.  he was at 2992 and it was a 3 game series.  i turned the channel.

  2. jesus the first 10 minutes, i had to rewind just to catch my breath and hear everything.

"the scottish king" and winkler saying he's 47 years old.  little details are slaying me.

    i thought he was 65-70, but he's 73.  wow.

I liked the Gavin in China scenes.  “If I wanted all that shit (read: humane treatment of workers) I would have stayed home or gone to Denmark.  We come to China to get away from that.”

Dinesh is worse than Richard, though, and Guilfoyle is also pretty tiring now.  I think I’d even be ok with writing those two off the show and just making it Richard, Jared and Bighead in the Pied Piper group vs. Hooli.

funny.  last night was the first time i actually said to myself "dinesh is a worse character than richard."

he wasn't really funny before, but early season fat dinesh was way better.  this self confident tesla owning skinny douchebag is really hard to watch.  there's nothing funny about a physically fit man.  also the story didn't even make sense.  they went out of their way to say those two were senior mgmt, and wouldn't be subjected to all the public scrutiny to maintain the respect from the rest of the office.  but then everyone went on screwing with them and betting on outcomes of their slapfight.

Thinking today about how fortunate we got by acquiring Verlander instead of the other pitchers whose names were in the mix last season. Nearly every other pitcher the fans were clamoring for last season has been a bust with his new team. Darvish has a 6.86 ERA, 60 ERA+, and 5.02 FIP. Quintana has a 7.78 ERA, 53 ERA+, and 5.23 FIP. And Gray has a 7.71 ERA, 57 ERA+, and 5.05 FIP.

Meanwhile JV was the ALCS MVP and currently has 1.36 ERA, 283 ERA+, and 2.84 FIP. Now, maybe Strom could have worked some magic with the other guys that would have resulted in them having better numbers, but as it sits now, we went out and got the one SP available last season who hasn't shit the bed with his new team.

btw, it also emphasizes the importance of how we manipulated the draft to grab guys like daz.

agreed.  and it's really the fact that we brought in a veteran leader.  it's been said that jv changed the attitude and the whole clubhouse is different now.  even if quintana or gray was pitching great (which they are not), verlander's leadership is a gamechanger.  i have to think having him and mccann has to be a reason cole and morton are pitching so well.

IF he hits .270/21/72 playing 3 days/week and pitches like he's capable of, he'll be the League MVP

those would be his stats if he got 500+ pa is what i'm saying.  and didn't pitch.  in my opinion, there are plenty of people who can do what he does as a full time hitter, which is why i think he should just pitch.

  7. i don't typically like med shows but i'm enjoying this.  i'm a matt czuchry fan.

i like that it's really about the power struggle and politics of the hospital instead of just illness and relationships, which i can only assume is what grey's anatomy is about.

  8. the angels announcers were so ready to go on and on about wins / homers in a month for a single player.  on and on with the babe ruth comparison, etc.

    that was pleasant.

also i didn't see shit on pitchtracker from their broadcast.  shocking.
