  1. I don’t know. I don’t even understand what people are arguing about. Was trying to figure that out because my nature is if I read 3 pages of invective back and forth I want to understand what people are saying, but that’s the part of me my wife describes as spectrum adjacent, so whatever.
  2. I sort of do. It’s sort of the worst of all worlds (Bregman gone, pitching gone some, team worse and then Tucker leaving for nothing). So, it’s my fear and expectation I guess.
  3. I guess I don’t understand what the argument is. Is it- this degree is worth an easy show up job in big time corporate America or is it- this should be pretty easy to monetize a little fame into a comfortable 6 figure living if you played but didn’t star at UT? I think anyone that played and had a modicum of name recognition at UT should be set for 6 figures a year for life trading on that fame if they aren’t a screw up (mortgage, real estate, insurance, car sales, regular run of the mill sales, coaching football at the high school level etc) but those are jobs you actually have to do to get that money, even if the fame gets you in the door and the opportunity. And when I say fame I don’t mean VY level fame or even chance mock level fame, I’m talking Beau Trahan type fame. Tucker Dorsey seems like a good analog. 1 year for UT. Played a decent amount, was known, but not even a starter. He got recruited in personally to Keller Williams, went on some pods where he got advertised and I’m sure he’s doing ok. I’d think any kind of professional services/sales job would be like that for a Texas athlete. Thats my world and what I’d do if an athlete wanted entry to that. I know you have a ton of irons in the fire and I’d assume you would do similar for anyone that had interest in one of your worlds, right? Beyond that I don’t understand what people are trying to say. Being quasi famous, even when narrowcasting, is obviously a good thing for a lot of jobs/opportunities/places.
  4. 4.7 on BR in 78 games man. Calling that a 4 win player just isn’t accurate characterization of him. He’s really likely to be a 6 war player in his 1 year under club control. As I said- I agree with your valuation completely.
  5. Calling Tucker a 4 win player sort of minimizes him- he’s more like a 6 war player based upon track record and where he’s at in the aging curve (dead ass prime) next year (if healthy- which he always has been absent freak occurrence last year) with probably a chance to have an mvp type season. Sucks for him that last year might have been his mvp type career season (almost 5 war while missing half the season) but he gapped to get hurt. all that said- completely agree with your take.
  6. Fair. We didn’t extend any of them early where we get all of their prime on 1 deal like the Braves, rays, Mariners and some others have done. They were all half measures with a couple years bought out, a couple years from FA. Risk adverse stuff from the club. We got Altuve entire prime because we extended him 3 times I think- but the others all went once and half measures. But, that is minimizing the fact that we did have some guys not walk along with those that did.
  7. It can. We’ve done a shitty job of extending our young guys early. I hope that changes.
  8. Last rate cut of 50 bips the national average for mortgage rates went from 6.1 to 7.1 over the next 30 days. That was fun.
  9. Spider banana calls that Tuesday.
  10. I don’t hate this idea either. you can even jump start a rebuild with cash ala the Mets when you decide to trade away assets. Hader 3/60 could get dealt for not much. Hader +40M gets you a couple top 100 prospects. Rinse and repeat as a for example. It doesn’t have to be as bleak as it was last time. If you take your shot now and fail and then decide you have to pull the cord because you aren’t good enough.
  11. Fucking Ortiz is worthless. Expect it to not happen and if it does not be cubs or yanks.
  12. Mine went from 2200 to 5100. That was fun.
  13. I miss him every day since he’s been gone.
  14. Then we should sign Bregman for 8 and Tucker for 10.
  15. Heyward might be a decent partner for a year to try with springer. He still had a little juice left and he’s opposite handed.
  16. 20M? 25M? Springer feels like the kind of guy that has a dead cat bounce left in him- as lots of great players do at this stage of their career and that turf up there allegedly is pretty brutal, but he might be completely washed.
  17. I was just riffing off his reunite the old gang stuff. Bregman walking for sure. Tucker traded looks plausible. Presley traded looks like they are trying. The rest probably not likely. It I’d trade Framber for sure.
  18. Collin Simmons, Anthony Hill and Manny M will all play at all American levels. This will be the best edge/Lb group we’ve had in my lifetime following the horns and we have a shut down corner too. I’m assuming Taafe comes back. We need DT’s obviously and we will get them, but we are going to be beyond fine if that happens which I suspect it will. Last year people were worried that 24 would be worse and I said better. I’m saying the same again. Watch and see. also- I bet we are tons better on special teams and at RB.
  19. This won’t be a rebuild year. We will be better next year than this year. Book mark it and check back after the portal.
  20. Meyers to Toronto for springer and 10M Tucker to Cubs for Paredes and OF bregman walks Framber for Correa. Pena for a solid 3. sign Walker. diaz/walker/altuve/correa/paredes/cubs OF/ Chas/LHH platoon guy/Springer/Yordan 6 plus bats, 3 average guys brown/arrighetti/pitcher from Pena trade/blanco/garcia/blubaugh/LMJ/ Javier back as a late season bullpen guy. trade Presley. Thats a net financial push with all those moves. you are competitive through yordans contract expiring in 4 years. You have some guys in the minor leagues that might be ok coming up. You don’t have any money on the books past 2028.
  21. Dallas won’t be tough. OU will suck out loud again.
  22. Wait, what? Do you think that we are going to see net migration out of Texas and out of Austin b/c (State) politics are too conservative? I will go ahead and put whatever amount on the opposite of that proposition as you want to. Texas will be a net migration winner for my entire lifetime (and I'm a man- I'm 46 damn it) I would bet lots of money on. It's the trend and has been since the creation of air conditioning.
  23. Why? Do neither of them have aspirations of being good next year? He made sense at Duke. I don’t see a program with playoff aspirations making sense pursuing him.
  24. I doubt it. They should though. Framber too.
  25. The point is you are just rearranging your cap and eating all that money in 4 years when Alvarez and all the other guys are gone. You are committed to a rebuild then.
