Everyone is told where they stand and what they need to improve upon. If telling a previous year starter the truth prompts the player to leave, that is on the player.

We are envisioning different conversations between Sark and the players. It’s about the nuance of how the conversation is done. When you are running a business “how” you provide the message to an employee is just as important as the message.

I imagine following the Spring game that he got an as it stands now Holmes and Muhammad are the starters speech and that didn't sit well.

IMO sark should not be telling any 1st or 2nd string players in the spring that they may not start, unless he wants them to leave. A lot of things can change between spring and fall. Now if a player is demanding that the coach guarantee a starting role, that’s altogether different.

IIRC, if a college or high school game ended in a 0-0 tie, the team with most penetrations across the 50 was awarded the win.

This post brought up a nightmare memory. There was a large old neighborhood group of us that played intramural football at UT in the early 80’s. There were too many guys for one team, so we fielded 2, the best on one and the rest on the second who played one level down. The best team won several titles, including in the top class.

It was awesome to see because they would beat all these frats that drew from large populations, practiced a lot, etc. Our guys from the neighborhood were just 8 that grew up together and rolled out for every game and just played. These guys were great athletes and won football, basketball and softball titles at UT.

But the second team, on which I played, hadn’t won a title in the lower class. We always felt we weren’t holding up our neighborhood’s legacy. And the first team guys always gave us shit for it.

One year, we finally got our act together and played in the title game. With one play left it was 4th down near our end zone, the score was 0-0, but we led in penetrations. So all we had to do is keep them out of the end zone and we’d finally have a title.

Our DB intercepted the pass in the end zone and downed it, presumably ending the game. But the dumb fuck kid referee was so clueless he didn’t know football rules. He called it a safety instead. We argued with this idiot for 15 minutes but lost the appeal and the game 2-0. Thanks for reminding me. Dammit. To this day, we still catch hell from the guys for not also being on the wall at Gregory Gym.

  4. From UT

What rules did protesters break? Here's what UT Austin had to say

UT officials said more than 10 "known violations of Institutional Rules" were committed by protesters.

AUSTIN, Texas — More than 130 arrests were made during multiple pro-Palestine protests at the University of Texas at Austin in recent weeks.

More than half of those arrested now face charges ranging from criminal trespassing, to obstructing a highway or passageway, to interfering with public duties.

Some Austin city leaders say the arrests are overwhelming Travis County's legal system, leading others to wonder what rules were broken by protesters at UT.

According to the university, 11 "known violations of Institutional Rules" were committed during the April 24 and April 29 protests:

    • Erecting tents
    • Attempting to establish an encampment
    • Unauthorized use of amplified sound
    • Unauthorized use of tables on the South Lawn
    • Demonstrating in unauthorized locations/non-common areas
    • Use of face coverings to conceal identity
    • Failure to identify
    • Failure to comply with directives related to the above
    • Shoving staff
    • Items brought to use as weapons (guns, shields, objects intended for throwing)
    • Failure to follow city, state, and federal laws (criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, assault on public servant)

UT officials said the last two items were just examples and not comprehensive. They also said guns found at the protest were open carry and visible, even though the university would not share any photos of them.

What is UT's campus carry rule?

In 2015, Senate Bill 11 allowed those licensed to carry to bring a concealed handgun onto university campuses. It also gave public universities discretion to regulate campus carry.

Those with a license to carry are eligible to carry a concealed handgun on campus if they're 21 or older. They must also clear eligibility requirements like a criminal background, mental health history and substance abuse issues.

Concealed carry is "generally" allowed in outdoor areas as well as buildings and spaces accessible to the public. However, "a license holder may not carry a partially or wholly visible handgun on campus premises or on any university driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

Look, you know me......a little anyway but I came in this thread to call out a lie that you yourself have clearly confirmed and that is that the left doesn't lie and make shit up out of thin air. Nothing I say or post will be taken seriously, I know that. I am half trolling these people anyway. Sometimes it is fun to kick the hornets nest and watch them follow and neg all my posts across the site. You see how they are, they attack you just because you defended me once. Remember, they will never forget that.

Whatever I say/post will get twisted into something that it isn't just like it always is. I openly admit Trump is a pandering lying politician and you say the same for Biden but Biden gets a pass, go figure. Both Candidates are pieces of shit and we disagree on which one is worse. For all the people in here that think I'm some kind of unicorn in the way I think. That may be the case in here but it sure as hell isn't in the real world. The polls clearly show that not to mention my own experiences. Now I will leave you to it and go put on my tin foil hat and wait for more of my conspiracy theories to come true. Hopefully you got some of your street cred back from these CR Junkies but I doubt it.

    Dear Longhornlove:

I know you won't listen to any of the posts that are pointing out how uninformed and misguided you are, but if you would just step back for a few minutes and take a hard look at where you are going for political information, you might realize you have been swept up, along with millions of others, in massive, calculated disinformation campaigns meant to mislead citizens like yourself. There are many people like you. You are not alone.

You are absolutely reading and believing in utter nonsense. Like any good disinformation campaign, you will see a few videos and quotes that are real to make you think think the information is legitimate.  But these bad actors have carefully selected these "proof points" and taken them out of context or created much bigger fictional fantasies out of mispoken words, jokes, or typical brain farts we all have from time to time.

Now, I'm sure Biden like every politician has purposely lied about some things over time. After all he's been in policitics for over 50 years. Every politician has lied about certain topics. But what is critical to understand is politicians engaging in small untruths vs politicians conspiring to convey vast, often illegal, evil untruths in order to achieve personal profits, political party objectives, etc.

Your inability to distinguish between these two realities, and you also showing that you can be completely fooled by well known grifters like the source you quoted paints you as an absolute moron, and rightly so. To the educated population you look like a complete idiot. Do you really want to keep going through life that way? Or, would it be better for you to step away from garbage disinformation sources and try to learn true reality, vs the fantasy view of the world you are spewing? It's really sad seeing how stupid you look.

Congrats, I don't see myself ever pulling the lever for the big D either. I honestly hate both parties, just hate the Democrat party way worse. FYI, IMHO Biden is the biggest pandering political liar of my lifetime.

How about we both just list out all the lies from the two candidates and compare. I’ll do Trump. You do Biden. Since you’ve made the more provocative claim, you go first.

you come at me with ad hominem bullshit like that and expect civility?

    go fuck yourself.

biden is a boomer doing or allowing cruel boomers to do boomer things.

did i miss where he decried our governor sending in goons to back up a peaceful protest? he's always had a tough on crime old school boomer mindset. that's why he isn't succeeding with the youth.

but keep telling kids about infrastructure I'm sure they fucking love that

I have a vague recollection of you as a reasonable poster. But your unsubstantiated and wrong attack on Biden regarding young people is just flat out loony, and I’m not a Democrat.

He is one of the most genuine Presidents we’ve had in a long time and he has absolutely pursued policies to help young people, as several posters above have listed. If you think he should be doing a lot more, than you’ve forgotten that he also has to balance his decisions against other constituents, like Jewish Americans, minority groups, the aging, etc. Please go find your common sense. You sound completely unhinged.

This is an extremely important post. Both posters hit at the heart of the disagreement and issue being discussed.

SquishMitten is absolutely right. IMO it’s fine for the university to be well prepared for escalation and if necessary take firm action. The problem is that they took action too quickly. Would it have escalated to what has been seen elsewhere in the country? Yes it probably it would have. This demonstrates how important it is to be very very careful when taking action against protestors.

  9. Was talking with west coast tech folks and I’m getting the impression Abbott and Patrick have screwed up royally. Originally, Austin was seen as a great destination for tech companies because of the favorable business climate combined with more central politics.

Unfortunately, the far right policies of late, and the over the top political posturing have soured the tech community on the city and state. A lot of companies have now put on the brakes on future business plans in Texas.

    Dumbfucks.

My problem is that inflation is fundamentally too much money in the market - usually from debt based spending, and taxation is a direct way to remove money from the economy. That balance has been completely out of whack since the 2000s with the nonstop tax cuts and spending increases. No shit money is getting devalued!

The problem is that it's a pretty exclusive position in America that "taxation is theft" and other such platitudes about how the gubmint is taking muh munee. The parties will have a hell of a time making those ends meet, because the hatred of taxation has now sublimated into dogma and id. And there's still a fuckin boatload of federal subsidy pouring out more and more money.

There's gotta be a sink, or a negative input to a system. Otherwise it will invariably oscillate and escalate out of control

We agree, and if we agree that means it really should be done because we do not come from the same world outlook on many topics.

  11. I really don’t understand why there is so much arguing in this thread. The deficits being run right now are considered a serious issue by just about every credible economist and fiscal policy maker out there.

Both parties share the blame for this, some politicians more than others, and the only way to get this situation out of the extreme red zone is a combination of more taxation revenue carefully applied, more controlled spending, and using moderately higher inflation over the next 15 years to bleed away some of the debt as a percentage of gdp. That is the only solution. Period.

The faster the parties come to terms with it and try to start solving it, the faster the danger can be reduced. Otherwise the climb to catastrophe continues. Maybe we do all end up on Bitcoin.

  12. I don't understand the following post in an online site that exposes corporate misconduct. Maybe one of the mortgage folks here understands this:

Hunterbrook Media, a new media outlet that shares its stories in advance with an affiliated hedge fund, published a follow-up article on UWM Holdings (NYSE: UWMC — $10.2 billion), a wholesale mortgage lender. Hunterbrook Media said it “learned that a UWM executive set up a shell company that in 2019 was used to purchase and establish UMortgage, a Philadelphia-based mortgage company that brands itself as independent.” Hunterbrook also highlighted videos posted by a former UMortgage originator who claimed that “UMortgage leadership regularly manipulates its rate sheets to make UWM’s loans appear cheaper than those from other lenders — without telling the UMortgage loan originators whose responsibility it is to shop for the best deal on behalf of clients.”

The buyers agent Nuked the deal over their own pocket, and should be fired for that alone. Hell, we had a VA deal last year that the appraisal came in light and we had to cut our commission 6k to get it done. And this person is out here killing deals out of trying to squeeze out 2750 more.

I hear what you are saying and I probably would have dropped my commission to get the deal done, but unless I'm misunderstanding something, the buyer agent negotiated a rate with the buyer, but when it came time to pay that rate on the house they wanted to purchase, the buyer wasn't offering a high enough price to make the deal work. The fundamental issue goes back to what price the buyer negotiated with the agent.  I may be missing something here.

  14. While they’ve drafted to the positions of need, the only pick I like of the entire draft is the KSU pick. I’m going to predict massive busts. They got too enamored with athletic measurables.  Hope I’m dead wrong.

This is some of the most compelling data I’ve seen in a long time that talent is what wins championships. Obvious I know, but it also shows how impossible it is for a great coach to win with lower quality talent.
