Yeah I watch the US10Y closely as well. Put a chunk of an inheritance in Vanguard Inflation Protected Fund several years ago thinking it would just keep pace with inflation and protect the principle. Deposited the funds and forgot about it. First time in my life to put $$ in a "Bond" fund. Went to look at it recently and i'm down $40K and further research indicates it's all tied to the 10yr. That's what I get for deviating from my Index stock fund strategy. Got to wait it out now, its all in an inherited IRA anyway, but got to start taking money soon.
Ya that’s the problem with even inflation bonds. If rates move up, they can lose a lot of money too, and the inflation premiums on the basis may not cover it.

I want to welcome everyone to the island I’ve been inhabiting for awhile now. It’s strange to see almost everyone flip in unison to the realization he is not the future.
I originally thought he would get next year to turn it around, but based on what I’m hearing, I’m not so sure. The depth of the drop off is too much. There are some proud folks that aren’t happy, and I sure hope they follow thru. It’s time.

Terrific input by Rickylovesweed. It helps put these additions into context.

I miss Derka on the basketball board. I never thought I’d say that.

If you think Tramon Mark and Julian Larry are "low hanging fruits" you're clueless.
Once/if we land Pope, we will likely have the #1 or #2 portal class in the country based on Evan Miya's portal rankings.

What are these guys ranked in his rankings?

You want to debate the topic, then debate the topic. Don't be a 12 year old.
It was clearly explained to you on a post just above and you apparently have the intelligence of a 12 year old and can’t understand the basic concept, so the response was aimed perfectly at your level of intellect.

I absolutely believe Scottie has the talent to dominate for awhile. However....we've done this before. Rory was supposed to reel off 10 majors. DJ looked unstoppable for a bit. Jordan was hot for awhile. Morikawa looked dominant for a stretch, as did Rahm. Everyone cools off eventually. And Scottie is a family man, not obsessed with golf the way Tiger was. I think he can accomplish a lot but it's just so hard to do.
The Jack Nicklaus rule - “let’s see what happens once he has kids.” He called Tiger’s struggles right.

My take was based on him leaving, which thankfully for the game of golf he is not. He's still two faced (see Ryder Cup) but at least he's not two faced about it not being about the money. Not yet, anyways. Had he left, then in no way would it be a "wrong take".
You’re an idiot.

Wrong take. See below.

Of all the guys that made the jump, he was the only significant surprise.
Jay’s mismanagement of the tour and the LIV fight as a whole put himself and the tour in an impossible situation. But I can somewhat understand Rory and Rahm’s ire with the situation he put them in.
Exactly. No one should be badmouthing Rory. Besides the fact that the rumor is false, the PGA totally screwed him over by arranging a merger behind his back. He was charging on the front lines and the royalty in the back room was working on their own deals. I would not have blamed Rory, but the fact he’s still loyal is awesome. Love him

SEC transfer rules are going to turn Houston, Baylor and TCU into powerhouses!

This was the biggest problem.
All the players listed above by @Dbeasy were recruited as role players other than Abmas. They were expecting Disu, Hunter, and Mitchell to be starting caliber players and only 1 of those was truly a starting caliber player.
If you add just 1 transfer that was an above average Big 12 starter in place of Hunter and Mitchell, this Texas team would have been much better.
Okay I better understand what you are saying now. So that means Terry brought in a bunch of role players who didn’t even deliver well as role players, like Horton, AND he misread the talent level of guys he already had on staff. I agree with others that late in the year Shedrick looked better than early. Either way, the roster didn’t look good overall.
So, I’ll be interested to hear what you think of the final incoming group once all the dust settles. I’ve learned over the years in both sports and business that usually excuses end up being just that, excuses. Maybe this time will be different.

Remind me the story on Kirkland? I keep conflating him with Mitchell.
-
Is there a chance the 9.95’rs are in some cases misreading recruit interest? Every recruit’s agent wants their recruit to visit Texas and show strong interest in order to drive up NIL money offers from other schools.

The idea Texas “didn’t meet expectations” last year because of the portal makes zero sense to me.
Two of our best 3 players were from the portal (Abmas and Weaver). Last year’s roster didn’t hit their ceiling because they relied too heavily on returning players to be good (Hunter and Mitchell) and they simply aren’t.
The miscalculation last year was not recruiting over returning players like Mitchell with better players in the portal like Kaluma.
Oh come on. You are starting to sound like an unnecessary sunshine pumper rather than an objective evaluator. Here were the incoming transfers:
shedrick - underperformed; sure blame it on injuries but even when he was relatively healthy he didn’t meet expectations
Horton - totally underperformed, no debate whatsoever
Cheaver - good pick up, exceeded expectations
Onyema- non factor
Abmas - wasn’t bad, but most people would agree he didn’t have the impact expected.
And the existing guys failed to improve, but it wasn’t just the existing guys.

I have no idea whether these players are good or bad. But I do remember the same group here being excited about the acquisitions last year too, and none of those additions met or exceed expectations except Weaver.
Abmas was a positive addition but did not meet expectations. So while 87’s argument doesn’t make sense, we should all be a bit skeptical until we see some success on the court.

I’m shocked at all of the positive reviews here of the Curb finale. It was the same basic concept as the Seinfeld final. The writers showed zero creativity and the episode was a rehash of the same Seinfeld stuff. Terrible finale. Second worst in history behind Game of Thrones. The final season pretty much stunk too, with the same tired Leroy fuck jokes over and over.

So is this ASR thing also wrecking patios?

Baxter and Blue are two different types of runners. Between that and the fact that Baxter has been banged up, imo it’s too difficult right now to know if one is going to outperform the other. I would think the staff still believes Baxter will eventually get the nod.

Stop acting poor. Re-do the wall. Take out the panels and replace with something that’s not from the 1970’s. Jeesh.

Before we cease tensions could we have some stealth fighters and bombers swing by and obliterate the Iranian Nuclear facilities? Thanks.

I happen to like a few threads on here and will stay, and was merely responding here. imma has always been stubborn and mostly successful here, and I expect zero to come from my feedback. Let’s just move on.
So instead of just sitting there with your rich friends and being a sycophant, how about trying to educate them on the fact that this site supports freedom of speech and has a wide range of viewpoints?
The reality is that anyone who tries to wade in to the CR right now supporting just about any issue of the right has no basis for their position, so they get their ass handed to them.
Take any issue. The debt? The Republican President along with tax cuts put us in this mess and the Democrats can’t do anything even if they wanted to because of the House. Immigration? Republicans shat a turd on that, and proposed a dumb ass wall that Mexico would pay for (right). Foreign policy? Republicans sucking Russian cock in exchange for campaign funds is not a good look. Dealing with China? Trump put up a fake tax that did nothing, while Biden is at least strengthening our chip plants before China invades Taiwan. Foreign policy with allies? Trump was a disaster who was widely ridiculed by every foreign power. Abortion? The Republican party is firmly on the wrong side of that issue, despite the party’s supposed mantra of “keeping the government out of our lives”. Views of Trump by his own administration? Every single member of his cabinet, along with hundreds of generals have pointed out he is unfit for the office. AG, Chief of Staff, Secretary of State, etc.
And then there are the multiple indictments and serious charges of turning over our county’s most sensitive secrets to the Saudis, maybe Russia, and who knows else. Then there is the defrauding of his own charity foundation.
And I haven’t even touched the surface of dozens of other serious issues of the Republican nominee for President of the United States. His dishonesty. His corruption. Etc.
And you sit here and say this web site’s political views are the reason rich alumni won’t support their university? Do you realize how insane that sounds? Instead of blaming the site owner, how about you pull your head out of your ass and help other independents educate the rich right who haven’t realized yet they’ve aligned themselves with terrible unAmerican clowns.

So the F-35 has caught a lot of flak for being a mess of a development program, but we saw them fly last week at the San Antonio air show and they are really impressive.
Roadhouse remake. Yep, guess we gotta do this.

Finally watched it. Went in with my cheese ball meter properly calibrated. It was exactly that. I therefore had to watch every minute of it so that I can complain about it later. Actually didn’t recognize McGregor at first because I’m not a mma/ufc fan. His acting was horrific. Dumb movie but watchable if you have the right mindset going in.
