I have developed a theory of beer drinking called the Beer Circle of Life. It has been acknowledged as a seminal work in the world of alcoholic beverages and beer drinking in particular.
Central to my theory is that we all get bored and tired of the same thing over and over, and struggle physically and mentally with redundancy.
Therefore, in my Beer Circle of Life, the beer drinker starts by drinking pilsners and lagers. Consuming pilsners of German origin is strongly recommended, as they have superior taste.
After many months or year+, the beer drinker then moves to ales, kolsches and wheat beers. The slightly stronger taste invigorates the senses and strengthen one’s masculinity or femininity.
After many more months, the beer drinker shifts to porters, stouts, and bocks. These rich, robust beers prepare the beer drinker for the rest of the Beer Circle. One does not linger in this part of the circle for long, however. These beers become tiresome quickly, except for Guinness. One can drink Guinness anywhere and everywhere along the Beer Circle of Life.
Finally it is time to move to the IPA’s. Hazy, double, triple, whatever. This part of the circle is peak hops. In this part of the circle your life is fun, lively, and slightly like an obnoxious hipster. You can stay in this part of the circle for a long time but beware. Sooner or later your bowels will start to reject the ipa’s, and your mind will long for greater simplicity. At that point, it is time to return to the lagers and Pilsner’s.
I strongly recommend this approach to beer drinking. It will repair all other ills in your life.
