  1. at this point i feel like the organization doesn’t even care about winning so long as LeBron is there and increasing the value of the franchise. i’m certain they would rather have five more years of lebron and zero titles than this year and next year with lebron where he wins them a title and then retires.
  2. leroy, kam, laurel, cara, tony? real deal OGs? oh yeah, i’m in:
  3. i actually was against him coming here at the time as i (sadly) thought that abmas and hunter was a great starting back court, and that adding a volume shooting, high usage guy would only clog up minutes/shots/usage for what i deemed to be a really good starting back court. yeah, about that… still, while his addition would have improved our team, he probably couldn’t have landed in a better spot. lloyd’s style fits him perfectly, and he’s thriving. at the same time, man what an upgrade he would be over Hunter. damn.
  4. ok so including this matchup we have three matchups remaining in the regular season. i’m just gonna go ahead and say we shouldn’t make any more trades.
  5. caleb love transferring from unc to arizona might be the best all around transfer in the short history of the portal. really worked out well for all parties.
  6. this argument never fails to make me laugh. yeah i know lots of guys who turned into Coach K after 28 years of not being able to hack it, fair point!
  7. ole miss plays one good team and three meh-bad teams, Texas plays one bad team and three good teams. i don’t personally think that either team will go 3-1 but id be a lot more surprised by Texas taking 2/3 vs BU, TTU, and OU than i would ole miss taking 2/3 mizzou, a&m, and georgia.
  8. anybody? i’ve got someone enquiring about trading for one of my keepers but i don’t want to do it if we’re trying to make that a rule. otoh i defintely want to pull the trigger if it’s not a rule and we’re going to have our yearly late season arms race.
  9. ole miss has a realistic chance to finish the season 3-1, Texas has a realistic chance to finish 1-3. that would be my guess.
  10. i swear to god i’ll pistol whip the next guy who says "mess”.
  11. having to construct a new roster is just a part of coaching, it’s not a huge mess left behind by a guy who was fired last december.
  12. how come the mess didn’t affect RT until after the season ended?
  13. chris beard’s first year here he essentially ended up with a five man roster that was so unathletic that all five of them could barely dunk, never mind having any players on the level of max abmas or this year’s disu, and yet his talent was still evident: RT’s first team has more useful players, more shooting, more athleticism, more size, more time spent together, more depth, and on and on, and yet the on-court product is mercurial and underwhelming. RT is routinely getting out coached, both on game days and off days. but yeah, i’m sure RT will just kill it next year with an inferior, younger, less talented roster. he just needs time. year 29 is gonna be his year!
  14. not really. roster wise we’re in fine shape, we just aren’t a great team. RT got to coach the team for half the season, he won the big xii tourney title, then he went to the elite 8. he even managed to keep our highly rated recruiting class committed and supportive throughout the season. he was in as good a shape as he could have asked for. the mess started when RT lost his entire recruiting class to australia and the g league, followed by him whiffing repeatedly on top transfer targets. as good as RT’s finish to the season was, his start to the offseason was just as bad, and in the end we’ve ended up with a roster that’s a)not constructed ideally, but b)constructed well enough with enough talent to not be the mercurial mess that it is. Beard didn’t leave a huge mess, he left a great foundation to build on. the mess started after the season ended, when RT was finally confirmed as the man.
  15. i posted that chart here earlier this year that showed that Texas is one of the most volatile teams in the country, prone to both giving up as well as going 10-0 (or more) runs. we saw it in the miami game last year, and it’s never really stopped. there’s no stability, nothing you can count on from this team game to game, or even tv timeout to tv timeout. we have no foundation, and RT has no identity. so many people here posting about how “we have no way to know what next year’s team will look like”, as if there’s any combination of available players we could sign where it would matter. as long as RT is in charge we’re spinning out wheels, it’s that simple.
