  1. PGA officials must have been really scared of the lawsuits. That is the only explanation to this bullshit.
If I were the players I'd want the lawsuits to proceed to see how much bullshit ($$$) the officials were hiding and banking.

They were already found to be in violation of antitrust laws in the 90s but no action was taken.

I posted this Texas artist Adele Brunet still life earlier in this thread. My wife wants to send it to auction at David Dyke Fine Art in Dallas. They specialize in Texas and have sold several of her pieces.

If anyone here is interested in it let me know. Truly beautiful piece but we have no place for it. Dyke estimates 1K to 2K range. Not trying to”eBay” it but would just as soon let someone from here have it.

  4. Wasn’t their argument that Paxton was elected by the people so wait until the next election and let the people decide? They don’t seem interested in the same for phelan and he didn’t even break the law!

Well, the people we elected voted for impeachment so it’s a push.
  5. If there's another thread for ebikes, let me know (I looked and didn't fine one), but wanted to see if anyone here uses one. I'm looking at an Aventon Level 2 for $1700 or a Trek which I test rode this weekend which was about $3500. I'd use it for daily commute and chores, I have a regular hybrid and a road bike for fitness. I'd use this strictly for commuting without breaking too much of a sweat. The Aventon has a throttle which I like as I might want it when its 100 degrees in the summer and I just want to get to work and back without drenching my clothes. I don't think Trek's have a throttle option, but their motors I think are mid drive which is supposed to be superior to rear hub (which Aventon is) and can be nearly as effortless as a throttle (from what I've read). Just curious if anyone has any thoughts or insight. I just started researching this weekend.

Have only spent a little time on a mid drive on off road paved trails. Was nice and the torque sensor was pretty smooth vs a cadence sensor like on most hub drives. It was underpowered though. 250 watt.

Have done a few hundred miles on a hub drive in urban environment. Love the throttle in this environment. Use it to zip through intersections or navigating tricky sections.

Correct there are +/- to each drive. Mid drive puts a lot of strain on the drivetrain, chain and cogs, and if you break a chain it’s pedal only. Sucks on a heavy e-bike.

Hub drives are heavy and you need to keep your spokes tensioned correctly but mid electronics are usually more sophisticated.

Yeah. A favorite band at one of my favorite venues on my birthday. I was mesmerized by Johnny Marr while everyone else was watching Morrissey.

My Mount Rushmore. This one hurt, saw him at a DJ set about a decade ago. Feels like it was yesterday, RIP.

  8. I caught the Femmes at Liberty Lunch sometime back in 88 or 89. Then I forgot about them for a bit until I was listening to my CDs at home and fell in love with their sound again. Bought tickets to see them at the amphitheater at COTA but it got cancelled due to covid. Were they in Austin? I wish I were there, dammit.

    Stubbs tonight?
  9. Yes, it was. Too bad that album is slightly front-loaded. The post self-titled stuff is almost a let-down of sorts. I do love "American Music" though. That's a fun closer.

I would have liked some more from The Blind Leading the Naked. I think “ I Held Her in My Arms”was the only one.
  10. Well, he doesn't use a real drum kit most of the time (if not all the time). Just the stand-up drum with the "sticks" that are the ones that flay out -- not sure what they're called. Oh, and he had a Weber kettle charcoal grill up there that he played near the end. Gordon can play pretty good guitar. Ritchie is the bassist and I thought he usually used a stand-up but it's been awhile since I'd seen them. He basically had an acoustic guitar with what seemed like very loose strings to get his sound.
They're still a shit-load of fun to see live. I highly recommend it if you like that first album.

Two snares and brushes mostly. Also a Weber and a wood box.
  11. I liked that album in my college rock days.  Caught the Femmes on the first Lollapalooza tour (Dallas).  While they weren't a particularly GOOD band (as players) they sure had a sound.  I don't think I ever saw them again, glad to see they're still out on the road.

I think Brian Ritchie is pretty talented bassist. Assuming he was using an Ernie Ball Earthwood most of the time. Tone on that thing is sweet.
