  1. Burton though is like the opposite of Ketch in these situations, he's not one to oversell what is taking place right now between the parties.
  2. lol Zach Barnett thinks deciphering the location of the interview room marks the depth of our depravity...if he only knew about the cryptic squid account.
  3. lol I can't even imagine this place if Herman isn't fired by Monday.
  4. My God I hope Patterson isn't on his list.
  5. Yeah, that part was really silly. Also, who fucking cares if he's a narcissist? So what? Although the show tried to sell it as of being paramount importance to his guilt, nothing the wife said was material to his guilt or innocence.
  6. I didn't know he had a restaurant in Columbus. Might as well close this thread there's no way he's leaving that behind for some coaching gig.
  7. Please don’t neg me for asking a dumb question, but what is the beef between Meyer and Herman? Meyer really doesn’t like Herman?
  8. The point of her research is that the 300k figure is inaccurate if you look at the actual trends in deaths per year for all causes as well as specific causes. See the 31 minute mark of her presentation for instance.
  9. So it's totally expected that for there to be no evidence that COVID has created any excess deaths in the US in 2020?
  10. This is interesting. https://web.archive.org/web/20201126223119/https://www.jhunewsletter.com/article/2020/11/a-closer-look-at-u-s-deaths-due-to-covid-19
  11. Why are you libs so unwilling to engage in this honest debate with this good faith total not-a-troll? Is it because you're afraid you'll be destroyed with his facts and logic? What is so difficult to understand about my post? AOC is a dead end. Someone like her cannot build a broad enough coalition to be an effective leader at the national level. That’s why Republicans want to make her the face of the Democratic Party and to center the political debate around her pet issues. I guarantee you they would not want anything to do with a true populist in the fashion of someone like Long. Long was not a fraud like Trump - he actually cared about and fought for working people. He’s someone who could easily reach people who do not hold a college degree and turn them away from the right.
  12. This is the dumbest thing I’ve read in quite some time.
  13. Maybe the most depressing thing about politics today is that there are threads discussing someone like AOC as the future hope for reforming our frayed social contract and not about someone who is more like the second coming of Huey Long. There is a reason why Kingfish was assassinated while the right loves to boost AOC’s profile. She’s harmless.
  14. I feel like Marco's time has passed and Nikki Haley will be the Marco Rubio of 2024 and will go down in flames against the eventual nominee - Tucker Carlson. Also, regarding his tweet, I don't see the Biden administration being dovish on China. What does Silicon Valley, the new administration's biggest patron, get out of such a policy? I think it's much more likely Biden is as hawkish towards China as Trump was, although with a more professional veneer.
  15. I just think it's funny that she's still sucking up to Biden when it's obvious she's going to get nothing out of it. Also, it's humorous that Yellen's biggest success as fed chair was helping get Trump elected.
  16. I'm sure AOC is fine for her district and could maybe mount a competitive senate campaign in NY someday, but I don't see support for her being broad enough to be an effective leader for the party or to be successful in national elections.
  17. this is her from February of this year so I would be skeptical of her being supportive of robust stimulus in the first place https://www.marketplace.org/2020/02/04/debt-inequality-and-the-coronavirus-a-conversation-with-former-fed-chair-janet-yellen-and-the-world-banks-david-malpass/ Of course in the same interview she blames growing inequality and stagnant wages on the "skills gap" twaddle. You have to be very learned to be this stupid.
  18. There was no reason whatsoever to send him to AAA for 67 PA in 2014 other than to hold him down just enough to get another year of control. It was the most blatant and transparent shit ever. Other teams have certainly been guilty of it (Bryant and the Cubs took a lot of heat off of what the Astros did with Springer at the time), but it's not universal. Look at how the Orioles handled Machado, for instance.
  19. I didn't say rates were never increased, but they were kept relatively low compared to other periods of similar growth. Compare those rates to the rates that obtained prior to the 2008 crash, for instance.
  20. 1st quartile refers to the bottom quartile, not the top quartile.
  21. I think overall the President has little to do with immediate macroeconomic outcomes. However, interest rates are one area that clearly has an immediate impact on the labor market and the President has some control in that arena given his ability to appoint the Fed chair. As stupid as Trump is, he was right about the need to keep interest rates low even as wages began to rise. This also illustrates how powerful a tool dollar hawkishness is for maintaining inequality.
  22. You realize the Y-axis is the percent increase in wage growth, right? So those wages were growing at a higher rate for low income workers during Trump's first three years than at any point during Obama's second term. What you're referring to is the rate of increase in the rate of increase.
  23. I think one of the principal reasons for low wage earners doing so well is the Fed not raising interest rates during that time. Who has been the one hammering insistently on the need for low interest rates over the past four years? Would that have occurred under President Sister Hillary, who knows? I think she would have been far less aggressive though about the need to keep rates low as this cuts against establishment thinking.
