  1. Right there with you. The older I get the more I believe in the theory that you win upfront. We harassed Cade a decent amount. They couldn’t run when needed. We mostly protected well and ran when it mattered. Mostly anyway. As for your QB hits, this is one reason I’m a big Sam fan. It absolutely impacts your passing game. And for years opposing defenses want to hit the QB. Run or pass the hits add up.
  2. I do find some humor in your exaggerations. And also some irony in that drag you other players down in your counters to anti-Quinn stuff.
  3. BO&W seemingly had some childhood drama. Colt was the best player on his offense and one of the few drafted on those last two offenses. In my opinion he’s underrated in college football lore.
  4. He’s trying to prove a point.
  5. In the past 3 games, 13 catches, 3 drops. Struggle with math or what? That is too many drops although I think it was a fair chance the sun played a part yesterday.
  6. This is correct. We’ve played few top flight WRs. And I’m not sure we’ve played many good #2s. Few good QBs. Not many great lines either.
  7. @Codaxx Couple things I thought you might find interesting. PFF grades look to have changed so maybe a work in process. We were 3-6 beyond 10 air yards. Clemson 9-16. The 16 is not a high percentage but the 6 is quite low. Juan Davis played his 2nd most snaps yesterday. It’s Arkansas then Clemson then A&M. As for blocking snaps it’s Arkansas then A&M then Clemson. There are likely clues in there why we do what we do. He’s only pass blocked 18 times all season.
  8. You are fighting two arguments with absolute legitimacy here. Our defense versus Clemsons defense is no comparison. Cade was trying to stave off a blowout so he likely got a little careless a few times then rebounded. His pass catchers made some great catches, but those throws were on the money too. And several have mentioned it, but every QB has some ill advised plays in every game. That was both guys. Then the 1st and 15 over an 2nd and 15. You’re correct. If that was truly how it played out, you risk the penalty. But it was only 1 play.
  9. What were you referencing? Or did you just go on “feel?” Yes, MSU is an awful defense. ULM actually had pressure so are you going to discount that? Those are simply the numbers.
  10. PFF has Arch with a turnover worthy rate at less than half of Ewers. Ewers rate last year was slightly less than Arch this year.
  11. And that shit is what we call “facts.”
  12. You said earlier something about our fans being smart or something. Threw out some facts and figures to counter a comment about the defense. Funny. Maybe not. So I’m guessing you’re saying that’s a No.
  13. The precursor to Malik Murphy?
  14. @Thatguy ”Our defense was so deplorable….” What were you saying about our fans? Losses were to a top 10 NFL pick at Qb with tons of experience. Two other first round picks from that offense. A second tackle that’s already started in the NFL. That doesn’t include a frosh all American C or the fastest TE at the NFL combine. The other loss had a QB that’s in this years playoff, has won for 3 different programs and was given 3 turnovers. Top 10 in DFEI. Top 10 in ESPN efficiency defense. Higher than the offense in both. Second in 3rd down defense. Top 10 in red zone defense even higher in red zone TD percentage. I am sure we can then go to well the secondary sucks. Passes defensed #19. Sacks 39th. Tied for 10th in picks. Tied for 16th in picks for returned for a TD. Tackles for loss 28th. Our opponents had 15 offensive draft picks. In the first 100 picks. 30% of offensive picks in the top 100. I’m not sure a single one was an RB. Doesn’t include Bond or Golden. Doesn’t include Gabriel or Milroe. Just pitiful talent we played against. Well “Dillon Gabriel threw for a lotta yards.” Nevermind he had 7 games with more passing yards. And it was his lowest passer rating of the season. Oh and Jalen Milroe had his 2nd lowest passer rating (behind Michigan) and only game with 2 picks (set us up at the Bama 5 and 30,respectively). And only Michigan held them to fewer points the entire season. Defense pretty much higher rated in every way than our offense given the relative strength of our opponents. Offensive schedule strength of those opponents was 10th.
  15. I’d say every defense wants 3 and outs. There has been some discussion here about how to play us. I’ll take it as a given that youd play pass first versus us. What if you’re DC for any team in the country. What is your first objective on D? Take the Army’s, the Navy’s out of the equation as they’re so run heavy. And here’s one thing you know. There’s only 1 QB in the country at less than 5 yards per attempt. About 10 at less than 6 yards per attempt.
  16. Was it you or someone else that said we had 8 50+ yard plays this year? 6 passes, 2 runs. At least 2 of those passes were behind the LOS. We’ve upped the frequency of deeper throws since the UF game. I think we’ll be just fine versus Clemson.
  17. Your first statement is the truth. As for Auburn he made several kicks. You’re saying he needed to make one more. Even if he makes all his kicks, we’re never up more than one score so who knows how it plays out.
  18. From my perspective, I think the “culture” helps tremendously in that the daily competition pushes each player to their limits. The staff is not satisfied with the status quo either. Each year Sark has upgraded the talent level. I don’t think it’s as dramatic as others may think, but it’s pointed to specific things. Moore for example may not jump off the stat sheet, but he fits this defense and gives great effort. So where we are is there aren’t weaknesses and individual failures are less apparent. I’m not talking about perfect roster because those don’t exist. I love Taaffes success for several reasons. Helm too as he stuck with it. Same for Collins, Broughton even though more highly touted. Hope we don’t lose guys like this in college football due to the portal and overall environment. Overall talent we can compete with anyone. We just need to lean into our relative strengths against those like Georgia that have significant talent too.
  19. One of the reasons Georgia has been the best program of the past 5 years is right here. And they’ve had tons of success on the defensive front - recruits, wins, NFL guys. All teams pretty much attempt to win right here. You can argue that at the collegiate and pro level Georgia wins as much as anyone in that department. Oh and that have a top notch defensive guy running the show. Your LBs are toast if the Ol consistently get to them. So your DL has to win battles or command double teams. We’ve had significant success here the past 2-3 years.
  20. What you call Nickel I call OLB. When we’re in on defense, do we not run Nickel against that same package?
  21. Where did you get this? Looks like the Ewers sucks at the deep ball might deserve some reconsideration. Why no Dart?
  22. As JerryHubbard said, we got #2. And #4 if you believe that is true has more experience than the other theoretical #2. In the conference slate of 8 games, we averaged more yards per rush than anyone. 4.63 to 4.38 as 2nd best. Our QB run game was non-existent. For others it was not. I rewatched a bit of the Georgia game. Think 2nd series play 1. Wisner loses 3 yards. Actually pretty well blocked. Wisner takes a false step to the right(presumably designed) so it leaves far too big a gap between pullers and the ball carrier. Maybe LBs keying guard because he doesn’t budge and shoots inside. As much as Sark problem as anyone. Refusal to have some QB run is a detriment.
  23. What part exactly? Baylor and ISU in 2022 were finished off by running the ball down their throat. Same for Bama 2023. Arkansas got a heavy dose of run late this year. Heck maybe TCU in 2021. I am guessing we’ve rarely thrown deep on 1st and 2nd down when up in 2nd halves. First drive 2nd half that 21 OU game we ran wide and lost about 3 on first then threw nothing deep on 2nd or 3rd. Tech in 2022 was somewhat sporadic, but we tried running including 4th and 1 on opening drive 2nd half that got stuffed. No deep balls on that drive. Sark has tweaked our approach year over year to adjust for perceived weaknesses.
