Huh? If Liberty is the highest ranked G5 champ they absolutely will get the 12 seed.

not sure why you think they wouldn’t.

    I don't think they wouldn't..

While I agree, they have to incentivize conference champions for TV + tickets. For your system to work, they’d all have to agree to no CC games which is never going to happen.

Why would they agree to no CC games? The Big 12 brought back its CC game to avoid another 2014 TCU situation. Just because they don't result in automatic bids doesn't mean they can't boost a conference's profile (and make money).

    Random thoughts:

    - I believe every Big 12 CCG has featured a 2 loss team or worse since they brought it back. Everybody is heaving dirt on Okie State right now, but they’ve had weirder seasons than winning out this year. After the Utah loss last night, I don’t see many paths for them to get 2 teams in. The best path was Utah and BYU splitting the Holy War and the CCG and each team finishing with 1 loss. Maybe a 1 loss K Steak gets revenge and the knocks off an undefeated BYU in the CCG and they get 2 in.

    - Good to excellent chance Clemson wins the ACC and is seeded higher than Georgia. When people say the regular season doesn’t matter anymore, they’ll point to this example. The ACC was pretty clever not to schedule Clemson and Miami in the regular season. I think a 1 loss Miami would be in, and I’m convinced they’d lose to Clemson if they played today. That’s how you game scheduling folks.

    - I’m pretty concerned Liberty wins out and gets the 12th seed. Their schedule is a joke and they just canceled a game against their toughest remaining opponent. I pray they slip up. A 12-0 Liberty, best win is East Carolina,, in the CFP is going to deeply piss BIG and SEC fans that get left out. It’s why I don’t think the current model is long for this world. That said, a Texas home game against Liberty is the next thing to a bye.

Whether Liberty wins out or not, a G5 team will get the 12 spot. The current format is dogshit tbh. Way too many flaws with the seeding. My preference would've been 8 teams and no automatic bids/bye weeks. There's never been more than 8 teams that deserved at shot at a title.. but that obviously isn't gonna happen.

Agree but I'm not going to lie I want him to start vs Blow U so he finally sees a legit college defense but opposite their shittastic offensive line & scheme we run very little risk of losing even if he fucks up on a couple of possessions.  Keep Ewers on the sideline unless things get close.

I do not want him starting the Georgia game unless we are trying to trick UGA and then send Ewers in for the 2nd drive and beyond.

We need to just hold Quinn out until the national championship game. Let Arch get experience throughout the season/playoffs, then bam, send Quinn out to bring home the title.

Total speculation, but I think a thing Mack does is identify multiple power pivots of a program, whether it be administration or significant donors, and form deep, lifelong friendships with them. I think he's very good at that, especially one on one. I'm not saying those friendships are all disingenuous, but he does tend to barricade himself inside loyal power brokers. I think he's very tactical and focused on buying himself longevity. Before someone inside a program can even entertain a change in coaching direction, they have to weave their way through his loyalty armor. Honestly, I believe a lot of people do this, in any occupation, just as a self preservation bubble. But I think there are few people as good or better at that than Mack Brown.

It'd be interesting to hear from someone in the UNC realm who knows the ins and outs of their decision hierarchy. I'd wager that Mack has long, late night phone calls with several of them where he tells them everything he's learned they like to hear about themselves.

    It doesn’t count if he doesn’t throw a pass…

seriously though, they can play in 4 games and not affect their redshirt season.

I'm aware. But (knock on wood) we could actually need him at some point (unlikely, but possible given Quinn's injury history). If we wanted to get him some live reps, at least throw it a couple times. Nitpicking, but there was no benefit in burning another game.

So where does UNC rank in the pantheon of college football jobs open next year?

I am guessing Florida is far and away #1, but what they of coach are we talking about for UNC? Like retread or cheap coordinator or are they still at the point that they will garner real interest?

Given UNC's brand, recruiting geography, and how shitty the ACC is, a good coach should be able to regularly win 10+ games there.

People seem to be forgetting the lumps that Quinn took to get to where he currently is. We don't get Bama and Michigan Quinn with out first getting 2022 OSU and TCU Quinn, Arch is going to have to have those games to be as good as he can be but it's going to result in an L or two for Texas.

That team had a lot of holes and Quinn was still very raw. Arch may have some struggles but I doubt it'll be that bad. He's stepping into a much better situation.
