  1. I am clearly on the Simon band wagon for now. He shows excellent vision running zone, he always falls forward, and has broken more tackles than any other RB on the year (at least that was the case coming into the SHSU game). He seems to be the most versatile of the RBs, not names Wisner and Baxter. Blocking could move Gibson above him.
  2. this is your comment it applies directly to the rule that states: "No simulated replacements or substitutions may be used to confuse opponents," the rule states. "No tactic associated with substitutions or the substitutions process may be used to confuse the opponent. This includes any hideout tactic with or without a substitution." By your own admission it is illegal. Now you are just spinning, pretending you did not say they did it with the intention to confuse the defense.
  3. "If properly officiated, the second down play should have resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of 15 yards assessed from the previous spot," the conference said. "Appropriate accountability will be applied without additional comment." The statement referred to NCAA football rule G-2, Article 2, related to "unfair tactics." "No simulated replacements or substitutions may be used to confuse opponents," the rule states. "No tactic associated with substitutions or the substitutions process may be used to confuse the opponent. This includes any hideout tactic with or without a substitution." SEC is pretty clear on how they feel the play should have been officiated and how they expect it to be officiated in the future. I underlined the important aspect of the rule.
  4. Waiting to see Clark's lateral cutting ability to show up in missed tackles. He seems to go down at first contact. You can see his cutting ability but waiting to see it translate.
  5. vs light boxes that led to 0 scores. So YIPPEEE!!! I have Simon so high, because he had 67 yards after contact and 5 broken tackles in his debut vs UTEP. That was impressive, since he had 17 carries for 67 yards.
  6. Wisner is #1 with 5.0, which is sad. (The 5.0 being sad. After 3 cupcakes, you would hope multiple people would be up around 6)
  7. Both of those are solid defenses. Florida defense is giving up 1.23 pts per drive (23rd).. that is probably under-rated, as the offense has been really bad. They are on the field a lot. OU is giving up .78 (8th) Unfortunately, I think Arch is going to have to carry this team vs both. I just do not have a lot of faith in the Texas OL or run game.
  8. I just want to see more of Simon. No idea if he sucks in pass pro, but he has been the most impressive RB for me this season. Ill be the first to admit it is a small sample size, but I would like to see if it is more than just that.
  9. That is going to be really helpful. I look forward to the next 3 pages of rehashing the same old arguments.
  10. It is good, but it is not a record for passer rating. Kyler Murray had a 348.04 rating once
  11. That could have been the TE leak play, but I did not watch a 2nd time.
  12. Deep ball to Washington immediately comes to mind. The odd thing about Arch is he has made 2nd and 3rd read throws but has frozen on the 1 read stuff the last few games. Hitting those 1 read throws on time will bring the passing game to where it was last year.
  13. I wouldn’t expect either offense to run the ball well. OU has real issue on the OL. Their DBs did struggle vs Auburn in 1 on 1s (Auburn has 1 of the best WR rooms). They were getting beat deep. This looks like a rock fight, that explosives and turnovers will make the difference.
  14. If you do it every game, you are a douche if you do it once, tell people to stop being pussies
  15. I really don’t give a shit on this. If anything I liked it at the time. I don’t won’t to see it again, but Arch needed to play with confidence and show some emotion. If it takes a little taunt vs a paraplegic to get his swagger back, I am fine with it
  16. Easier to cover playing CB than Nickle and a lot less asked mentally.
  17. He is giving up 10 yards a target according to Babers. The big TD vs OSU is inflating that, but it is not good. He is probably the biggest worry on the defense. People will target him and Littleton. Littleton is young and I expect another game like SJSU, but I am reasonably confident he will be a reliable positive for the defense later in the year. I do not have the same confidence on Guilbeau.
  18. That is 100% true. It near impossible to predict how the mind works. Anyone married and/or with children can confirm that. I just think Manning sat there all off-season wondering if he could live up to the hype. Perhaps if he had done it for 5-7 game that would not have been there, but who the hell knows.
  19. I completely agree, but that is pretty common with young runner in year 1. I think Clark is the most elusive RB on the roster. You can see his cutting ability. I am sure in HS he was able to bounce things outside and get the edge 80-90% of the time. Sometimes it takes a while before they realize that shit doesnt work in college. Physical aspect is very obvious. The question now is does he have poor vision or just the typical bad habits of a young RB.
  20. Changing the variables can significantly alter the results. I have wondered if Arch took over last year, if he and Texas are not in a much better spot this year.
  21. I am honestly excited to see Simon mature. He looks exactly what this offense needs. He showed solid vision and toughness. I did not see much pass pro, so that might be an issue. If it is, the staff needs to drill him on it hard to get him ready.
  22. Why are you bringing up Clemson? They finished 16th in rush defense in the ACC last year (out of 17 teams) and 85th in the nation. That was a terrible rush defense. By the way, Texas A&M finished 11th in rush yards per play allowed in the SEC. Both of those defenses were below average in their conference (Clemson being horrific). My point was not that the OL was terrible at running the ball the last few years, it was that they have not been physical. They are screeners and ran outside zone. That type of blocking can struggle in short yardage situations, because they do not move people. You also need to be athletic and have RBs with great vision to run it successfully. Texas is migrating away from outside zone to gap blocking this year. That requires a more physical mindset and moving people. As you probably saw I sounded the alarm about the OL watching the OSU game. Since then, I have seen this OL struggle to run vs SJSU and UTEP. It is early, so things can change but I have my reservations about this run game. I was just talking about how much I loved watching Simon vs UTEP. He ran for 3.9 per carry and averaged 4.2 yards after contact. Imagine what Simon would have looked like if the OL gave him a couple yards before contact, instead of slightly behind the LOS. To be honest, I did not think saying the OL lacked physicality would be controversial. It is odd to me, because the DL is really physical and has been for 3 years or so.
  23. I get that. Sark is not immune to criticism here, but being able to run the ball in short field situations makes calling plays 100x easier
  24. Ill put this as a counter. Physicality has been a continual issue with the OL. People continue to bitch about Sark and the play calls in the redzone. The bigger issue the last few years, is the OL cannot move people. They are generally screeners. I kind of got that when the line was more athletic. They are less athletic and through 3 games still appear to be a finesse OL. Arch is currently the most pressured QB in the SEC. The number is in the high 30s as a percentile of drop backs. That is vs pretty weak DLs and an OSU team that played coverage the vast majority of the game (also why the run game looked better)
  25. I prefaced it with that, so no disagreement here.
