  1. Who was in a panic? Said all week that Texas wins easily if every offensive drive ends in a kick. Mathematically it’s pretty easy to underestimate giving up 0 pts.
  2. Cool, you must have a lot going on. I underestimated the defense and the run game. Glad they carried the load, especially the OL. Run game improvement the last few weeks is one of the better developments. Still think the pass game needs to improve to see Texas deep in the playoffs. I guess it is possible that Quinn can be the Texas version of Dilfer. I’ll be happy if that is how it plays out
  3. you are right. It was Acho
  4. The numbers are the numbers. You can believe them or not. If you want to do the work and actually prove there is a flaw in them, I welcome you
  5. Georgia is legit. That one DT was throwing DJ around. I do think Wisner is running the OZ much better. He is cutting that play back way more frequently than he was at the time of the Georgia game. Hitting inside the guard as opposed to outside the TE. Georgia speed makes it really hard to win on the perimeter (outside runs and screens) OL was credited with giving up 2 sacks vs Georgia. Lot of the issues were 2 fold. Quinn's inability to navigate a pocket (well documented) and Georgia getting good match-ups vs the TEs and RBs. People see 7 sacks and immediately say OL. That is not usually the case. Sack rates are one of the most consistent things when QBs change teams in the NFL. Flood needs to mix up his protections more. You can not allow Kirby to scheme up match-ups where NFL first round guys are being blocked by Helm and Wisner in pass pro.
  6. you do 1st half numbers. I said A&M was the perfect Quinn game. Struggled early, Heisman level 2Q, and turned the ball over the 2nd half. Everyone understands Quinn has the potential to be elite. The issue with Quinn is volatility and consistency. You never know what Quinn will show up in a game. You can say that about every quarter. He can be elite at times and absolutely wretched. so not good reads and poor decision making.
  7. This makes the assumption that people judge to first time starters that same way they react to 3rd year starters. This is basically, people are going to be pissed when Arch makes the same mistakes that Quinn does with 30 less starts.
  8. Okafor told that story. He said a fan sent an email to Coach Boom. Not sure I believe that, but good story
  9. understand, but his workload is a concern. I hope my fears turnout to be unwarranted.
  10. To be fair, Collins was actually highly graded by PFF last year. He was more of a known commodity. Broughton was a pleasant surprise. There is also another big difference. Broughton and Collins are 5 year players. That played a lot of football. That is not the case for next year. Savea is the only one that fits the mold of an older player with a lot of snaps (assumes he is red shirting like OnTexas has said). Texas needs at least 2 DTs next year. Its much harder to bet on underclassmen to make big jumps on the LOS.
  11. I lean bit more to the later. Texas only has basically 1 Rb they trust. Love what Wisner has done, but he has 59 carries the last 2 weeks (63 touches). That is lot of work for any RB, but insane for one that likely does not weigh 200 pounds. Feels like that is based on necessity, not trying to get the run game going.
  12. Ark- 56% UK - 60% A&M- 64% there are 134 teams in CFB. 89 teams throw the ball more that 45%. 16 teams are at 40% or less.
  13. That was exactly my pt. Sark has not been balanced recently
  14. Sark has called run plays at 55% or more in 5 games this year (CSU, ULM, Ark, UK, and A&M). Margin of victory in ULM and CSU was 100 pts, so absolute blow outs. Lot of running late in the game to skew results. He has also done it the last 3 games. He is doing to protect the defense. I give him credit for that. You know he wants to chuck it deep and win with an exciting brand of football, instead he is calling plays to protect his defense.
  15. Yes, last game was a showdown of inept QB play. Getting Pressure on Beck is going to be paramount. He is great in a clean pocket (91 PFF). He is terrible with pressure (36 PFF grade, 10 turnover worthy plays in 65 attempts). He has looked much better lately. Last 3 games he has been very good. Their WRs like to drop the ball (Arian Smith, I am looking at you)
  16. I think you need to look back to the preseason to understand the general frustration. There were questions about the defense. This was a team expected to win with its offense. Big things were expected out of the OL and the 5 star QB in his 3rd year as a starter, especially the passign game. Now compare that to how the team finished the season. They are winning, because the defense and OL is dominating. The passing game has been the worst aspect of the team (outside of kicking). The last 3 games the passing game has averaged under 200 yards vs suspect pass defenses. The starting QB has given up more pts (14) than the defense (10). Of course, people are questioning the QB. Any rational person would at least wonder what a 5 star QB that adds to the running game would do for the team. The one thing this team needs is consistent QB play. That is one thing Quinn has proven he cannot give the team. A&M game was a perfect example of that. Quinn struggled early, looked like Heisman candidate in the 2Q, and finished turning it over twice in the second half. In that backdrop it is not surprising that fans are arguing between an inconsistent 3 year starting QB and the promise of an inexperienced QB with potential on a team with NC talent. It won't end until Quinn plays to his abilities or Manning comes in and shows what he is capable of bringing to the team. As a Texas fan, I hope it is the former. If it is the latter, it will be a very bumpy road.
  17. Yes. Sark has basically gone to playing Akers football. To beat Georgia the passing game has to be better. Texas is averaging sub 200 yards the last 3 games. I would love to see it, but I doubt Texas can just line up and run for 200+ vs Georgia. Would be nice time for Quinn to hit 270+ yard mark
  18. I thought bond broke it off at the sticks. That is my bad. I saw both LBs dropping. I assumed to the Hook/Curl, but yes he could just be on the RB. I assumed that would be a green dog situation and would fire with the RB blocking (though that might have happened in another second)
  19. You cant see what the Nickel is doing. He could be in zone. For all we know they have a split field coverage, so I would never say it is 100% this (especially with a pass thrown so quickly). Again asking a LB mugged up in the opposite A gap to cover a TE is one hell of a tough assignment. That is just unsound. He runs a quick out, Bond runs the CB off, and it is nice explosive play. I cant imagine Todd Orlando doing something that stupid, let alone Elko. He has multiple players in better position to man up the TE,
  20. That is just my guess. I can not see the other side of the field. You have a single high safety (that is obvious). Both LBs bluff and drop (obvious). You can see the other backer jogging around aimlessly at about 5-7 yards on his drop. I can not imagine a coach asking a LB to Bluff A gap blitz and cover the TE man. Any out-breaking route and he is just cooked, 0 chance he can cover that. So I assume he going to his drop and does a good job identifying the threat and busts his ass to get under the route (that is what you are supposed to do, dropping to a fixed spot should end after Pop Warner). The CB is giving ~7 yard cushion to the WR, which would make sense if he has deep 1/3 responsibilities. As far as Sark, that was on the TV screen and you can see on the Texas clips video of the game. No idea what Sark said, but coaches generally dont talk to you after a failed play to say they like your haircut. Best guess was he just said settle down and dont anticipate the the pressure, but it could have been the haircut thing.
  21. I am assuming he is racing zone. Sees Helm and runs underneath, exactly what you are supposed to do. Would be odd to have him man Helm from 5 yards inside (he is on the LOS in the A gap at the snap). Single High Safety. its 8., He breaks off right at the first down marker. None of it matters as the ball is thrown behind Helm
  22. Bond is the hot route, running the stop vs cover 3.
  23. Its Cover 3 and Gunnar will get hit. Quinn saw 7 defenders on the OL and assumed the jailbreak blitz (2 backed out and it was picked up). He threw it early and behind. Not catching if he turns he his head sooner anyway. He turns his head 4-5 yards within the LOS. There is timing on these plays. Bond is the hot route running to stop on the outside. Sark grabs Quinn and has a conversation right after the play
