  1. He didn’t throw one deep ball after his injury. He did throw his best pass after the injury though (Helm TD).
  2. Let’s just move past arguing over Quinn’s deep balls. They are what they are at this point. He is below average deep ball passer. Yesterday was no different. For Quinn to lead Texas to NC. He needs to continue to hit the intermediate ball and show some composure when things are not perfect
  3. In all fairness, that kid looked pretty good. He was facing a serious pass rush and he just kept throwing the ball. Not sure he had an NFL type arm, but hard to watch that game and not be intrigued by that kid. Very impressive first impression for a true freshmen
  4. Someone asked about shitty decisions. I gave one. Quinn was pretty good with reads. Intermediate ball was bette today. Worst one was the short completion on 3rd down. Texas ran the mesh and Ewers threw to the wrong guy. Easy first down if he made the right read there
  5. 7 pts.. fumble returned for TD is not on the defense
  6. It was backward, so it would have lost less yards
  7. Thrown it forward. Are you really going argue throwing the ball backwards is a good thing?
  8. The backwards pass off the dropped snap was an uber-shitty decision
  9. Officially ruled a fumble
  10. OL play in this game was the biggest surprise. They dominated from start to finish. If they play like that the rest of the season, there won’t be much of reason to debate QB play
  11. His best pass was after the injury (TD to Gunnar). He was definitely banged up, no idea how badly. I worry more about plays like the dropped snap and then a backwards throw to get rid of the ball. That was just a WTF moment
  12. It was a fumble. He had the ball knocked out of his hands by a rusher. He was trying to gather it and pushed it forward.
  13. I have now accepted it. It is crazy going from the Big 12 to the SEC. The SEC lets DBs plays and even calls phantom holds. Refs on the side of the defense. In the Big 12 it was the exact opposite
  14. Most pleasant surprise of the game is the OL. They are dominating in every phase
  15. That amazingly bad from Dart. Those last 2 drives looked like he was trying throw to Florida
  16. Yes. Practices will vary based on what the coaches want to work on. Generally, teams will have some individual time, group time (examples 7 on 7, inside run, etc), and team time. What doesn’t vary is the starters will get more reps in practice than back-ups on the Texas playbook
  17. Cool story. I played also and nobody gives a shit about that either. The 1st team would start 7 on 7 portion of practice and get the majority of snaps. If you are saying QB reps are split equally in practice, I am calling BS
  18. That is not how it works. Say he put a 100% effort into prep as the back-up. He still doesn’t get the reps or attention the 1st string will. That includes throwing to the 1st recievers. funny part is he was no worse in his play, than the 3 year starter. He made some mistakes (trying to out run an NFL WR and missed a read). Quinn did also (missed an uncovered WR and took at sack/fumble. Misread the defense and threw an in)
  19. just need Quinn to find that rhythm in the middle of the field. I havent seen many of those 18 yard comebacks that were money last year. Those killed teams that dropped their safeties deep last year.
  20. Dont follow. The stalk and go has been working BECAUSE TEAMS ARE CRASHING THE SCREEN. The whole point of the stalk and go is to take advantage of teams crashing on the screen. It obviously slows down defenses from over-playing the screen. Not sure why they would need to run double screens to do the same thing.
  21. yes, that was the point. Texas has been running these concepts for a while.
  22. I believe JWhits last TD at Texas was stalk and go. That was from last year, so I think you are missing some things.
  23. It wasnt double screen, but screen and go concepts have been huge for Texas this year. I would bet more than half of Ewer's TDs have been either a screen or screen and go. Sark does a great job scheming open 2-3 shot plays a game. That is not the offenses problem. It is executing on basic concepts that is hit or miss
  24. Texas runs a ton of that shit. You see the opening TD vs Ark or Florida? Stalk block and go is run almost every game. It would be harder to find a game where Stark does not run some form of fake screen and go.
  25. This is just being oblivious. Did you see Quinn's tape for most of the first half? There is a reason Quinn got benched. His 2 drives still outgained all of Quinn's 1st half drives. We have no idea if how he would have looked in the second half or if he prepped like Quinn did as the 1st QB.
