  1. The offense would likely be different. Sark has talked about how Tau and Mac Jones had different offenses. Tau was predominantly RPO and Mac was predominantly play action. I do agree Arch is not as good on the short timing routes as Quinn. Quinn is typically elite in that area. Quinn struggles when teams take away the flats from him. The issue for Quinn is the consistency. This was the year we all assumed Quinn would play at a consistent level. Michigan sucked us in. He is still the same the QB. He struggles with deep balls, he is slow through his progressions, poor footwork, and bad pocket feel. I fell in love with the promise of Quinn's talent, but now the tape is starting to win me over. This just seems to be who Quinn is. Arch may be similar. We do not know for sure how he would progress in a game or over the several games. I would assume he improves. Texas fans are always hard on QBs. Freshmen Colt and Vince got a lot of heat from fans. I remember defending freshman Sam and Quinn. All of them improved, but only Quinn has needed to be defended as a 3rd year starter.
  2. The frustrating part is Texas has a championship caliber defense this year. NFL WRs, TE, and OL. I am not sure Texas will have the same quality parts next year.
  3. I just dont understand this logic. Do we say that about other positions? Texas isnt the same program, so the standards have changed. I think that is a good thing. The crazy thing about Texas fans is a see a lot of people say the support Quinn and should be the QB the rest of the year, but he better get out after this year. It is some pretty twisted logic. Imagine saying that about Bijan, Brooks, Banks, etc
  4. If it is a 1 read route, then being late and floating it is worse.
  5. Ball to Wingo was floated and late, but Moore is wide ass open
  6. I always love the deep ball discussions here. What about the throw 1.5 years ago? Ewers has played a lot of football the tape does not lie. He struggles throwing the deep ball. Yes, he will have a game he does it well every once and a while, but that is it. His deep ball is not something the team can rely on. That is the reason why people can remember a deep ball from 1.5 years ago, because they are so infrequent.
  7. Before the Vandy game I said the 1st half maybe the most important half of Quinn’s career. I wouldn’t say that about Kentucky, but another ugly 1st half and it will get interesting. That probably means he comes out and looks great in the 1st half vs Kentucky. Just because that is the roller coaster that Quinn is right now
  8. I love this defense. I don’t think it is like that NC Georgia defense, that had high round picks every where. They are one of the best coordinated defenses I have seen. They get turnovers and don’t give up explosives. I just think over the course of what would be 15-16 games, the odds are likely you run into a QB that just plays out of his mind or an OC creates a great game plan. Even The Bama and Georgia NC defenses needed to be bailed out by their offense in the playoffs
  9. Just modern football. It’s extremely hard to go a season where someone doesn’t get you. Texas has only played 1 top 20 offense this year by FEI (18 Georgia). To win a title there will be a game the offense needs to score 27 or more. I hope I am wrong about that, because it would be great to watch the defense hold everyone below 17 pts.
  10. I love Surly. We have someone arguing Texas loses to Florida if Arch starts and people arguing Texas will win a NC with a QB throwing for 200 yards a game
  11. I don’t see that game being close with Arch starting. Again no pressure and receivers running wide open all game.
  12. Texas rolls.. Florida offense was just out-matched. I said Ewers played great in that game, but the environment couldn’t have been easier. That isn’t a game where Arch would have been rattled. Almost no pressure and WRs running wide open everywhere
  13. There is no chance Texas makes noise in the playoffs, if Quinn throws for 200 yards a game. Debatable that Texas makes the playoffs, if Quinn throws for 200 vs A&M
  14. Ark is out the window. Quinn was not good vs Ark. Quinn had multiple interceptions vs Vandy and Texas survived
  15. Texas record would be 9-1 with Arch or Quinn starting, I don’t think anyone would argue that. So the record thing doesn’t really move the needle. Here are the SEC Quarterback Grades through week 11 for all 16 current starters in the SEC (prior to Ark game). 1. Jaxson Dart , Ole Miss Grade: 91.9 Nat’l Rank: 4 2. Taylen Green, Arkansas Grade: 86.9 Nat’l Rank: 25 3. Jalen Milroe, Alabama Grade: 85.3 Nat’l Rank: 31 4. Diego Pavia , Vanderbilt Grade: 85.0 Nat’l Rank: 32 5. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU Grade: 81.1 Nat’l Rank: 61 6. Carson Beck, UGA Grade: 78.0 Nat’l Rank: 86 7. Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee Grade: 77.1 Nat’l Rank: 95 8. Payton Thorne, Auburn Grade: 75.8 Nat’l Rank: 111 9. Brock Vandagriff, Kentucky Grade: 68.9 Nat’l Rank: 195 10. Marcel Reed, Texas A&M Grade: 66.3 Nat’l Rank: 202 11. Quinn Ewers, Texas Grade: 66.9 Nat’l Rank: 210 12. Michael van Buren, Mississippi State Grade: 62.5 Nat’l Rank: 254 13. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina Grade: 62.3 Nat’l Rank: 257 14. Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma Grade: 59.7 Nat’l Rank: 273 15. Drew Pyne, Missouri Grade: 56.4 Nat’l Rank: 287 https://www.louisianasports.net/week-11-sec-qb-pff-grades-dart-leads-milroe-rises/ This is a debate based on Quinn’s play. If it was any other position, it is unlikely to be much of a debate
  16. I don’t think anyone had their pitchforks out for 3rd year Colt or Vince. This is not remotely the same situation
  17. At some pt Quinn is his tape. Right now the Michigan game is looking like the exception. Right now I don’t trust Quinn vs a top level defense. Not sure I trust Arch either, but he is playmaker. He can make a bad play into a good one, mostly with his feet. He may be a mad bomber, but that helps the run game. His legs also have to be accounted for by a defense
  18. I am leaning the other way. I think I said that Texas is more likely to make the playoffs with Quinn, but more likely to make noise in the playoffs with Arch about a month ago. Unfortunately, Quinn has shown nothing but inconsistency during the past month. Those highs and lows typically come with a 1st year starter (though Beck and Ewers are both there this year). I think the best version of Arch gives the offense a higher ceiling. I am not as concerned anymore about the lows, because Quinn is having those types of games. I am 1 more bad half away from calling for Quinn to be benched. I think it’s a coin flip we see Arch get meaningful snaps this year
  19. I don’t think anyone would disagree. That said Quinn had limitations and is inconsistent. That is why this point isn’t really hitting home. People are going to continue to pine for Arch, until Quinn can play the consistent football expected out of a 3rd year starter. I don’t think anyone can definitively say that the offense has a higher ceiling under Quinn.
  20. The were consist though and that is what matters. They let both teams play physical in pass coverage
  21. If I am an opposing DC, I love that Tampa 2 look vs Texas. Shut down the flats and dare Texas to win the ball running the football or Quinn to find the holes
  22. Draft and college performance are not always aligned. Quinn has the 1st round arm that GM may fall in love with, but his tape isn’t top 3 rounds
  23. Can’t see UK scoring 10+ pts. UK does have a defense that could slow down Texas, but hard to know how much fight they have left in them. I can’t see Texas losing. Only question is will the offense sleep walk to a 24- 6 type win or blow them out? Another game where the 1Q could decide the ease of the win. Get up early and it will look like Florida.
  24. Agree. The thought of pressure triggers the same response. He tends to throw off platform for no reason
  25. It’s all related to his footwork. He sees pressure and his feet stop working. He has slow feet and it really shows up with pressure. There are other issues. The most worrying part of the Arkansas poor performance was there wasn’t much pressure
