  1. I tend to agree. But if someone does another violent crime after a long stretch I’m pretty okay with locking them up and tossing the key. I’d also reserve prisons for violent crimes in most cases. I’d rather give those accused of property crimes an option of working and paying reasonable restitution
  2. I don’t think a 16 year old getting 30 years on a plea deal is easy. Not saying it’s draconian. But assuming first offense it’s a pretty reasonable plea deal for a 16 year old getting murder 1. Sentencing range is 5 to 99 for first degree murder in Texas. They took a deal to get lower range. And Texas isn’t exactly parol friendly. Bet they do 75 percent of the sentence.
  3. Even taking his version of events, he is pretty much guilty of murder. Nothing suggests using lethal force was justified.
  4. Not sure how good a filet knife would be at stabbing someone in the chest. I was just curious if he was carrying a pocket knife or the Jackhawk 9000.
  5. Have not seen any reports one what type of knife he was carrying. Was it a pocket knife with a 3" blade that a lot of Texans carry routinely? Or a fixed blade 6" knife that you would only carry to stab someone?
  6. They pled out. If he pleads guilty, he is probably looking at a similar sentence.
  7. Arch will be the best QB in the SEC this year. Sellers is his best competition.
  8. I love comeback/redemption stories. Would love to see him succeed at another program. He's young and did dumb stuff. I'd like to see him do less dumb stuff and become a productive member of society.
  9. I assume Liucci has gotten wealthy or at least earns a good living off of telling Aggies what they want to hear. Got to give him props for that.
  10. When ammo is plentiful and not marked up, I just buy a few boxes of 9 mm, .223, and bird shot for my 12s and 20s every time I go to Academy. Pretty much have enough for my kids to never worry about ammo.
  11. I thought Lochlan would live once he puked.
  12. I buy $75 Frog Togg waders off Amazon. They last years. Then I buy new ones.
  13. Can't imagine being the parent of the victim. Can't imagine being a fan of the kid who killed him either. Just awful.
  14. Similarly, if I shoot you in the leg with the intent to just hurt you but not kill you, and hit an artery so you bleed out, I am buying the farm on murder.
  15. Intending to cause substantial risk of death is not needed. If you intend to cause serious bodily injury and death results, you buy the farm on murder. Good luck trying to argue a stabbing to someone's chest was not intended to cause serious bodily injury. Serious bodily injury includes but is broader than "substantial risk of death".
  16. And 94 was a 4 way tie. Last outright conference title was 1956. The border conference. Hardin Simmons was a member of the border conference.
  17. I don’t. HEB when it’s open. You can eat healthy shopping at wal mart. But wherever you shop, it’s cheaper to buy real food and eat healthy than it is to by processed crap. Water is cheaper than sugar drinks. Rice and beans are cheap. Chicken is cheap. Frozen veggies are cheap. A spaghetti squash is cheap. Whatever fruits and veggies are in season are cheap. You don’t have to buy organic out of season produce or grass fed filets to eat healthy.
  18. I’m guessing a lot of Samford guys transfer to Ags
  19. Looks like he can shoot and rebound a bit
  20. I guess it can be. I mostly use mine, which is a folding Benchmade with like a three inch blade, to cut up apples or pears.
  21. I got serious about fitness as I am on the backside of my 40s and want my 50s and 60s to be as active as possible and still do the stuff I love (certain types of hunting, wade fishing, hiking, snow skiing, etc.). So I quit drinking a few years ago. And now I meal prep lunches exclusively. Eating healthier has never been cheaper. People who claim eating healthy is expensive are full of shit. I make a protein shake for breakfast and pre-workout in blender. Meal prepped lunch (usually wild game and veggies). Protein shake for snack. Normal dinner. Quitting drinking saves a ton. Now instead of getting pre-dinner cocktails and then splitting a bottle of wine and often two, my wife will just order her a glass. We often just split a salad or app and entree also. Restaurant portions are huge. Also no need to uber any more since I am all time DD. Nights out are much, much cheaper. Meal prepping lunches instead of eating out or just grabbing a sandwich, drinks and chips saves a minimum of $50 a week.
  22. Some of the biggest proponents of enhanced laws for crack cocaine were black ministers, civic leaders, and politicians. Because crack went off like a bomb in their communities and caused havoc.
