  1. That's really scary. Good luck to you. I quit drinking more than two years ago. All aspects of life are better without booze. There are probably people on here who can help you a lot more than me. I read Allen Carr's quitting drinking the Easy Way. It worked for me.
  2. I know zero about Arkansas' academics. But that part of the state, Northwest Arkansas, is beautiful. A buddy of mine lives there because his company is a major Wal Mart vendor and that's his account. I love to visit. I am mid 40s. So the Arkansas rivalry never meant much to me.
  3. I like Carmel and Big Sur more than Napa if you're going to hit some countryside for a day or two outside SF. Really enjoyed lunch at Ventanas, which is right across PCH from Post Ranch Inn. Spectacular views from a cliff above the Pacific. And very reasonably priced. Liked Clint's place for dinner or Happy Hour, Mission Ranch in Carmel. And Le Biceclette for dinner in Carmel. That entire area south of SF Bay is pretty awesome.
  4. Owens runs like he’s a pussy and afraid of contact.
  5. The issues facing HISD, the subject of this thread, are due to charter school political donations?
  6. HISD has been poorly run for my entire life. Is there any data on whether results have changed under Miles, be it positive or negative?
  7. I am just glad public school teacher organizations and unions stay out of politics and do not make political contributions to the very politicians they sit at the bargaining table with
  8. The counter-argument is if you have a girl who is athletic and likes golf. Wide open for scholarships. A lot of golfers are members of clubs. It does not cost much extra for the kids to play. And I would rather mine be at the club playing golf than doing a lot of other stuff.
  9. Golf is one sport if you play a lot you can get good. I used to shoot in the mid 70s routinely in college because I played a 2-3 times per week. Now I am happy playing bogey golf because I am lucky to play a couple times per month. Too many shots go out of bounds now and short game is rusty. When I retire, I plan on playing a lot.
  10. Liucci will meet him in the Texags parking lot if he wants to get Lippy and claim he doesn’t allow dissenting opinions.
  11. Perp is now in jail. He is charged with first degree murder. Hopefully no bond this time given that he murdered Jeff Limmer while on bond for aggravated assault.
  12. It was just public school in-state tuition, where Texas is 34th and below the national average.
  13. You must just be reviewing Harris County records, or reading articles that only cite his Harris County criminal history, if that's all you come up with (and that misses a crack cocaine conviction from early 90s). This shitbird has lived all over. So Harris County records that you reviewed only show a small piece of this guy's criminal history. I ran his name and DOB through a legal research database. He has shit all over. He has lived in different counties in Texas and has multiple assault convictions. A riot conviction, whatever that is. And shit in federal court. He was in prison for 5 years on federal charges. So of course he has some gaps in time. He also lived in Louisiana for much of the 2000s, which explains him not having much in Harris County until recently. No telling what he did there. I have not checked their records.
  14. UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 8147 Katy Freeway – City of Houston | Newsroom Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 8147 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 6 p.m. on May 4. The suspect, Anthony Martin Landry, 57, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. A prior booking photo of Landry, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release. The victim is identified as Jeffrey Limmer, 46 HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Martinez and S. Chettrey reported: HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a restaurant at the above address and found an unknown male unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Limmer, deceased. The suspect fled the scene in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup truck. A preliminary investigation indicated Limmer was shot by the suspect after a verbal disagreement. Further investigation identified Landry as the suspect in this case and, on Wednesday (May 8), was charged with murder. Landry remains at-large. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Anthony Martin Landry or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
  15. You suggested Texas politics was to blame for high tuition. The data shows that in state public school tuition in Texas is currently cheaper than average and 34th out of 51. That seems to cut against your point that tuition in Texas is high due to Texas politics. It is not high, relative to other states. And the most expensive states seem to be ones that have radically different politics than Texas -- basically the other end of the spectrum.
  16. Texas is 34th in in state public school tuition/fees cost out of 51 states/D.C.. https://educationdata.org/average-cost-of-college-by-state
  17. I blame the perp, first and foremost. Such a waste and so senseless.

According to campaign finance records from the Texas Secretary of State's Office, in October 2016, George Soros donated $740,000 to the political action committee Texas Safety & Justice. The PAC used $550,000 of that to fund Kim Ogg's first run for DA.
  19. 57 year old black male. Convicted felon. Indicted for aggravated assault the day before he murdered Jeff. Out on bond. Perp has lived all over the country. I just ran his Harris County records. Plenty of hits. Disgusting. I'll post his name once he is arrested.
