I took out a addendum on my homeowners policy.  Problem is I can’t replace the watches based on what I insured them for and what the crazy prices are now for the same watches.

I have a rider on my homeowners for Rolex and golf clubs

That little show looks like my mid70’s high school parking lot. It would go across Mecum for a couple mill today. Us poors had either muscle cars or old VWs and parental handmedowns. Rich kids had conversion vans, Porsches, or Vettes. Spoiled girls had Vegas, Chevettes, Pintos.Remember it was highly inflationary times fueled by crazy oil embargo gas prices.

Quite the collection of Oldsmobiles. My parents had a 68 442 with the Rocket 400 and I had a 70 with a Rocket 455 in high school. I wasn’t a fan of the Rallye yella treatment but next to it is a 67 Toronado, perhaps the most beautiful American car design ever. I love that 68 442 convertible (my favorite 442 fascia) and the 71.

Of the Tri5’s I love the 56. My old man had a 57 150 with factory muted tiger interior. I’d go with the 58 which I think is the best from Chevy.

Love that 72 Riviera boat tail. Those were just badass and so beautiful.

I don't remember any spoiled girls with Vegas because we had several. Dad would buy them cheap and sleeve the engine and then you had a pretty reliable teenager car. I may have set a record - mine was sold at 130K wihtout sleeving it and it only let me down once - water pump failed on the way home from Auburn. Luckily it was a very easy car to work on. Put a new pump on while in a parking lot and drove home.

We got lucky and found some vintage Russell Woodard Sculptura for $250.00. It was in great shape, but it’s a keeper so we had it freshly powder coated. Good for another 55 years. 9d7e9ace1e0049982dc34490f4b88126.jpg
Buy some cheap cushions every year or so.

I have similar higher end iron that I got in 2000 from an outdoor store on Airport. Replacing the cushions evry two years is perfect. After 20+ I need to powdercoat them for the next 20 years

I’m in N. Tex and St Augustine is the only thing that will grow in the shade. However, we have a gigantic Elm and two dogs and finally gave up on the back yard. Had artificial turf installed last Jan. So far we and the dogs love it.

Palisades zoysia is shade tolerant and drought tolerant

I’m playing The Quarry at La Quinta in a month with guys that are better than me.  It will be an adventure.

For a minute I thought you meant The Quarry in San Antonio. Played that a few years ago for a business meeting in August. Their are 4-5 holes that are way below ground level so it was about 120 degrees and no wind. Only time I ever remember in a scramble when we took the first decent shot. No sense hanging around for everyone to hit. I called those holes The Frying Pan

It's a runner with no rust.  Plan is new wire harness, rebuild the heads for some performance, suspension upgrade, and a repaint in British Green with tan interior.

Wife loves it, says it will be her "Mrs Robinson car."  I was happy to hear it, because ... wait, what? does she intend to start fucking college drop outs?

Welcome to the world of british cars...

Don't let your ego convince you that you're a better skier than you are and you aren't going to break shit like that. I can count on one hand the number of times i have fallen in the past 10 years on one hand.

My right arm says hold my beer. Freak accident in the first hour of black diamond week at Taos. Nothing to do with getting ego ahead of skill. Hit a small rut at 5 mph, fell on right side and snapped the upper right arm clean across and split the stub into the shoulder. Didn't even knock the skiies off. Sometimes it happens. It happened on an icy slope and guessing there was a large rock under the ice

Always heard good things about Haggerty. Just fwiw, my State Farm policy also works the way MM just described.

My state farm didn't work like that but probably an exception. They would not accept stated value until the restoration was finished. Left me in limbo since I had already paid for over half the work. If the shop burned down I would have been out that amount. Haggerty had no issues

i was diagnosed with partial tear on meniscus in my knee.  I got a cortisone shot right into the knee and that supposedly reduced the inflammation enough that it could heal.  Something about reducing inflammation and swelling to allow blood flow back to the meniscus.

It seemed to do the trick and was able to play basketball and snowboard again.  was only ~2-3 months of taking it easy and maybe 1 month of PT regimen.  my memory sucks, but it was a lot of balancing on the 1/2 squishy ball and crab walking around with resistance bands.  This was ~8 years ago I think.  I remember the USMNT in a world cup on TV during PT.

it's all about the pain and if the flap of torn meniscus is poking around where it shouldn't be.  If the tear is doing that then my ortho said it might need surgery to clean it up and trim the tear back..

You hit the subject on the head. The problem iwth the meniscus is lack of blood flow to a lot of it. That's why they snip out the tear. If the area has blood they sew it back

F me.  Heel hooks suck.  Possible partial meniscus tear in the knee.  Anyone rehabbed from this and gotten back safely on the slopes?  Timeline?

Started skiing a few years after the first knee surgery which had both sides opened up. No issues. Tore meniscus in same knee in 2010. It totally depends on what type of tear (bucket handle etc). Bucket handle has quick recivery because they cut out the tear. Other types get the tear sewn back. Less long term issues but longer rehab. I have had no issues in 12 years. Haven't skiied on it but I would have no fear trying.

One more note on CB, if there's one thing I learned off of the T-bars is to take your time to scope out your lines carefully.  You can find straightforward lines or you can find yourself taking mandatory cliff drops... even on the easier spots like Hard Slab, Hawk's Nest, Headwall, etc.  Its the kind of areas that can get you in trouble fast.  The good news is that in some areas like the North Face, there are gates to keep you from advancing further to skier's left where stuff gets hairier over time.  I also found the Epic Mix app worked well at some points and not so well at other points due to signal issues.  I popped out Tower 11 Chutes on one run just because I wasn't sure where I was going but found a good line that dropped me under the lift.  Just know your limits.

Again, still pissed I didn't do funnel.  From what I understand other than the entrance, not much different than Upper Peel/Peel but better snow and amazing views.

Yeah - If I have to jump off a cliff in mid run I would really appreciate a lot of warnings ahead of time

My bumpers and overiders were about 600 each which is OK. Just got another quote and everyone wants 150 each for dog dish half moon hubcaps. My top amount is 100 and that is almost 3x aftermarket. I am not doing a show car so I guess aftermarket is it

Last quote was 175 each. No clue why overiders were 75 each and hubcaps 2x that. Gonna go with aftermarket here. We are not talking fancy - 9 inch and round
