The monday afternoon show with Gerry and CJ. Gerry seems to organically go into on OFT OG sell ,then 5 seconds later gets prompted to do an actual ad read. Smh.

Not that i really care. But i still felt like overkill

How else do you suggest they make money? Do you work for free?

I was talking to a friend about this earlier. If a player enrolls at Texas with an injury or gets injured in his first camp, he’s probably going to get recruited over. Guillette is an exception and probably the baseline talent level that the coaches will wait for.

I’ve been very pleased with the healthy roster churn.

Too early to make a blanket statement like that, Colton Vasek is also doing well to make his way back.

Injuries don't help, but guys who aren't on top of their shit from the jump are generally gonna get recruited over. Sink or swim.

Agreed. I listen to the podcast audio as well. It's brutal. There will be 1-2 minutes of ads inserted into the program, and then Bobby or whoever will do another 30-60 second read. It's becoming unlistenable.

To be clear, I am a huge fan of what Bobby, Gerry, et. al. bring to the table. But they are producing too much material (it is therefore repetitive), and their podcasts come off very much like a website choked with pop-up ads. I hope this is seen as the constructive feedback it is intended to be.

Content is king. If anything, they need to put more out there.

The way they package it could be better, but they are doing a great job so far, and their viewership is steadily growing as a result.

Whenever I watch, it feels like a good vibe and I'm sure they'll continue to build while maintaining that.

Has TFB even been really plugged into Texas recently? I knew they had pretty good sources back when Herman was here but, I haven’t seen them referenced lately with Texas under Sark and especially since CJ has join Bobby at OTF.

Darius Terrell ( D.T.) is a former UT WR malcontent, but he's from Desoto and current on staff at Waxahachie IIRC.

It isn't out of the question for him to have info on Bear Alexander.

He may be full of shit though.

  5. I imagine Peyton Kirkland is heading home to continue recovering and to have a chance at future PT. He has next to no path to the field here.

I like Niblett, but it makes sense for him to leave.

Red, same as Niblett. Like him a lot though

Tapp and Swanson wouldn't shock me too much

Juan Davis makes sense, but who knows if he wants to go before he graduates

Sydir Mitchell hurts, but only based on what we think he could be.

    Austin Jordan

S'maje Burrell if he wants playing time sooner rather than later. Another big time LB class this cycle could also have the writing on the wall.

  6. Baxter is going to be much improved next year.

I also expect Blue to take a huge jump because he is talented, but he also has a massive carrot going into this year and has been going about his business as such.

Both guys will be needed heavily this year. If the OL can run block more consistently this year, both guys and maybe a third will eat.

You are a harsh critic, man. There are 3-4 NFL guys at a minimum in that group. Burke will get drafted if he stays healthy and continues his development. Several of Tapp, Vasek, Sorrell and Akana are candidates. Whichever one(s) of them develop and get plenty of tape will at least get a cup of coffee, if not much more. They're all really young still besides Sorrell and Moore. If Moore puts up big numbers at Texas, he's a late round pick or UFA that will at least make a practice squad.

I could see both white boys getting their shit together and winding up being valued at the next level. They have the frames and feet for it.

What do you think the chances are that we have Moore for 2 years?

  8. Nothing wrong with being at a bar at his age. Likely hanging out watching an NFL playoff game.

The fact that he got hit at all, much less sucker punched, and his entire crew did nothing about it is the biggest issue here.

    Crazy times we live in.

  9. How in the world does a high D1 athlete with short arms only put up 8 reps of 225 lb at his size?

The vertical and broad jump are also underwhelming. He's losing some money today.

I know we have discussed this stuff before, but some/a lot of the posters on the guru boards are special forms of stupid. I know Surly has its share of complete imbeciles, but wow. I haven't read 247, IT, or OB in forever and a day, so you forget about this stuff. On OTF now and some of it is unbelievable.

There's the one type of poster who views any opinion other than that coming from a $9.95er as completely ignorable while at the same time hanging on a $9.95er's every word. You can forget about this, but when seeing it unfold in real time, it's a stark reminder of the outsized kind of weight the paid guys carry. That's hard to do with someone weighing close to a metric ton, such as Ketchum, but it's real. There are thousands of readers who think that Ketchum/Boyd/Nahlin/Richardson/FCB/Bohls/Golden are providing them with real insights about the program or recruiting.

Then you have the guys who truly are remarkable in that they appear to be adult humans surviving in society without any basic notion of reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Whatever is overtly written or said by guys like Bobby or Gerry is only what can be concluded. Nothing else hinted at or vaguely touched on matters, no reading between the lines, just black and white simpleton silliness.

Another type is the guy who thinks everyone needs to see and hear his every thought, usually in the form of a new thread. Tell them otherwise, and you're offending them and they'll start asking the moderators to intervene. These are the worst kind of posters.

Finally, there's the old guy who is new to the Internet and has no fucking clue how anything works. They're using their real names, they divulge a bunch of personal information, they think things like "I played sports in junior high, I know what I am talking about" and believe that with a straight face. These men wear their old iphones in a case on their hip. They have a keychain hanging from a belt loop with more than 10 keys on it for everyone to see. On weekends, they wear jorts with long white socks pulled up to their knees and their collared shirt is tucked into the jorts. These people are experts on the board who likely know more than even the gurus. They're constantly intervening to correct opinions and they're totally unironic in their intent to shape the board discussions to suit their outlook.

The sad reality is, these kinds of boards of communities need all of those types of people to feel relatively welcome for them to grow.

The more these guys are called out for their mindless and possibly harmful posts, the less engaged they'll be and the less inviting the community will be for new others to potentially join.

There's value in the Latiolais style of posting if there is a way to keep it from masking the more interesting shit.

I was a little off, 71% drafted and 45% went in the 1st round. Link below with the full article.

    https://www.si.com/college/alabama/player-development/nick-saban-turned-alabama-five-star-u

The numbers in that article are suspect.

Also, it says Bama had a 45.2% hit rate, but the number is 10/42, which is actually 23.8%

If you look at some of the numbers for other schools, it uses the same (5-star first rounders/5 star recruits) and has more accurate numbers listed.

Shit, even Florida and Clemson have higher numbers there.

  12. 17 minutes ago, bEastTexas said:

Saban did a good job of churning his roster but his development was also outrageous. People have ran the numbers and his hit rate on 5* was around 50% while the rest of CFB’s was 20-25%.

This is suspect, how did they define the hit rate? Bama has had a lot of guys not pan out, but they bring in so many decently vetted 5 stars that they hit on enough to look good.
