  1. The SEC has traditionally had less than great offenses outside of a few standouts every year.

It also tends to be more athlete driven than scheme driven.

DeBoer, Kiffin, and Heupel are the ones I'd be looking at as plus scheme guys.

Kirby Moore, OC at Mizz is good. We'll see about Litrell at OU. We'll see about LSU's offense post Jayden Daniels.

Georgia has overwhelming talent against most, but can be had when they don't overwhelm you.

Unless we're really up against it up the middle of our defense this year, we'll be fine.

Interior DL who only weighs 263

Not twitchy enough to move outside to edge

The same knocks keeping him off the field here would be a thing anywhere

Is this a bit? Do you actually watch the games?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Kris Ross was moved to Edge before getting kicked off the team. He was certainly one of the twitchier if not the twitchiest guy we had at that position last year. Long arms to boot.

He probably didn't have the best references leaving here, but you'd think someone would have taken a flyer on him if he was actively pursuing other options.

This sucks but not unexpected. Helped with game management along with another set of eyes for Jeff Banks.

Opens up another spot on the staff to fill. He was one of the 3 spec asst. to the HC guys on the team. He's going to USCe to be an actual on-field coach as special teams coordinator.

Much like Akina, can't blame them for taking the other offer.

  4. Do we always hire the more experienced candidate when filling positions?

I'm not excited by the hire, but I also lack the information to really assess it.

When experience is lacking, we rely on reputable references and context to fill in the gaps.

HOT TAKE: I think this guy is gonna make his name here, learn from PK and Nansen, and be a DC candidate in 5 years or so.

For me, I would probably be looking for a guy who can point to players they coached and developed into the NFL as opposed to a guy who coached them after they had already been developed enough to make the league.
I see a lot of recruits talk about wanting development towards the NFL.
Not saying Wright won’t be successful but there was no question that Davis was very good with development and had the resume to back it up.
Now, who that would be, I have no idea.  As such, Wright I guess is as good as anyone.

He developed himself into a five star HS DT prospect, big time contributor at Texas, and eventual draft pick and NFL player. Now, he's developed himself into a pretty good coach worthy of being considered as the DL coach at his alma mater.

He's also young enough to relate to most of these guys while still commanding respect.

He doesn't have a ton of skins on the wall as a coach, but I'm sure he can sell what he's accomplished so far in his life.

  6. Chatman, Akana, and Walton aren't going anywhere. Burrell probably sticks around unless he doesn't see a path.

I could see Holmes leaving if he gets in a dogfight in the spring. If we get J. Muhammad, M. Muhammad and T. Brooks would split time in the boundary, and M. Muhammad could easily spell J. Muhammad when needed. That leaves Holmes, Roberson, Black, and Mack fighting for snaps in the spring.

I could see Red leaving as well. Competitive spring upcoming. Hopefully everyone stays healthy.

Who is going to win the Big Ten next year?

They gotta beat Oregon and Penn state on the road with Will Howard at QB. That defense is gonna need to carry them. Or hope for BoB creativity to get the offense right.
I also think Dillon Gabriel is the best QB in that conference right now.
