The OL really struggled to protect as well as we needed to run the plays we wanted to run.
I'm not sure why we didn't run more short passes to Worthy since they were playing like 7-10 yards off of him for much of the game.
We also didn't have the ball much.
Tough game.

and that is partially his, Sarks, and the 2 clown shows fault. it's year 3.
You don't just become Georgia/Alabama in year 3 of a program. We barely lost in the CFP with a relatively inexperienced team.

He was on fire because we played passively. When we attacked this year and tonight, good things happened. Penix was going to beat us on great throws. He made a few of them. We didn’t really make him have to much because of the plan we rolled with until the 4th q.
???
We tried to play the tight coverage we featured against Tech and OkSt and got torched multiple times.
Penis was picking on basically everyone. They started playing off more to limit the damage, but we were at a solid disadvantage in the secondary.
Brooks made his name by playing super physically with Evan Stewart in some camp reps, then became a 5-star from his increased profile and recruitment. Also has very long arms and big hands and positional versatility. Always been a 4.6 range guy though. It's hard to lack athleticism and have poor recognition too. He's easily had the most coverage busts this year.
Tough when you have no one to really push him at that position.

That flare to the back shouldn't have even been an option and certainly not after a toss fake that wastes 2 seconds for no reason. Ewers has his share of the blame for sure but that call was dumb.
If it isn't covered, Blue walks into the endzone. If he gets the corner, he still gets very close. That was one of many great plays by Ulofoshio.

Brooks is slow, Watts is slower. Muhammad has great COD, long arms, and good technique, but he's light and young.
The safeties are no bueno. The linebackers aren't great in coverage. We are a limited bunch, and we didn't get any pass rush.
They were working with an NFL QB, multiple NFL O-linemen, and at least 2 NFL WRs.
Our only hope was for Penix to miss throws. He was on fire from the first snap. This was the result.

The defensive secondary is the correct answer here.

Not that it needs to be said again, but Cowherd is an idiot. Washington is a heavily penalized team.

We almost overcame a 3-0 turnover deficit. Usually teams have no business winning those games.
It was more like a 4 turnovers (running into the kicker extended a drive) and multiple drives in the redzone that ended with FGs or no points.
To still be ahead with 90 seconds or so in that game was nothing short of a miracle.
If we have truly overcome out redzone issues, that only gives us more room for error in this game

And here I thought I was weird for watching big games solo. Shit, even the “easier” games I chose to attend were less than pleasant for the people who joined me.
I’ll be sipping/chugging manhattans all night

Yeah, these guys also picked Oregon over UW both times and GA over Bama plus a few other stinkers.
Some of the better analysis out there though.
All three of those games were 3 point upset wins. On paper and matchup-wise, it makes sense to favor Georgia and Oregon.
Whether it's Oregon's shitty decisions in the first game, or taking too long to get going in the second game. Whatever the case, UW got it done.
Georgia didn't play great against Bama, but Bama played really well situationally to hold on and win that game.

FWIW - may only be tree fiddy - but he does hit all the right notes re: Texas.

Earlier this month, Saraland (Ala.) wideout and long time Alabama commit Ryan Williams decided to reclassify from the ’25 class in to the class of ’24. He told us during check-in for the Under Armour Next All-America Game on Friday that he plans to sign in early February after taking a few official visits.
Williams is a tremendous talent who checks in as the No. 3 wideout and No. 10 player overall in the Top247. He was a top-five overall prospect in the ’25 class and remains a consensus five-star prospect after the reclassification.
Williams committed to Alabama back in October 2022 and his pledge to the Tide still sounds very strong. He’s set to take an official visit to Bama on Jan. 20.
“It will take a lot to get me away from Bama,” Williams said. “I really love the Tide and my family has come around as well. My dad played at Auburn, so our whole family was Auburn fans but now that I’ve been committed for almost two years, they have all come around.
“Bama is NFL U (University) and do a great job developing at all positions but especially receiver. Coach (Holmon) Wiggins is a great WR coach and Nick Saban is obviously a great coach as well. You go to Bama, you know you’re going to win a lot of games, get developed and get to the League (NFL) and that’s the goal for all of us.”
As mentioned, Williams grew up an Auburn fan and the Tigers will get his final official visit on Feb. 3.“I was on a visit to Auburn and they said they wanted to get my last official visit before I sign so that’s why I’m going there on the third,” Williams said. “I’ve always loved Auburn, but they were going through some struggles and a coaching change at the time I committed to Bama.
“As soon as Hugh Freeze was hired, he hit reached out right away along with coach (Marcus) Davis and they have been recruiting me hard ever since. I’ve been up there at least a dozen times and I’m really comfortable and know the school really well so that’s why I’m taking that visit.”
Texas will get their shot at Williams on Jan. 27.
“Texas is losing a few receivers and there’s a lot of opportunity there,” Williams said. “That’s a big market there and I think I can really thrive in a city like Austin.
“I like their QB room a lot as well and that’s very important and Sark (Steve Sarkisian) is a great play caller. He was the guy calling the plays at Bama when Smitty (DeVonta Smith) won the Heisman and he has a great track record for getting receivers to the League. Texas is a hot team and I think they have a great thing going right now.”
Williams will make his decision and sign on Feb. 9.
“That’s my birthday and also when my dad signed with Auburn 16 years ago,” Williams said. “I’m excited to take these visits and then evaluate everyone.

“A big thing for me is finding a program where I can win, I like winning and also a place where I’m comfortable and can get developed. I think all three of these schools provide that opportunity so I’m looking forward to this.”
Notice how he doesn't mention KJ Lacey being committed to Texas as part of the draw of going there.
Alabama or Auburn, and I think they could both flip to Auburn on the same day.

Honestly, nothing against the kid, but I think he's a tad overrated. A good baseball player, but when Choice didn't even entertain him or Peoples, I knew something wasn't right when Choice immediately went OOS for his RB's. Maybe I'm wrong, but something about him after watching some of his highlights he just looked OK, not elite.
Our guys are good, but those guys are both good too. I think Gibson was the initial primary, but Clark was probably just as if not more desired.
I also believe the EE thing was an issue due to baseball.- 1

Penix doesn’t seem like the brightest guy, but he can sling it. You would think a 10th year CFB QB would know how to respond to those types of questions by now.

We don’t want Nansen, we need to keep Sark as clean as possible from whatever demons he had in the past.
Good coach, but not worth the risk at this point.

They passed on Dillon Gabriel for this shit? What even makes him special as a QB?

How the hell did Armstrong throw for 4000 yards in a season at UVa?
He's horrible

How does a 270 lb center have that high of a pass grade?
Don't gotta be big to be effective. He's athletic, plays with good leverage, and consistently uses good technique out there. You almost never see him off balance out there. He's also flanked and assisted by two giant guards.

Two Washington guys on that list. The LT probably isn't far behind either.

I was just about to post that. USC definitely has more weapons on offense than we do and they have an excellent scheme as well. We have a better OL though.
If they had anything close to our defense, they would have beat Washington.

Do you mean scramble around behind the line of scrimmage ... to escape a pass rush?
As for getting positive yardage, his totals for this season:
- 29 carries, for (-18) yards.
- out of 13 games, he only had three with positive rushing yardage (5, 11, 22 yards).
- they only gave up 11 sacks, so there is that.
The stats don't tell the whole story, especially not with the way they do CFB stats with sack yardage. Check out the Oregon State game this year or some of his tape from Indiana.
He's not nearly the threat with his legs as he is with his arm, but he can convert crucial 3rd downs and goal to go plays with them if given the opportunity.

Hey PK -- What would you say you do here?

We blitzed throughout the game guys. Their OL far outplayed ours in pass pro.
Part of that is Quinn in the pocket. Part of that is individual OL failures. Part of that is a guy like Bralen Trice being too much for our guys.
I saw a few snaps where Their TE Westover was blocking Sorrell 1 on 1. Can you imagine JT Sanders even coming close to doing that on Trice or ZTF?
We finally started getting some pressure near the end, but Penix was more than able to handle it by moving in and out of the pocket.
