This doesn’t tell me much considering I don’t know which stats you are referencing or which weights are assigned to which inputs. Your list also includes wingers and centers, which makes me think this isn’t necessarily an apples to apples analysis.
You might also be taking a bit of a homer approach if you prefer Marchment over Nichushkin. I don’t have a dog in this fight, but there’s no way I’m ever taking Marchment over Nichushkin, regardless of the off ice issues. Not that Marchment isn’t a nice player, he’s just not Val. Val has scored nearly 20 goals over the last 3 post season, and that includes two early exits due to off ice issues. Marchment is not anywhere near that level of production.
Give away is an appropriate term. The forward depth for Colorado is absolutely brilliant. They looked much faster, more skilled, and just overall more noticeable. Val Nichuskin is a fucking horse. What a fumble by Dallas not sticking with that guy.
You fucking Stars and Avs fans better appreciate your GMs for what they do to keep your teams in the hunt. You could be stuck with a knuckle-dragging chimp like Don Sweeney who should have been ran out of Boston last year. He’s completely fucked this franchise and I’m concerned he’s going to fuck the future of this franchise because he can’t draft worth an ever-loving fuck. Guy has done nothing but piss off our best players with his stupid antics. I feel terrible for Pastrnak, McAvoy, and Swayman. Those three are probably asking “What the fuck has happened to this team?”
Leafs fans are some of the biggest pussies around. Much like Knicks fans, they think the sport of hockey revolves around the Leafs even though they haven’t won shit since the ‘60s. Shit players and teams are somehow magically transformed into elite teams when they throw on the maple leaf sweater. Their level of delusion rivals aggy.
I’m guessing you don’t follow a team that regularly plays Canadian teams, therefore you don’t have to regularly interact with their fans. Try listening to Leafs, Habs, and Sens fans spew nothing but completely delusional takes about how “good” their teams are for a few years and you might change your mind. It’s been an honor to completely own the city of Toronto and that shit hole franchise. Same with the Habs. Those fans can fuck off for an eternity.
I will never root for a Canadian hockey team. I’ve spent too much time bitterly fighting Habs fans, Leafs fans, and Sens fans.
The Bruins absolutely suck shit right now, so I’m just rooting for absolute chaos. I’m joining the dark side, this playoff run in a VGK fan. Plus we should have never gotten rid of Cassidy.
Ehhhhh….Middlestat hasn’t looked great in Colorado, guessing they think he can fit in the Boston system which is slower and more defensive oriented. That’s a giant question mark. Guess the meat is Zellers and the 2nd round pick. Just assets to use for a future trade. Coyle is a nice pick up for Colorado.
That’s honestly incredible if that’s true. The two firsts aren’t that valuable as they would likely be late round picks. Did Carolina get absolutely bent over on trades this season, or what?
And I posted literally two minutes too soon. Sounds like he’s signing in Dallas. $12MMx8. Kind of odd why he didn’t sign this in Colorado. They offered him this deal and he turned it down. Change of heart realizing he’s not going to make anywhere near Draisaitl got?
It seems clear that Mikko and rep want to hit the open market July 1st. Colorado/Carolina/Dallas have all extended $12MM+ x 8yr deals and he’s turned them all down. All three are cup contending teams that will be in the hunt for the foreseeable future. Guess he wants $13MM+ to play on shit teams like Chicago/Buffalo/San Jose. Quite odd really.
The NBA is fucking ass so no help there. I’d say an NFL comp would be Tyreek Hill. He’s talented but it’s pretty clear his game was elevated playing on the same line as MacKinnon. I could probably score 20+ a year snapping it around with Nate and I fucking sucked at hockey growing up.
Any time I watch him he’s always a step late and out of position. Never getting sticks in passing lanes. Forechecking is fine but nothing special. I’m not sure what that stat is that you’re referencing but I wouldn’t want to cut a $12MM+ check to a guy that basically plays one end of the ice. That’s basically center money and he’s certainly not that.
Would most certainly have to be a sign and trade for any team to get Rantanen. Why would a team copy the same mistake Carolina made? Would require a large haul to get him. I personally don’t think Rantanen is worth it. He’s a big guy that can score but I see him get knocked on his ass nearly every shift and he’s brutal defensively. Paying over $12MM for a winger right now is madness imo.
