  1. Trent is the glaring omission but he has run his ass off the last 180 minutes, coming off a hammy injury. Gomez has earned some time at RB.
  2. City has already played Spurs twice. We still have a match against them at Anfield, however. City's remaining league fixtures are: @ Wolves v Brighton v Watford @ Leeds v Newcastle @ West Ham v Aston Villa Obviously not a lot of spots there where you can see them dropping points, but they've dropped four against Southampton this year, so who knows. Certainly Stevie G would love to help us out on the last day of the season.
  3. Based solely on YouTube, he looks a bit like Naby when he played at RBL. Which is to say, I have no idea where he fits in Klopp's system.

They should try and bring back Ancelotti.
  5. As an aside, have you read "Boomtown" by Sam Anderson? It's a sprawling history of Oklahoma City threaded around the James Harden / Thunder saga and it's absolutely incredible. Some of the best nonficition writing I've ever read and extremely engaging.

The club's hierarchy is an absolute mess, similar to Man Utd. Both teams are ill-assembled, with talented players on paper who do not work well as a team. Benitez was never going to be a good fit for them – he was getting death threats before he signed. As soon as they hit a rough patch, whatever goodwill he had from fans evaporated. Didn't help that they dealt with a ton of injuries and he inherited a mish-mash squad of players brought in by like five different managers. The Lampard hire was also a huge mistake imo. He doesn't have a great track record and has never been involved in a relegation scrap as a player or manager. They honestly should've brought Big Sam back so at least they wouldn't get relegated.

Oof. Hard to see where they pick up points, outside of Watford. Burnley's remaining fixtures are markedly easier:

Burnley strike first. Collins in the 12'.
  9. According to reports, we've offered Mo £400K/week, and both sides want to get the deal done. 🤞
  10. Thiago made some passes today that just boggle the mind. So much fun to watch. He also had one giveaway in the second half, when he tried to play the ball to himself around a defender, that could've easily led to a goal had it not been Watford. Jomez had a great game going forward today. Really impressive. Obviously the assist but he also played a ball with his left foot that nearly led to a goal. Our defending has been imperious. Attack was a little sluggish and Mo hasn't looked himself post-AFCON but hopefully a matchup with City gets him fired up and back in the goals.
  11. Going to be in OKC in a couple weeks, stopping for a day and a half w/ the family on our drive home from Texas. Itinerary is shaping up but I'd love to hear thoughts/suggestions from people more familiar than me. We've got two young kids and will be traveling with our dog, so that has an impact on things. Day 1 - arrive in OKC mid/late afternoon - Scissortail Park so the dog can stretch her legs, kids can play on the playground - happy hour/early dinner at Social Capital - hopefully put the kids to bed and grab a few pints at Prairie Day 2 - Either Factory Obscura, an immersive art experience that looks fun for the kids - Or First Americans Museum, which finally opened last year and is supposed to be fantastic - lunch at Riviere Modern Banh Mi - Skydance Brewery, a Native-owned craft brewery that's supposed to be pretty good - dinner at Ludivine Day 3 - breakfast at ? - head home
  12. Can't remember who but a poster here was losing their mind about a week trying to figure out how we could replace an injured Trent. What a dumbass!
  13. Sounds like Trent is progressing through his hamstring injury Internationalitis nicely.
  14. The top four are all locked in and clinched. The #5 spot is a three-way race, as explained by Captain Ron. Peru is in the driver's seat, a point ahead of Colombia. Peru is home Paraguay, Colombia is away to Venezuela. Chile needs the most help and plays on the road at Uruguay, though Uruguay is playing for nothing having already qualified. Whoever takes fifth in CONMEBOL will play the fifth place finisher from Asia in a one-off match on June 13/14, played in Qatar. Winner of that match qualifies for the WC2022.
  15. Oh man, blast from the past. First known as HoustoNole and then IcyHotStunta. And yes, he loved him some Azzurri.
  16. Jota might be the best header of the ball in the PL. Dude nods them in from impossible positions.

TIL that Jermaine Defoe had not yet retired: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/60860430
  18. Probably gonna listen to this ten thousand times during the interlull.
  19. Agreed. Not sure how they rate him a 6/10, especially when he put in the ball for the winner. Overall we were pretty poor and that was almost as hard to watch as an NCAA basketball game. Good to get it out of our system and not have to play Mane or Salah, who are both off to Africa for a two-legged WCQ against each other. Helluva run of fixtures in April:
  20. Speculation that Trent might be available for City, which sounds unrealistic. Certainly we'll sit him against Benfica in the hopes that he can get fit, but if he can't go, do we play Jomez at RB? He offers almost nothing going forward, so even though he's a better defender than Milner, we really have to change our style of play. I think whoever is going to play against City has to play in the first leg against Benfica, just to get their sea legs a bit. The wild cards would be Tsimikas and Conor Bradley. I don't think Tsimikas on the right is realistic, given how left-footed he is, but he's a gamer and has CL experience. It's hard to imagine Bradley getting thrown to the wolves like that but at least we can play our preferred style with him and Klopp might give him the next few weeks to see if he's up for it. Recall Neco? Might piss off Fulham and jeopardize a potential deal for Carvalho? He honestly might be the best option though.
