  1. Well I posted it for the video of an absolutely incredible goal and not the dumb tweet but I guess it's not working now.
  2. Mané concussed v Cape Verde and now Mo is playing extra time vs Cote d'Ivoire. Not ideal imo.

    AFCON 2022

Sadio Mané was taken to the hospital for a suspected concussion. He'd continued to play despite a nasty collision, and went on to score a goal before getting subbed off. Senegal has been pretty abysmal and they desperately wanted to avoid an embarrassing loss to Cape Verde, so of course you risk his health in order to keep your best player on the field...

Comoros is forced to play their left back at GK today after all three of their recognized goalies are out. Two are out injured and one apparently didn't pass Covid protocols, despite testing negative. https://theathletic.com/news/comoros-keeper-ali-ahamada-out-of-cameroon-match-despite-negative-covid-19-test/SZjLKF5gfIAQ/
  5. Naby Lad is on his way back to Liverpool after Guinea lost to Gambia 1-0. Hopefully he doesn't pick up an injury on the flight home.
  6. Still can't believe that was called a penalty but ultimately it doesn't really matter. Would rather they'd called the clear penalty on Jota when we played Spuds. Nine points back with a game in hand, which still puts us as a long shot but it's far from over. We are away to City on April 9 and have some tricky PL fixtures prior to our visit, as well as the League Cup final and our CL fixtures against Inter: v Leicester @ Burnley v Norwich v West Ham @ Brighton v Man U v Watford Man City's upcoming PL fixtures v Brentford @ Norwich v Tottenham @ Everton v Man U @ Palace v Brighton @ Burnley
  7. Si is a bit of a shit stirrer but I've always liked him. I've tuned out of the false positives drama because I couldn't give less of a shit but it sounds like he's ruffled some feathers. Pearce on the other hand is completely useless.
  8. With the way they do AFCON now, it would've been a spectacular failure by any of their teams if they'd not qualified. But yeah, none of us would mind seeing them knocked out soon.

Gallagher is a great player for Palace but I think that's his ceiling. I'd be surprised if he doesn't at least get a shot at Chelsea but I think he'll struggle and want to move to a place where he's the first name on the team sheet. Helluva season for him.

    AFCON 2022

Um, Cote d'Ivoire won AFCON in 2015. I watched it in an Ivorian restaurant in Harlem and it went to the 22nd PK. Drogba was not on the team but the rest of those dudes were.

FWIW, I also have YouTubeTV w/out the sports package and it's not letting me view it. When I go to YouTubeTV, it's telling me it requires Sports Plus which, I dunno, is Billiards TV worth $10.99/month?
  12. Mané could use some rest/competition. Diaz would probably start half of our remaining games and he'd basically cost what we paid for Jota, who also was brought in as a backup but is now basically first choice over Bobby. Pearce poured cold water on the speculation which honestly makes me think it's more likely to happen. I can't remember the last time he was right about a transfer.
  13. Terrible officiating (Kane should've seen red in the 10', Jota was fouled clear as day) but points at Tottenham are going to be much harder to come by against Conte's Spurs. Robbo's swipe was always going to be red after it went to review. Stupid on his part but it was a chippy, intense game.
  14. TIL people liked Alexis Sanchez.
  15. Agent Rafa does us a favor, getting a 1-1 draw at Chelsea.
  16. Konate has looked good. We need another one, feeling a little nervy. Bring on Bobby.
  17. Bobby is back in full training and is in contention for the Newcastle match. Curtis participated in his first training since the eye injury but still looks to be a week or so away. Lots of chatter about AFCON getting canceled but the official word is that they're not considering it, global pandemic and civil war in the host country be damned.

I think Rafa is well past it but the ownership is the reason for Everton's demise. Half a billion spent on players since Moshiri came in and Rafa is the sixth managers in the last six years. The whole club is a train wreck right now.
  19. Yeah, I'd love for there to be a domestic league here that was worth following. But as it is, I almost feel compelled to not follow because any sort of engagement rewards the insanely stupid ownership, but in actuality, I don't follow MLS because the league is so uninteresting due to the reasons alincoln outlined above.

They review literally every goal so I'm not sure that would be any sort of a meaningful metric.

They didn’t overturn anything in the Godfrey incident. I agree there’s not really a perfect methodology but the scores are for incidents in which a call on the field was overturned after looking at VAR.
