Sold out the football stadium for a volleyball game, so that's something I guess.

Fuck this shit, why can't the nerds come up with an alternative? Trump is dumb as fuck and still managed to roll out an exact carbon copy of Twitter.
Just need to see where the interesting accounts coalesce at. Then the replacement can take off

I'm just curious how many people here have actually had a package swiped off their porch too? I can't say that I have out of a good sized sample size in a very mixed income area of the world.(And they probably can't tell that they'd be swiping a 900 page book on life in the USSR either ahead of time either)

I mean he did leave out that a non-insignificant portion would be backgrounded on wheat pasture/cornstalks/milo stalks/backgrounding yards

So you still eat beef? How big is the ethical gap between a feed lot cow being raised for slaughter and a free range cow being raised for slaughter? Where is the line drawn?
Most of those cattle except for dairy culls are going to have spent plenty of time on grass before the finishing phase. Very little beef cattle cow/calf confinement.

Wait to you see what happens to a gallon of milk, or a quart of ice cream (which will now be sold in 22 oz containers)
Milk futures are off about a buck since this happened.

Eating a beef rib at 1701 bbq and clicked on this.
From the op article:
Nearly 6.5 million farm animals have perished in barn fires since 2013, according to an AWI analysis.
Wow.A handful of chicken barns would get you to 2 million animals pretty easy. Pretty much everything in agriculture will be burn at the drop of a hat because of the conditions they operate in, from equipment to grain storage to livestock buildings. Plus nothing is near a fire department than can to it in time to save a damn thing.

18,000 cattle with no human loss... how is that possible? How are 18k that close together??
It's not a CAFO if you spread them out. If you got 18K cows going to want them as close together as possible to make feeding and milking easier. Downside is it concentrates the waste and waste gasses as seen here.

Cargill announced that they are pulling out of Russian grain trade on July 1st, which means all the majors will probably say fuck it as far as messing with Black Sea trade for awhile.

I’ll also note that while not a hunter myself I was raised by hunters who are safety fanatics. I had carry an unloaded gun for two days before I was allowed to try to hunt for real. We unloaded and/or broke the gun before crossing fences etc. along with make sure you walked where you damn well sure should be.

Don’t carry, don’t plan too, have small collection of hand me down .410’s. I’ll also note that I’ve been drawn down upon by a non-police officer before and been jumped in a parking lot and it didn’t change my attitude about carrying

And then suddenly the folks at the private prison companies realize there is a whole new market for their buildings and services. And they already have the legislators in their pockets and on speed dial.
how long before prisons and schools are indistinguishable?
as a secondary point, even if every school was hardened to the point that people would quit trying to enter them and shoot kids, that will only redirect them to other targets. Bus stops? Sporting events? Churches? Malls? Wherever their chosen targets go.
so change the access to the weapons, AND change the mental health treatment. (Health insurance covering mental health treatments would be a nice move)
I’m legitimately shocked we haven’t had a major incident at a sporting event, especially the way some of the stadiums are laid out. The south side of Nebraska’s stadium would be a great example as it funnels a huge amount of people between a road, buildings and barricades with plenty of cover for bad actors

That's because some people think ETBF means you are a dude, probably.

28 year old woman? What the fuck? I hate to be that guy but when was the last time we had someone like that be involved in a shooting?
Probably the last time a school shooter didn't like Monday's.

Reminder that Gene Haas’ F1 team signed a sponsorship deal with Uralkali, a fertilizer giant in Russia, and gave the CEO’s son a seat in the car in 2021. They unwound the deal in 2022 and have been embroiled in a dispute with them as sponsor about a refund. The ties with Russia are extensive.
If Haas willfully supplied machine tools, I won’t be surprised to see the feds seek jail time.
Especially since Gene has already done Federal time for prior tax crimes.

It’s not like they did it in the middle of a bull market.
Interesting bias thought experiment:Last time we had a major farm crisis in the 80's they let a shit load of banks failed, and the FDIC pushed a lot of guys out of business by accelerating their loans.

I’m still trying to find more info, but seems like short term loans by Fed to any bank that need it to meet deposits.
Up to 1 year loans at 4-5% to back stop liquidity is what I saw

Seems to me that the VC folk should figure out a way to bounce back from their industry being disrupted. Maybe put your heads together and get a recapitalization plan going.

When are they going to run out of missiles? Seems like we've been hearing that for months?
Lobbing 80 cruise missiles every few weeks at random targets has to count a little bit as functionally out of them doesn’t it? It’s not like Russia has some sustained air campaign at this point

Agriculture is certainly not something I know a lot about, but some of this was very surprising to me. Kazakhstan is a country of 20 million but somehow the 8th largest exporter of wheat. If I had all 197 countries to guess at who was 8, I would have gotten well down the list before I said Kazakhstan, which rightly or wrongly I view as an arid desert like country. Certainly others were surprising as well, including the aforementioned Australia.
Wheat's a weed, you spit on it and it'll grow. There's a reason we only grow it in the driest parts of our ag belt.
