Liked him when he was at SMU...then again, I was 12 and didn’t know shit.  The older I get, the more idiotic his existance appears to be.

I didn't, because we all already knew how much SMU boosters paid him and Eric Dickerson to become amateur football players for their school.  FCJ.

Stiles Switch had deep fried beef rib today with cream gravy. Line wrapped around the place.

I've had that before, it's very tasty.  Glad I didn't try to go this time though.

  3. I like non-crowded non-sold-out shows at Stubbs.  Not sure it's a top ten venue nationwide, but ok sure.  I actually prefer really small venues like Saxon Pub over any of the larger ones.

    Red Rocks is pretty awesome.

    Hollywood Bowl is cool too.

Those are the only three on the list I've visited.

Had dinner with the wife at Mouton's Bistro last night.  I was pleasantly surprised, but you're driving to Leanderpark to eat at one.

It WAS filled with hipster douches (oxymoron in the middle of suburbia I would have thought) playing trivia that kept yelling "Balls" after the host would say "Sports" as a category, because you know...being too cool for sports is a thing now.

Which one did you go to, the "new" one in CP, or the original one in Leander?

I'd heard the one in Leander was really good, so was excited to try the one in CP when it opened.  I was pretty disappointed in it, but it was fairly early on, maybe a month or two after opening...

There's really no committee; it was a joke by the boss.

The request for no desserts was made by the vast majority of 40+ women in my office who have expanding asses.  However, I do believe after conferring with a couple of others there will be some dessert of some kind.

What I was interested in was the soup angle.  How, what, whatnot.  I'm trying to wrap my head around the notion of soup to a potluck.

Does chili constitute soup?  What about chicken and dumplings?

I say YES, and it was my first thought.  Take chili, be happy.

  6. WW2 museum is great.

The New Orleans Pharmacy museum is small, but also kind of cool.  It's in the Quarter on Chartres.  I went there for a special event (cousin in-law lives in New Orleans and had the wedding reception there) and a tour was part of the event, so I'm not sure how to access it on a "normal" day but it was fun.

Hit up El Dorado today based on this thread. Got there at 11:30 and the place was packed already, but we got our food in a fairly timely fashion and it was legit. Will definately be back since it's in my hood, I just never thought about going there. Probably because the location makes it easy to forget its there.

That strip center in a hole has been the death of just about every business that's attempted it.

On the plus side, plenty of parking for El Dorado, so...

In most years going 6-6 would mean going 2-6 in the SEC. That’s pretty much dumpster fire level.

Sure, but they've rationalized it for the past 7 years.  I don't see that changing.

    It's actually astounding.

There were a bunch of UT fans that seemed nervous (prob not on here) because they were getting a "great coach".

My first thought* was - so the guy that took a program that has been a national contender for 30 years now - in maybe the best recruiting location in the country - and drove them into the ground and lit the match after soaking everything in gasoline - and this is the man you give a 10 year, $75 million contract to?

Okay. We'll see how it goes.

Well, sort-of.  But I don't think it's possible for them to reach the kind of 4-8  depths that Franchione and Sherman experienced, simply because they schedule themselves into an easy 6-6 every year.  That's pretty much going to be their floor, going forward.

I hate that it was the Cowboys who put the final nail in the Eagles, but it was coming anyway. Total SB hangover: age, injuries, performance drop-off, coaches leaving, tough schedule, and the cliche of opponents wanting it more now.

Now I hope NFC teams look at this film and realize you shouldn't just play conservative against Dallas because you expect a low scoring game. Receivers can get open, and you can run inside with some success against them.

And the refs - WTF on both sides. The teams were struggling enough, we didn't need those ridiculous calls on major plays from literally the opening kick all the way into OT.

Conversely, I am delighted that it was the Cowboys that put the final nail in the Eagles.  Because fuck Philadelphia, the city of brotherly hate. :)

Yeah, we're gonna need see some gear lists so we can tell you from the comfort of our couches how you're doing it wrong.

    Ha!  Exactly.

Actually, I'll do it from the comfort of my RV couch, whilst watching the bowl games on the satellite TV mounted into the RV.  But I won't set up my mobile WIFI hotspot, because I prefer to rough it.
