He definitely should have been more patient and likely woulda had him later, but as the Sky guys were saying (can't remember who, again ... Brundle & Nico?) I can see why he went for it. Vettel was struggling on those tires and went way wide, so there was a gap. Max just misjudged it and came from too far back, carried too much speed, and locked up. Judging from his comments after the race, he did definitely seem to understand his mistake. I think he'll be fine. He's learning. Once he gets a real command of when & where to try some of these moves, and when to hold off, he'll be pretty amazing imho.

I guess I HOPE he's learning from it?  But he wasn't clean with his attempt on Lewis either.

I thought it was funny they made some initial comments on whether or not Seb left him room.  I mean, there was a TON of room.  Ricciardo could have driven a double-decker London bus through that opening and had plenty of room to spare.  That there was THAT much room, and Max still plowed into him, just shows you how ill conceived that move was.

Anyway, I hope Max is learning.  He's certainly not the "safe guy" but he's also not the "winning" guy, not with moves like that.  Like The Guy Under The Seats, I'll be always watching.  Watching and waiting... ;)

Fantastic team effort all weekend by Red Bull Racing, and wow Ricciardo. Say what you want about these guys, but I really dig the way they work.  I loved what one of the Sky guys said about pitting on the SC (can't remember who it was), that RBR is a racing team and just made the call on the fly while the other guys waited for their engineers to tell 'em what to do, and there just wasn't time for that.

And another race, another awesome effort by Alonso, finishing P7 despite bad timing of the SC right after he pitted. Really wanna see him in a top car again. Gasly wtf? Shut the door? There was never a gap. Poor Kimi, reduced to mobile roadblock for Vettel.

Agree, but that also made his podium finish so rewarding.  Just wish he had been able to mount a better threat against Bottas in the closing laps.

Oh, the other WTF moment was Max.  No, just... no.  That wasn't a legitimate racing move, but it certainly was a typical Max move.  As goofyboy said above, he's just GOT to learn some patience as part of his racecraft.  It's possible and even likely that with his tire situation, he would have gotten around Seb anyway and the RBRs could have finished 1-2.  I had high hopes for Max but right now his screwups are becoming the rule rather than the exception.

This thread is a shitshow waiting to happen.

I love these threads because they always show me exactly how stupid people are and what horrible stupid fucking opinions they have.  It makes me glad that I hate all people equally and without discrimination, because people are basically stupid and terrible.

So thanks and keep posting so I know exactly how stupid some of you dumbfucks actually are!

(Not all of you, some of you are actually correct.  So good job!)

Prague was great and is my new favorite city in Europe.

We had an AirBnB a few blocks from the Old Town Square so we were central to everything.  Friday night we got to town around 11pm, so we quickly changed then walked into the first bar we found down the street called James Dean.  There was a line outside and I generally don't do bars with lines, but it had a good crowd, so I asked the bouncer how much to skip the line.  He said "100", which at first I thought was 100 Euro, so I said no thanks.  But then I realized he meant 100 Koruna, which is like $4, so I happily handed him the money and it was at that point I realized the affordability of this place.  There is a chill bar area and restaurant upstairs, and a dance club downstairs.  The women inside were phenomenal and the drinks were cheap.

The next day we walked to Old Town Square, grabbed a beer and sausage, and started walking.  They're renovating the clock so we missed out on that.  We walked across the Charles Bridge, then up to St. Vitus, and finally down to Lennon Wall.  St. Vitus was absolutely gorgeous.  Behind the cathedral there was an area with food and beer booths.  I grabbed a beer and one of those cinnamon/sugar fried pastries with the chocolate inside.  Game.  Changer.  Fuck that thing was good.

That night we did one of those Prague Pub crawls.  It was more or less a waste of time.  There were probably 25 people doing the crawl.  The first bar we went to was completely empty except for those of us in the crawl.  Then they took us to Duplex which is a club further south of city center.  The club was pretty cool and had a good crowd.  The DJ was putting on a pretty solid show upstairs too.  Best of all, grade-A ass crawling all over that place.  We left about 3am and walked over to Karlovy Vary just to see if it lived up to the hype.  It didn't.  The guy to girl ratio was probably 5:1 and it was packed full of tourists.  We shut it down at 6am, grabbed a doner, and headed home.

Prague is one of those cities that you need to spend a week in to truly appreciate it, and I wish we had more than 36 hours there.  10/10, would visit again.

Glad you had a good time, it's one of my favorites as well.  Always looking forward to my next chance to visit Prague.

  5. That was the most fun race I've watched in a long, long time.

Totally agree with RamJet, the TWO double-stackded pitstops from RBR were absolutely great.  I had to back up and rewind to watch the first one, and then they did it again.  Wow, just wow.  They certainly lucked out on the timing of the safety car, but like General Patton and Saint Darrell said, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity."

Ricciardo is such an easily likable guy and it was great seeing him put in the work to win it.

Kimi taking one for the team and waiting so long on his pit, and then reaping the reward of the podium, was also great.

Fred getting past Vettel was a treat.

Only real WTF moment I can think of is the STR collision.  Come on, man, WTF?

    Fun race.

    Surly 1%'er post coming up.

Long story short, Mrs. FromTheMailRoom has decided she wants a higher end, large boat.  This is something completely out of my wheelhouse, so I need a little guidance.  She want's something 75 ft+ that has a motor and not a sail.  Something with 2+ cabins in case we wanted to stay on it overnight and needs to be freshwater.

Does anyone have any experience with this?  She said freshwater but I think putting it on Lake Travis is a terrible idea.   Does it make sense to have something like that in the gulf?  Is it something best to go through a manufacturer for or is there some type of brokerage that could possibly locate one?  What kind of things should I be looking for?

No you're not getting pictures of my wife.

So, I hear this thing might be coming available soon.  It would look great docked at the Emerald Point marina...

So who is playing the male Tess that is the true object of the robbery and will they inevitably play the male Tess playing themselves when they go to Europe for hijinks in Oceans 9?

I'm thinking they skip the buildup and there's just a scene where Sandra Bullock pretends she's Sandra Bullock because... you know... she looks like Sandra Bullock.

Also, isn't Kristen Wiig supposed to be in all female reboots of previously male-cast shows?  They must have just skipped her bit in the trailer in order to surprise us...

But I'll probably watch it as a rental.  I like Sandy.

  8. It was pretty pink.  Most folks weren't drinking pints, they were drinking bottles.  And my friends and I were typically mixing it with Grand Cru to make CruBerry.

I used the oven method for the roux and I can’t believe how well it worked. I got it so deep and dark, gumbo turned out great.

Word up.  Oven method is the truth, even if ERhine is an old fogey overly set in his ways. :D
