there was never any chance that after coming close against Clemson last year, A&M fans were going to be even remotely realistic about the rematch

keep in mind that if it had been 42-14, a third of A&M's fans would have expected a win the next year anyway because "WE'S DUE!!!!"

you make it 28-26 and that number goes to two-thirds-- doesn't matter who adds what, loses what, where the game's played, etc. it was close last year and Aggies want to win therefore advantage A&M in 2019

    Yup.

My prediction-- Clemson's win will not be close in 2019.

I'm not sure if it's okay to post on both threads, but here goes.

I don't think she's crazy. She's angry. Westeros is a horrible place filled with horrible people as far as she's concerned. She sacrifice greatly to protect Westeros from the army of the dead and gets no love. The 'innocents' in the Red Keep flocked to the woman who betrayed Dany and who cold-bloodedly killed a close friend and adviser.

King's Landing embodies what she despises about Westeros. I'm not sure that she wants to rule this shithole.

    Eh.

I mean, that's certainly one explanation for what she did.  But given her character's previous love and care for the oppressed and innocent in the world, I don't think it's a particularly believable one.

She embraces and even celebrates many of the Dothraki ways, and yet she hated their practice of raping and pillaging conquered lands so much, that she basically created a civil war within her own tribe in an effort to end it.  And also, you know, breaking the chains and all.

Even if this is the intent of the showrunners, I'm not buying it.  It was a weird and hurried rush toward a plot point without anywhere near enough development to get there in a believable way.  Just my opinion of course, and we all gave our own views.

Overall though I still really enjoyed this episode and still enjoy the show.  My quibbles are minor.  I'll be watching again on Sunday, and I'll be sad to see it all end.

I will readily admit, however, that cramming all of the rapid-fire one liners over the seasons into the "previously on" to try to foreshadow and justify Dany's turn was pretty weak sauce.  I mean it's better than her tossing and turning in a dream state while floating heads go by saying all of those one-liners.  But not much better.

  4. I think she's going after Dany.  Whether you liked watching her stumble around the ruins of King's Landing for a half an hour or not, it was pretty obvious that she was touched by the plight of the innocent townspeople and became more enraged with the needless destruction every moment.  And she knows that exactly one person is responsible for all of that needless destruction.

Dany, you just made the list.

    Good points.

Maybe part of the point with Dany is that it's a fine line between killing for the right reasons and killing for more power once someone gets used to killing in the first place.

Or, maybe the point is on us: once we excuse killing for the right reasons, we make it easier for a tyrant to rise then start killing for the wrong reasons.

Either way, I feel that people calling this a "flip" with Dany are missing the point.  It's not a flip.  It's just the next part of her arc.  Whether it's a huge leap or not depends on whether you believe she was ever good and noble in the first place or whether she was always going to burn King's Landing either way.

I think there was enough evidence established over multiple seasons, that she was a defender of the weak and oppressed-- and especially women-- that it was strongly against her nature to slaughter an entire city's worth of them.  That's what people are struggling with, and I think it's a legitimate criticism of the writing.

Some way or another the Dothraki and Unsullied need to leave Westeros either by boat or on a funeral pyre by the end of next week. No way that’s happening unless somehow Snow turns the dragon on them

I have a feeling the new seat of government will likely be in the north and there won’t be any more dragons in Westeros (save for a few unhatched eggs they show somewhere on a fadeout)

Ok - the episode is about them taking her out. What about the unsullied and Dothraki? They follow her - how do you take them out? If she gets killed, you still have to take care of them somehow.

Why is there no magic?  red woman was the last sorcerer?  IMO this is the laziest writing of all.

Bran storyline is still lackluster as hell when the balance of the kingdoms is at hand.  Hodor died for this fuck?

Cersei, if she survived, Brienne, and Dany could all have offspring that take the story forward.  That seems the least of our, the viewers', concerns right now.

The real question is why anyone would follow Dany, breaker of chains but ignorer of rightful heirs to the Throne...why is the truth such a threat?

Bran is a skinchanger.  It's entirely possible he could warg into Drogon and make it take out the dothraki and the unsullied if necessary.  Perhaps Dany too, but I think it more likely that pissed-off Arya gets to her first.

So our upcoming OOC has these home and homes on it: LSU, Alabama, Michigan, tOSU, Georgia, and Florida. Not bad. Not bad at all. Playing the best of the Big 10 and SEC without having to join either conference.

Exactly.  This is a direct response to the vocal minority that think changing conferences would actually be a good idea.  Getting to play the best teams in the SEC and B1G, while not having to play Illinois and Indiana and Kentucky and Texas A&M, is a GOOD thing.

    Exactly.

As I've noted here before:  I have Plantagenet blood.  But that doesn't stop that Saxe-Coburg-Gotha bitch from sitting on my throne.

This just means you're a frog and had no business on the throne of England anyway. Plus your idiot line gave us York and Lancaster and caused all kinds of ridiculous problems.  The Hundred Years War was a mercy compared to your ancestors' rule.  Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

  10. My guess-- Aaron Rodgers will play a small-time knight that think he deserves the Iron Throne, gets leap-frogged at the last second by a much more deserving character, and will then whine about it for decades while also being the douchiest knight the Seven Kingdoms has ever known.

Or he'll get torched by a dragon, which would be really, really satisfying.

  11. No, I think we all know that a new set of "investors" simply outbid the old "investors" when it came to payouts to corrupt Brazilian officials.  That's the only way anything ever happens in that particular country.

  12. I think the rebranding to Ram only, eschewing the Dodge name, is weird and confusing in the marketplace.  Not unlike the entire Landrover/Rangerover problem that persists to this day in the USA.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter to me, I've had several Chrysler products in my lifetime and I'd happily buy a Ram if it suited me, but I just think it's a goofy move.

Yup.  Tastes vary and whatnot.  But a lot more people disagree with spanky, than agree, so he can take that bulljive it to the unpopular opinions thread.
