The reason is money. When negotiating terms for the ACC Network, espn said move to 9 conference games or take less money, and the ACC ADs elected to take less money.

Yup, fundamentally it's money.  Similar to the ACC, the B12 was told by its Tier1/2 media partners that it needed to go to 9 conference games to provide better inventory for those media partners.  The B12 could have refused, but would have then been forced to accept less money.  The B1G wanted to maximize the reach and appeal of its BTN, and so also opted to create a better catalog of in-conference games by insisting on 9 conference games per team.

I'd guess that the SEC media partners would also pay them even more money if they went to 9, but the SEC doesn't really need it, and clearly understands the competitive advantage of having only 8 conference games.

James Franklins reiterates what he said early in the year...

TLDR:  SEC getting teams in because their scheduling is setup to make it easier to go undefeated. Either they need to be made to change theirs or other conferences need to look to water theirs down.

For various reasons, the B12, B1G, and PAC, have elected to put themselves at a disadvantage by playing 9 conference games instead of 8.

If their goal were to maximize their conference's chances of placing one (or more) teams into the CFP, then they certainly have the option of dropping to 8 conference games, adding in more FCS teams, playing more of their marquee games at "neutral sites" instead of ever traveling to a hostile away environment, etc.  Those are all tricks the SEC and ACC have used to game the system, but there's no rule stopping the other 3 conference from doing the same.  They've made this choice on their own.

This is correct.  We were in the second level and screen was not an issue.  Also, one of the guys next to me broke a seat and winged it onto the field, or close to it anyway.  Don't think it hit anyone luckily, but man, he was not happy.

Sure... sure... it was "one of the guys next to" you... riiiiiggghhhttttt...

  4. There was also, briefly, a Curra's at Parmer and McNeil.  Maybe 2-3 years in the mid 2000s.  That location has been maybe 4-5 other restaurants since then.

  5. Relax, people.  The TX-OU game is never going to move to Jerryworld.  Think about it-- do you honestly believe the billionaire luxury-suite owners at either university would willingly give up a home game in their already-paid for luxury suites in our home stadiums, and PAY Jerry Jones for the right to use luxury boxes in HIS stadium?  That will never, ever happen.

The only thing keeping the game at the Cotton Bowl is tradition, and there is no tradition in Jerry's pro stadium in Arlington.  If it ever moves, it'll go home-and-home because that's the only acceptable alternative to the billionaire luxury suite owners.  But even that deicison is a long way off.  RELAX.

So I guess if we end up in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia we’ll need to start a thread about UGA versus the greatest armies in history. Of course, we’ll have to leave LSU off of that list.

    Apparently.

Or, alternatively, some of our fans are just a bunch of terrified little pussies.

They were allowed to mug our receivers and their OL is allowed to hold every play. We didn't play well but, fuck, that's a hard uphill road.

How often did we hear Omenihu's name called?

There's an obvious reason for that.

For those putting on new shoes, what are you doing with the old/new ones? I can’t comprehend putting on new tires when I have new tires.

    BUT BIGGER IS BETTER! :)

I'll likely do a leveling kit too, soon, and bigger shoes would have to go with it.  Even though the current tires only have ~2K miles on them.  I suspect I'll keep the old-new tires in the garage in case I want to go back.

Yeah, that 1995 NU team obliterated a murderers' row of teams.

    #9 Kansas was crushed, 41-3.

    #7 Kansas State lost 49-25.

    #5 Colorado went down 44-21.

And of course, #2 Florida was eviscerated 66-24.

That's four teams that finished in the Top 10, defeated by an average margin of 32 points each. And the one team they only beat by 14? A Podunk Wazzu team that went 3-8 on the year. Weird.

Players just can't get up for every game-- not even the 95 Huskers, which IMO is the best college football team of all time.

(Although somehow time-warping and seeing them play the 2005 Longhorns would have been a lot of fun)
