Just watched. Amazing in some really subtle ways.

I cannot fathom being a Trans Jew in Nazi Germany. The first 3 Trans operations in 19 fucking 30 something blows my mind. Not that it happened, but that Trans people were so desperate to reconcile who they were that they would undergo what I have to assume was the most experimental, ham-fisted, life altering surgeries blows my mind. 100 fucking years ago. Jesus.

It gave me a real moment of understanding for Trans issues. Or my lack of understanding of Trans issues. I paused the documentary to process why I was more appalled by that part than some of the other appalling shit being depicted. My conclusion is I'm mentally comfortable with Gay, but have been subliminally skeptical of Trans. Seeing that level of desperation tells me I just don't understand.

    Any other recommendations?

Berlin was waaaay ahead of its time pre-Hitler. Vibrant scene, queer and trans. Stunning really. I don’t have have any recs to offer but I do appreciate your honest and I’m glad something resonated with you. The thing is, the more things change the more they stay the same. Facts and circumstances vary from culture to culture, society to society, person to person and generation to generation but in the west we trans folk still risk an inordinate amount in our lives - an amount cisgender, white, straight folk likely cannot fathom - just to have a chance at quieting the unrelenting sound of gender dissonance in our heads.  Relationships, money, career, opportunity, shit man if I went into the opportunities I’ve lost because of transition, not to mention the people I’ve lost, you’d be at risk of swallowing flies. Jaw dropping losses, and here’s the thing devastating loss is the rule for our people not the exception. And yet we are still adamant we must do it because the alternative is death sometimes by suicide, sometimes by slow declines like alcoholism and sometimes by a life felt as a complete and utter waste of inauthenticity.

Yup. So it ain’t gonna happen.

It’s going to happen just too late. There are changes happening just not enough. China EV adoption rate and their clean energy projects are very impressive, as an example. Europe and US initiatives are accelerating as well. Industry innovation is extremely promising. We could ban petroleum plastic bags now and go with fully biodegradable bags. There is tons of technology waiting to be relied upon. But in the end, as we humans do, we react way too late to the problem. These solutions are 20 years too late and soon to be 30-50 years too late.

Why are my dogs bad for the environment?

Same reasons humans are bad for the environment except the dog per se isn’t the problem - we are and we have too many, we feed them meat and the dog food industry is disgusting.

dogs or no dogs is not where this battle gets won. It gets won on innovation, mass migration away from carbon based energy (electricity and fuel), new and improved energy storage techniques, carbon capture and sequestration, and elimination of petroleum based plastics.  There is more but if we do that we are well on our way and our dogs keep getting belly rubs and treats.

we already have the answers for most of this, what we lack is political will. Individual will won’t get it done, as much as we each try, it’s got to be governmental and industry initiatives and mandates.

coming at people for having dogs is simply barking up the wrong tree.

  5. I think it’s pretty simple really, social media and video games are fun and easy. Next thing you know the girls not only aren’t interested they don’t even know you exist. Then the self reinforcing doom loop begins.

this weekend - one son is helping us build garage shelves and he’s as good or better with tools than my GC wife and does the tik tok thing for 10 mins and puts it down, another is video gaming for hours (he did practice for and have a competition for band today), but guess which one has the most game? Guess which one has had 3 girlfriends?

Life can get pretty crazy. I was a 22-year-old guy, pretty well built, muscular but not ripped. We were on spring break at Lake Havasu. At a drinking contest on the beach one day, I met a girl named Kimmi, and she was gorgeous - blonde, tan, ample breasts and attractive legs. Well, one thing led to another and we found ourselves back in her hotel room, going at it pretty hot and heavy. She taught me things I’d never even thought of, and the sex was incredible.

Well, 20 years later, I came home, and my wife, who is a former ballerina, was drinking wine and having a good time with a new friend. I started drinking, too, and before you know it, we’re playing a game of Truth or Dare. Maybe we were drunk, I was definitely horny, and watching my wife, a brunette, talking to her friend, a beautiful well-proportioned blonde, and I thought. Well, you all know what I thought. So, I dared her to make out with me. At first she refused, and interestingly my wife got upset, and things became a little awkward. So, my wife's new friend gave me a kiss - nothing romantic more of a gentle kiss on the lips. But, it was really nice, if a little wet. I really don’t know what I was thinking at that point.

At that point, my wife leans over and gives me a kiss too, and put her hand high up on my leg. I have got to say, I got a little excited. In the past, my wife was into more of the conventional stuff. This was way outside her comfort zone. I don't know really what happened next. Things got kind of lusty and we went to our bedroom and turned the lights low. It was freaking crazy. The best sex of my life. My wife said the same thing. Just fucking incredible.

Did I mention, the girl's name was Kimmi? Similar figure to the girl I messes around with 20 years earlier. Was it the same girl? Did she look me up after all these years? Shit, I don't know what to do next. But, I can't wait for us to get together again.

After my divorce I had a few albeit fleeting thoughts about being the third in a threesome. My gf at the time - now wife - was like do what you gotta do just don’t get a STI. Decided against it but it made for some fun thought life for a while. I have no doubt I could have fucked as many couples as I could handle. Folks are kinky out there. I landed on the plain vanilla suburban lawyer mom role. Seems to work well for me.

Of course….the NEXT phase of that is that your wife never calls you….except when something really bad has happened.
Now, when the phone rings during the day and I see it’s her, my instant thought is “oh shit…what’s broken/caught on fire/who died?”

Yep though that was first wife for sure now working from home it’s more of a leave me alone don’t come talk to me vibe.

That horseshoes back around once you get married.

I did have to do some training. I’m working, I bill by the hour, every minute you spend talking to me is another minute I have to stay later working.  First wife was dialed in on it, second one 7 years into is now fully trained.

It really hasn't changed in college.  My son and his male college mates had, "I'm in class, will call you later" as a cut and paste, and kept their phones on silent. He would not be able to hold down his job if he was still dating the last one. He is transitioning from dating college girls to dating women with jobs that understand that you have to be left alone during working hours.

There still is hope out there. We won't be going on a dive trip this year, CHIEF Jr. is in three different weddings and a traveling bachelor party, and it will use up what little personal time he has earned at work. At 26 about a third of his friends are married already, with probably half in long term relationships. Mostly small town guys marrying small town girls. I would be curious to see if this is a more urban or rural phenomenon.

    CHIEF

Before smart phones it was easier. My first wife was pre smart phones we would go a full day without talking sometimes while we were dating. My current wife and I started dating in the smart phone era, connected multiple times a day, but as adults with work it was manageable. Different but manageable.

There’s also a lot of conflation in this thread of 2 distinct groups:

Incels = guys that really want to get laid but “can’t”.

The other group that I guess has no name = young men that don’t have much desire to get laid and aren’t even engaged in the pursuit. This is the group that’s really the one growing in number.

My 16 year old has had 3 girlfriends already. His sex life isn’t any of our business - though I do the mom part pretty well here - but in any event he’s not super interested at this moment - reason? High school girls are needy as fuck according to him. He can’t have a moment alone  and she’s always blowing up his phone.

Hey @DixonHur this is another step along the path of fascism. Just since you seem to be fuckin oblivious to it

Can’t allow trans folk to be mainstream it’s ok. As long as we keep it to ourselves it’s fine. And drag seems like it’s just a show so there’s no reason to allow it.

Two women together in a sexual situation is absolutely erotic. But, I’m going to stir the pot, because no one likes scorched gumbo.

Certainly, there are women who are wired to be attracted to women. But, there are women who are attracted to individuals, and who are unconcerned about the gender of their attraction. Also certainly, there are men who similarly are attracted to individuals, with gender not being a factor in their affection.

I am compelled to make this post after understanding the experience of Marina Navratilova, and deciding she wasn’t treated fairly by those unwilling to agree with my second paragraph.

I’m honestly not sure what you’re trying to communicate about her? Might you further explain?

  13. So I’m confused…. Do I have to wear make up or not? Am I allowed to fish and what not? Can I keep my truck? Am I allowed to wear lacey underthings for my wife? How am I supposed to throw a ball? Governor Abbott please do tell…

  14. My answers?

Disch Falk on a weeknight … Cactus Cafe for singer songwriter magnificence (used to be one of the only smoke free spots in town), and lake Travis at dusk… the legacy of what these three spots mean in my life will likely keep me here or at least close if we have to leave for a long long time.

Food, local travel, and music are among the top things to love about Austin.  Seems pretty natural they'd all feature prominently in a thread like this.

On that note, another thing I love about Austin... Bob Schneider at the Saxon Pub:

Geez are you in my head? Though we prefer him at the hill country galleria these days. #40dogs is my signature shout out to my lady. Like good times that haven’t happened yet but will.

I like Conan's much much much better than Desanos, but it's an entirely different style of pizza.

Deep dish Savage on whole wheat is the Truth.

Ok I wasn’t going to quote your pics but deep dish savage on whole wheat is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Sure a lot of nostalgia but still great.
