    Wine

I’ve said fuck all to Texas wine for years. Like two decades at least. Spicewood Vineyards is pretty damn good. We had the wine country itch Sunday and said fuck it let’s go drink swill. Had a GREAT Cab Franc, a Cali Pinot he made with Cali grapes, and their Viognier which is fucking legit. first pic is the Pinot, second is the cab franc. viognier is sleeping in the wine storage till it’s hot as balls.
  2. Snoop Dogg and I got into it a few times then took it to the side and talked at length in DMs. I don’t even remember what about, I do remember printing out some of them they seemed that meaningful at the time. After a while he and his daughter died in a tragic car accident - head on I believe. Caused by a seizure. Mother Russia - his wife was devastated. Never knew any of them in person, not even sure what they looked like. But it was then that I realized there is no distinction between the internet socials and in real life. Loree was after that I believe though maybe Loree was first I don’t recall now. What I know is both of those posters and their deaths had a profound impact on me. There’s no place for online bullying for those who believe in the importance and power of kindness and connection. That’s just my bottom line.
  3. That’s Cajun, he’s living his best life on the boat fanatics thread.
  4. I’d still like to know more about the decision making dynamics of the two days of assembly to know who and how many need to be hung by their balls but punishing students is only making it worse. It’s total bullshit.

    LBGTQ

I hate when people are exclusionary. Don’t really care the circumstances.
  6. i clicked on the thread thinking it was a mountain town the artists were moving to and I had never heard of it. the discussion was should I say not what I expected?
  7. I'm out. I think there are plenty of reasonable views here, I just want to know what really happened (you know fly on the wall), many of you know what happened. anyway, if Hartzell is the fascist then I want him out as much as I want Abbott gone. If this is more of the unrelenting meddling of a fascist governor and others, then fuck me running as well. doesn't matter which it is, our university is in deep shit, and I'll just leave it at that.
  8. It could matter because his replacement might be much worse. imagine if everyone that was squeezed in the trump admin resigned? as bad as this was, I don't want it to get worse. and oh boy can it.
  9. not even close to what I'm saying. if hartzell is the fascist, hang him by his sagging scrotum. I'm not sure he's the fascist though. I certainly would like to find out more.
  10. I was saying his hands were tied. that's the similarity between DEI and DPS show of force. now if we find out Hartzell was on his own with the DPS then I won't take back what I said about Abbott, but I will take back what I said about Hartzell. He's got to account for this if it was truly him - still acknowledging my first point about how difficult larger gatherings on heated topics can be in this current political and cultural climate.
  11. I'm operating from the premises it can get MUCH worse. so at this moment, I don't agree here. And no one should take that as defending the decision. when you are on defense, you give up yards, doesn't mean you want to do so. I think we are living in unprecedented times and the take over of UT is underway, my hope is that Hartzell is not on team Abbott and that UT can withstand the onslaught and we can turn the tide in elections soon. I doubt that happens but it's my only hope.
  12. this is what I'm saying. No fucking way Hartzell asked for help and here comes the goons, in mass numbers, in full riot gear, there in force quickly. BULLSHIT. I think Hartzell's hand was forced. if we start with the premise that Abbott is a thug, what do thugs do? been watching the Godfather with my boys this week - Abbott made Hartzell an offer he couldn't refuse. Now should Hartzell stand up to Abbott? I don't know, that depends on a lot of other factors the facts of which I simply am not privy to. But I'd sure as shit love to know. The DEI shit and now this shit? Yeah, I'm very, very concerned which way this goes.
  13. I didn't miss the point, I don't think the comparison is apt, I think there is a lot more going on than Hartzell being a MAGA bootlicker. He very well may be, but to conclude that right now is juvenile. The last thing I want is for this shit to get worse and leadership at UT can get MUCH, MUCH worse under our current and worsening state politics. Will Hartzell take us down that path or is he doing his best to be a bullwark against it, I don't know. He very well may be.
  14. I 100% agree about Abbott. I don't know enough about Hartzell to say the bold is 100% true. The shocking truth is UT leadership could get MUCH worse post-Hartzell. I have no idea where Hartzell is at - being subservient to Abbott for personal gain or subservient to try and keep him at bay on at least some of the day-to-day. But the meddling by Abbott and Texas MAGA is intense that I 100% believe. We are in unchartered waters here imo.
  15. 100% and that's what I think is really going on.
  16. if they didn't cover it all up under privilege they are morons.
  17. not really. that CEO isn't subject to being crushed by MAGA state leadership. you can't say he's a public servant then use a private for profit example, they aren't even close to the same thing. I'm simply stating we do not know what happened that led to this with respect to this singular decision. As for Hartzell as a president, his leadership is certainly suspect I agree and to that point, I have the same questions. To what extent is UT getting squeezed by state politics in ways that make his decision making authority futile? To what extent is he being told on certain topics what he has to do or else? I think UT has much bigger issues to be concerned about than simply a president that may suck. I think the problems are much more dire than that.
  18. fuck yeah, I applaud that. I do think you will be unceremoniously blocked on the exception of attorney client privilege.
  19. I don't agree with his decisions on the face of it. I'm simply saying it was a tough spot under current political dynamics not the least of which is the likely intense pressure from the office of the governor and as someone very interested in the truth, I don't know the whole story regarding how the shitty decision was made. that's all. you should ask more questions and assume less. I spent more than an hour counseling my best friend's daughter on how to show up on campus and protest yesterday (she's a student at UT). I talked about what happen the day before with her too. you jump to conclusions too much and it prevents you from seeing the nuance. I do not support Hartzell's decision, I do support the right to assemble, I think Abbott is a power thirsty thug and I think the DPS is mostly full of goons. I also don't know have the full story on what really happened that led to Hartzell's decision and neither do you.
  20. jesus christ on what planet do you think I'm defending abbott or DPS? get the fuck outta here with that shit. fuck them.
  21. not commenting on their past (I was commenting on "our" past and "their" present). for 18-22 year olds assembling - if you are of voting age and assembling with respect to a political issue, it's a complete waste of your time if you don't donate, volunteer and vote.
  22. I hear you, I think you are reasonable, I think your position is reasonable. I just don't know enough. free speech (and more accurately the right to assemble) in and of itself is complex area of the law, so it's not ever really black or white. AND, fuck DPS and the goons that used bullshit tactics to get the assemblers in trouble.
  23. Calling for help is part of the difficult position. Of course campus police can’t handle it. DPS is under Abbott’s control though, that’s the impossible position. Hartzell may be a POS fuck if I know, I’m not willing to go with a black and white / right and wrong / the buck stops with him / he’s a political hack position just yet. am I worried about UT and current politics … fuck yeah I am.
  24. Maybe it's a north Denver thing. I'm out south. We can't smell Greeley here. Tell me you don’t hang with the cool kids without telling me you don’t hang with the cool kids.
