you want to live a long time and have a healthspan well into your 80s? there are no short cuts.
1. diet - Mediterranean is the best - whole grains (truly), lots of vegetables especially leafy greens - get on the salad bandwagon it's where it's at, lean protein, olive oil, avocado oil, fruits, nuts and seeds, legumes/beans, limited dairy but cheese and yogurt is fine. avoid processed food at all costs, run away from added sugar like your life depends on it. little to no alcohol. consider some supplements. hydrate often.
2. exercise - weight training, intense bursts like with racket sports. walk, be in nature, get sunshine. work on balance, flexibility, functional movement (movement you need to do the things you love).
3. sleep - get it under control and figure it out.
4. relationships - cultivate meaningful relationships, have sex regularly.
5. de-stress - figure out routines outside of work to destress, keep your house clean, listen to relaxing music, walk, don't watch TV, don't doom scroll, put your phone down. spend several hours per evening relaxing with the intention to experience calm.
6. cognitive health - learn the tricks to good cognitive health, everything from keep your eye sight corrected to protect your hearing to making sure you don't have any vitamin/mineral/amino acid deficiencies. dental health, floss like your life depends on it, because it kinda does. vitamin D, some others too.
7. regular dr visits - check ups, blood work, and cancer screenings.
If you have health issues after doing these things then pharma can help. but otherwise pharma is just covering up the failure to live healthily and that will just lead to more and more meds.
