  1. his sports IQ is at least one standard deviation above the norm for most posters on this board, maybe two standard deviations above the norm for the football board. he actually has very well thought out takes on most texas sports, all the time. his posts are sometimes long, he often repeats himself but as true as that is, so is the beating he takes from grown ass men who cannot help themselves. three things are true here, the sun rising and setting, derka repeating himself (oh the fucking horror) and these guys just piling on every fucking thing he says while blaming only derka for the 17 car pile up that occurs.
  2. IT'S NOT A GIVEN HE PERFORMS BETTER THAN QE EITHER. The insanity persists... it's not a given AM fails. BUT for you and a few others, AM's ride to immortal glory last year was a given.
  3. Why did I wade back into this thread? the Derka / SC spat isn't even the most annoying part.
  4. you know what else didn't happen? AM take over for QE, AM lose to AZ State or someone else and then we have a fucking disaster on our hands. the trajectory of the program is headed up and has been every single year. there was more than a theoretical risk that last year would have been a disaster with yanking QE in favor of a redshirt freshman phenom. failure to see that risk, failure to see the program is on hella solid footing, in part because of how Sark managed a VERY delicate year last year is the problem.
  5. that conclusion is only really cemented after the Ohio State semifinal. two losses to Georgia could simply be Kirby/Saban coaching tree/got Sark's number, etc. probably not but more importantly ... ...fact is, you change THREE plays the last two years that have nothing to do with QE, QE leads Texas to 1 if not 2 national championships. That's much closer to a real fact than AM takes Texas all the way last year. a Blue fumble against WA, a mental lapse by the defense at the half of tOSU, AD doesn't run a lazy route, wingo isn't shoe string tackled against tOSU.... and yes more than a few QE plays could have changed the trajectory too but the fact remains we were super close twice and it wasn't clearly QE's fault, there are clear plays that had they gone our way, we're in dynasty mode. so while I might agree with everyone on what coulda, shoulda happened, it was not insane for Sark to stick with QE.
  6. because QB controversies rarely work out well, a merry go round would be a nightmare and it's unfair to a green, redshirt freshman to have him take over for an experienced QB that has won many games. because loyalty to an NFL caliber QB (he was drafted, everyone thought it would be higher to start the year) matters for all stakeholders especially future players, and because QE was actually good enough to win it all, twice. Sark fucked up play calling at times, WRs fucked up routes, D lapsed at halftime, RBs fumbled too much. you change TWO plays, maybe THREE plays the last two years and Texas is back-to-back national champions. it really was that close (I am assuming its a foregone conclusion Texas beats Michigan two years ago and ND last year if we advanced).
  7. I think the passes for 5 yards or less were high for two reasons - one it was by design, an extension of the running game especially with an ineffective inside running game and ineffective redzone running game. The second reason is QE checked down often, maybe too often. He may have been forced to check down because the secondary is shutting down the deeper routes because of no real running threat (QE isn't a scrambler) and more passing downs because of ineffective running on 1st and 2nd down to give third and short situations. what I think is going to happen this year is the exact opposite with AM running and tossing it deep, but I do think at times we are going to wish AM would check down more often.
  8. what about cottage cheese, I don't think I've ever tried it, am I missing anything?
  9. i mean this truly as apolitically as possible. there's nothing normal about the national guard deployment in DC under these circumstances, nothing close to normal at all.
  10. Ends right after the invasion of Crimea/early interference/invasion in Donbass, but 85% of the book is pre-1990’s and was originally written right after independence.
  11. I’ve never eaten a hamburger or hot dog with ketchup. Am I missing anything?
  12. Only on chapter 3 but this is a quality read. Two parts, first part written in the 1990’s, the second part in 2015 so it doesn’t cover the current conflict though it certainly will get into the Putin reign and his views on Ukraine. So far it’s really good, a decent distraction from a shit world at least.
  13. This poor guy. His kids will never respect him. He should at least get NFT royalties off every use of this gif.
  14. One day the guys who longcat argue with derka will realize they are part of the problem to, right? I for one found his screen shots amusing. The sheer volume of dudes that vehemently disagreed with him - and were clearly wrong - is next level.
  15. Number of weeks in the AP poll, number of weeks at #1 in the AP poll is a thing that gets tracked for dominance. Ergo being #1 at any time is never a bad thing.
  16. I mean if he banks his NIL from tOSU and from Texas he could coast for sure, but guiding isn't huge money. not like long term NFL contracts, UT connections / real estate deals, investment banking, etc.
  17. I have a new theory based on the definition I see in my own triceps and quads. I'm not sure QE knew how to find the weight room. he never really looked much different year to year. shit I've been lifting consistently 2x a week as a middle ager solely for health reasons not for high end competition for 6 months and I look totally different, there's no way he leaves the program after 3 solid offseasons looking like a normal guy. Arch on the other hand is already QB ripped. I think QE just didn't put the time in on the foundation in the off season to get better. I think it explains why he's slow, injury prone and seemingly not very strong. I could be dead ass wrong. but that's my theory.
  18. opening a new market for them (and AMD). it's really bad policy but the 15% royalty opens up China to US AI chip makers then here comes billions...
  19. your dogs are acting like you framed that pic of a snack but they never got it, as though you never feed them, and instead you ridicule them and laugh at them in a maniacal sinister laugh while only you enjoy your ill gotten steak rewards. shame on you @Bozo_Casanova
  20. no doubt a great throw. add Bama 2023 too. probably OU as well (not his fault our D couldn't hold OU). Go back and look at my posting during last season, I was team Ewers (and I knew who he was then). Whole body of his work at texas though - now that it's over - many more times than not looked like today. clutch throws then wtf.
  21. We walk Lakehurst Loop all the time and I’m jealous of some of those houses now that the water is back. Nothing better than a waterfront spot on a deep, quiet cove. I might have a mouse top water and some large poppers to go with the sinking line set up. Might give it a try this week.
  22. I deleted insta and fb a few years ago then added them for a fundraiser to locate some folks and get the party going, I got hooked back in, this summer on our way home from San Miguel I was worried about being stopped at the airport coming back in so I deleted most SM apps. I haven’t added them back it’s been 3-4 weeks. I’ll admit it’s been a burn, but I think at the 8 or so week mark the dopamine receptors reset (or whatever the mechanism is breaks) and I’m free again. I do have a work reason to check fb but I need to break free again first. I agree it’s a fucking cancer. I actually the the algorithms on our phones, apps, computers that predict what we like are one of the worst inventions of all time.
  23. Where I can fish there is no submerged grass (we are on the cliff side) unless I crawl way up in the back of the cove but that’s a good idea. I assumed with the heat the big ones are 10-20 feet down, so trying to entice them up with an injured bait fish pattern. I wasn’t trying that hard. I have some big as poppers if we take the boat out this week I might bring my rod with me, bee creek around the corner from us has a ton of submerged grass.
  24. As an exclusively fly fishing angler I gravitate to the masochistic ways of fishing and not catching. I rarely fish LT but I think two things are coming soon - night fishing off the back of my dock with my under water boat lights on, and the white bass runs in the winter up river on the Colorado.
