  1. I have a senior next year then 3 more years to go too. Ugh.
  2. I’ve said it plenty of times. I mean we need to roll back the dangerous shit going on now and there are plenty of social issues to care about but most everything the LGBTQ community needs (yes cisgender gay men too) is the passing of the equality act, that’s it. BUT it doesn’t have to be a top 5 issue it just needs to be taken care of when the opportunity comes. don’t campaign on it, avoid direct questions about LGBTQ folk and when pressed say some generic thing about everyone deserves an equal shake and then move on to billionaires taking from us. Then shift right back into economic issues. I’ve said this countless times. It’s not offensive. And if you knew me in real life you’d know exactly how strategic I am. I want the law passed not first billing or equal air time in a stump speech.
  3. it's too much guessing to know but 1 avoids 2 and 3 I think, that could be moderately useful in Omaha. otherwise the supers match up is a wild card, depends on who the 16, 15, and 14 seeds are (as you mentioned). enough unknowns that I don't care enough to care. as long as we are top 4 national seed our walk to the supers and even omaha should be relatively easy (key word relatively) even with our depleted pitching staff. only reason to rest guys is if they are fatigued or hurt, and those are much different than tired and needing a few days to recover. I trust he's got a pulse on all of that.
  4. I dunno, but the alternative is to blame POC and the queers, and sorry but that doesn't work for me.
  5. well I think they need to get real clear, blunt and aggressive in blaming corporations and billionaires and then advancing a platform that supports 325 million Americans, leaving the other 15 million to enjoy their gains without special privilege.
  6. ok this is finally getting productive. @linux I agree social media and ancillary online social platforms like dating are the scourge of the Earth. I do think when young men chase women with success their priorities magically start to realign in positive ways. I know I'm not the shining example, but once upon a time I was a royal fuck up, and snagging my first wife with charm and sophistication set me on a path of productivity and empathy that I still reap rewards from today. Keeping kids off social media - heck keeping humans off social media - would make the world of difference. None of this can truly be solved by politicians though the ban on SM for kids probably could be. You also said, "you can talk about culture war issues but frame it in an empathetic way, never in a bloodsport way." During the Obama Admin, I think it was 60%+ supported basic trans rights - even athletic competition - and that support was garnered because the language was humane and simple and communicated by one of our nation's greatest orators and he spoke compassion with that intonation that was distinctly masculine - it's hard to describe how Obama would do that man-to-man intonation but if you know what I'm talking about it's clear once it's pointed out to someone. Yes, though, right after marriage equality, the right went completely fucking nuts having lost marriage equality, doubling down and vowing not to lose the trans equality fight that they were already way behind on. sucks to be us now. fuck. we need that guy again to step up and say "come on guys, this is getting ridiculous." but then fix the problem and MOVE ON. @Hank Kingsley fathers absolutely matter. so much so that this trans woman has kept her fatherly role in tact, it's pretty fucking queer - but I guess to the outside it just looks like I'm a tomboy mom, but I father more now than I ever did before. I love them unconditionally, but I'm the one that drives them, I'm the one that teaches them what the world will try to take from them, I'm the one that requires excellence, I'm the one that makes it clear their masculinity means protecting others who can't protect themselves and for them to champion those who deserve recognition but can't get it without a white male champion. And guess what? While they do those things for others, these two young men have risen the ranks of their corner of the school with my soon to be senior the student leader of over 200 other students. My soon to be sophomore is the only sophomore in student leadership. Shocking when you truly lead, even the white guy can still be promoted, and promoted rapidly. @immamac I'm down with the bull moose party, thanks for sharing. I think Pete is a rockstar, but I am not convinced the radicalized young men are salvagable. I do think Pete and Bernie, even AOC, going on the podcast circuit and hopefully crossing over into the "manosphere" or whatever the fuck it's being called is great. That will certainly have an effect, but in the end I think you are advocating for the same thing I am... being defined by conservatives and chasing conservative votes is a disaster for us. Not sure the answer but giving into the farther left components of the democratic party - on economic issues primarily - is the only way out for the Dems imo. I'm happy to take a back seat (provided any permanent damage done by republicans on social issues is undone asap then refocus on economics). I agree citizens united is the worst decision of all time. Maybe young men who are all in trumpers will come around, I don't think so, but I do think there are plenty of young voters that can be energized to join a movement. Seems like getting those who communicate well - Pete, Berine, AOC out there talking to people about real issues is the way to go. Focus on economics, don't be afraid to be truly progressive, and speak to the conservative labeling and fear mongering with contempt and with rational explanations that go to the heart of what ails us - the corporate and billionaire stranglehold on our government. and if we do that, then there IS a seat at the table for everyone, white, black, brown, trans, gay, straight, men, women, etc. (and we pass laws to ensure we have a crowded table (obscure reference to The Highwomen song).
  7. how is Pete going to connect with young men who are full fledged trumpers at this point? Hispanics? Black voters? I mean I think he's fantastic. But how is that going to work? I think you are left leaning but with a sympathetic ear for many of these complaints, but I'm afraid most of the bickering among these younger men is not coming from sympathetic guys, but the exact opposite. How does Pete win them over?
  8. you're doing the same thing you blame others for. your tone sucks, you don't offer solutions, you just point and say see you don't get it. provide your solution set - how do you communicate with young men that don't share your values? should you even do it? my alternative is yes jump in the fray and prevent additional losses, but you can't change someone's values and you shouldn't change yours to attract them because you'll lose others. and before you say be strategic about it, there is a wide enough gap in values here that laying low on social / culture issues won't be enough, in the end the value gap is so wide it's not something dems can recover with many of these young men. so what's your strategic solution - how to you get from where we are to where you want to be? and what is the specific messaging that will resonate with this demographic and bring them to the democratic tent?
  9. the more I think about it, not sure this crew of young men was or will be salvageable - and I would love to be wrong - and welcome @linux @BurntOrange&White or @immamac views on it, truly. I think in addition to growing up with dads that are extreme trumpers, I think the fundamental problem is fundamentally different set of values. A poster well above alluded to it - how do you get through to a group of people that simply don't come remotely close to sharing your values? It's one thing for dems to code for trans rights or gay rights or anyone's rights - everyone deserves a fair shot - everyone ... that's easy to say, but what do you do when push comes to shove and legislation is proposed to actively harm others? That's where we are and these young men either don't give a shit, support it, or don't believe it (and with propaganda it's proven head on rebuttals with facts don't work well). That's untenable. To me the democratic party won't find more believers and followers wading into this group, though the dems certainly need to stop ceding ground in the online world. Instead the democratic party will win by engaging those on the sidelines who share their beliefs but are lukewarm, unaffected (currently), unmotivated and disillusioned. That's what the right did with young men. Dems have to find their way to their additional voters. To me, when 35-50% of the electorate doesn't vote, the answer is motivate more of your people to turn out. That is where the messaging needs to be, and it needs to be next gen on social media, youtube, wherever these voters are listening. <-- THIS IS WHERE THE DEMS SUCK. Secondly, when elected get shit done and brag incessantly about it. Biden got a LOT done and didn't say a word. And get the Manchins and the Synemas of the world the fuck out. <-- THIS IS WHERE THE DEMS SUCK. a truly liberal platform will appeal to many, many more than this dog shit crap for billionaires that Trump and co trot out. Biden started it but it was a decade or more too late. <-- THIS IS WHERE THE DEMS SUCK.
  10. from my Apple News scription…. On a knife’s edge re vaccinations. Our grandkids are in for a rough ride.
  11. I dunno about the prettiest girls. I like city women.
  12. I think AOC and Bernie on middle class economic issues is the future of the party. Real middle and working class politics. like my uncle used to tell my mom, someone in your income bracket should never vote for the republicans. Dems need that back but not in a center right sort of way. Again the social justice shit is easy, pass the federal equality act and it’s done. Given what the northern district of Texas just did, it should be an easy justification. Pass it, move on.
  13. I love the coastal bend area, just got back. San Antonio bay down to Baffin, heck all the way down to port Mansfield too. Serious trump country. I get along just fine with all of them. We talk fishing, sports and whatever. They hit on me and my wife at the bar when their wives aren’t looking. This weekend I had a guy flirt with me at H-E-B, he even touched my arm (it was a tad creepy). They help us when we need help. It’s fucking maddening how their politics do not match their day to day life when they don’t know the enemy is who they are interacting with, although if I whispered in their ear “I got the trans” they’d probably freak the fuck out.
  14. How do you win over young men who hate women, brown people, non-Christian religious people, and homos, trannies and other queers and blame them for their lady exploit failures and other problems all while they say they don’t hate anyone, please do tell.
  15. The trumpism is no longer a cult of personality, the guard rails are off on what a president can and can’t do. We will be here for a while. The toxic hate messaging isn’t going anywhere. At some point the people will wake up and realize living in a hate filled world is shit. But until then, we have to just … well…. To borrow from the black folk… “stay woke.”
  16. As for the cause, when are we going to see the left finance bot farms and algothrim manipulation to expose the billionaire class as the culprits of the problems facing all of us especially young men? You’re supposed to provide for a family yet globalization, raping the earth, taking tax dollars and paying billionaires, gutting programs that will help your family and shifting it to tax cuts for massive yacht owners? When will the democratic socialist nations of Northern Europe finance propaganda to influence our elections? The problem with the left is purity I agree, Al Franken was a fucked up situation, but the left isn’t in a position to engage as the right has because well, it goes against the very nature of who they and we are. i agree there needs to be a change in messaging and strategy but the playing field is not level and it’s not going to be. Doesn’t mean equality for all wont advance but it does mean when the republicans fight like rabid hyenas the dems are going to be at a disadvantage with those that are vulnerable to hate filled messaging.
  17. If young men would just to the simple things it takes to get laid that gap would shrink. Women have an uncanny ability to soften the male perspective. #undefeated
  18. Same with school boards. Believe it or not the “no balls in women’s sports” signs backfired in lake Travis this time. And we didn’t talk about trans kids. Liberals did turn out, and ordinary folk said “enough with the hate already” … you know what my intro speech is was? Every kid deserves a quality education and to be protected. From the football player with peanut allergies who deserves to be protected from hazing to the queer kid in theatre who deserves to be protected from bullying. Every child deserves the right to learn in a safe environment. I then pivoted to the hate and the poor example it sets for our kids, the naive claims they should DOGE the district and said education is where we begin to fix the mess that’s our country. Next thing you know we beat those fucking assholes.
  19. I also think at some point out right hate will go too far. But we will see. the other thing is, and history points this out, when white people think shits being taken from them, look the fuck out. Mean ass mother fuckers. Especially when in power.
  20. And the Overton window shifted a helluva lot more in Trump 1 and Trump 2 than anything gamergate did. we aren’t even pretending ethics matter anymore.
  21. I will agree equality probably moved too fast to avoid a backlash in the 1960’s for racial equality and in the 2010’s for LGBTQ equality. But to blame the backlash on those seeking equality is fucked up. some nasty people took advantage of young men who were already seasoned from their fathers and others who were vulnerable otherwise in online communities. They spread vile nasty shit, creating enemies out of women, people of color and queers. And some of the worst of it was blaming wokeness and radical leftists and feminism for why these dudes can’t get laid as if subjecting women to discrimination and control is how they will end up with a satisfied life of love and happiness. What the fuck ever. the backlash was inevitable, but the blame resides squarely on those who hate. learning from history we have to hope we can survive trumpism, and get to a better place because if we do, the reasons for passing modernized civil rights laws is clearly before us today. I think it will take a while and I’m not sure I’ll be around to see it, maybe maybe not, but the pendulum will swing back if we have a country remaining. the goal now has to be to hold back the worst. and for the love of god fathers on this board get your sons off their consoles and out into the real life world.
  22. Hate motivates. find someone better for the people to hate. But don’t blame me and my people for this shit just like we don’t blame southern blacks for attacks on the voting rights act.
  23. Republicans - Radical leftist, socialist, freedom hating, identity politics, anti-American, horseshit. democrats - everyone should have a fair shake and a seat at the table.
  24. I was one of the first to say rage against a villain and focus on middle class issues. It’s clear we are in an age of politics where a villain is required. Problem is the villain is the $250m campaign donor type. Trans issues are easy, pass the federal equality act and it’s over and done with (along with better protections for women and full protection gays). Stop campaigning on it, when it comes up whitewash it with some generic statement about all Americans deserve a fair shot at the American dream, and move on to crucifying the billionaire class and focusing on making life better for middle class. Stop with the threat to democracy shit, it’s the number one real issue but Merica is special it can’t happen here is too much to overcome. but failure to do these things isn’t the fault of some SJW on line twitter trans activist who says fucked up shit.
