  1. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t banner at the top used to say “same old assholes” or something similar? I don’t what y’all expected. This isn’t the Downton Abbey weekly episode discussion forum. 😀
  2. Dammit man. That sucks. My dad had bladder cancer and had to be infused thru the urethra every time, straight into the bladder. I hope you don’t have to have them mess around in there too much. But I do hope they can patch that hole.
  3. Not the Tang I was referring to but it does beg the question of what you would call a Tang and vodka drink. looks like some people call it the Buzz Aldrin
  4. I love Tang. Might not taste the same as what the astronauts use though.
  5. They lowered the screening age to 45. They need to drop to to 40 or 35. I was 39 for one day when I got diagnosed. It was pretty obvious I had already had it awhile. Hell, I think Chadwick Boseman was 38 or 39 when he was diagnosed Stage 3.
  6. Being a three-time survivor myself, I would be glad to offer him advice on what helped me thru the battle. I do have a problem donating money to a guy that had even a three-year NFL career though. I met a ton of people that had nothing during my time in the Texas Medical Center and would be much more inclined to give to one of them than a former professional athlete. I paid hospitals for twelve years so this request kinda rubs me the wrong way. But I do hope for the best for him and hope he can avoid side effects while kicking cancer’s ass and ripping its spine out like Predator. Fuck cancer.
  7. I remember the last launch in 1972. My aunt woke up my cousin and me really early and we watched it on whatever Corpus Christi tv station was airing it since we lived in that region. My plan at the time was to grow up and be an astronaut. I still want to grow up and be an astronaut. I’m not sure when that will happen.
  8. Speaking of being dirty in Mississippi… …wrap that thing up. This isn’t difficult. https://www.wlbt.com/2025/08/05/stds-are-rampant-mississippi-this-one-is-now-considered-an-epidemic/?outputType=amp

  10. Also, my cousins went to St. John’s with Wes Anderson. I still haven’t gotten them to admit that he’s an actual vampire.
  11. Spent a lot of time in the Rice Village area as a kid because my cousins lived on Bolsover just off Greenbriar. All these years later, my daughter lives in that area. She and her family can walk to everything they need except a big grocery store. And she hates dealing with the crowds at Whole Paycheck or HEB so she has her groceries delivered. Staying at her place is great. Hey, let’s go get Asian/Seafood/burgers/Indian/Israeli bakery food! No problem. It’s 3-4 block to all of it. So many good food options in Houston. She likes several places down along Hillcroft.
  12. Tribute is also a good watch. Jack Lemmon as a Broadway agent that has terminal leukemia. Divorced and estranged from his adult son. The ex-wife and the son and a gal Jack Lemmon’s character meets set up a tribute dinner for him while he is still alive. He can be honored and hear all the things people would say at a wake or funeral or memorial service. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, but when I got sick I did think about it a number of times. There is great value in what they did for him while he was alive. Hang in there. You’re going to a great place to be treated. My guess is the initial radiation appointment is just for them to get you measured and set up and get the freaking permanent blue marker put wherever they need to shoot the beams, or if there will be any radiation on your head, get fitted for a mask/helmet to wear during those treatments
  13. Look, jackass, a prominent and successful billionaire taught us this and used an example that is just basic science.
  14. Would like to see Brit Floyd in Houston tonight. They do a great job and are the closest thing you can get to Pink Floyd anymore. Schedule does not allow for it this time. It’s a bummer because there is a single on the second row near center that would be similar to where I sat last time, and that was a sweet spot to sit and watch some great guitar work.
  15. Sophia Lauren was quite the vision in her day.
  16. I have worked in a place that employs a number of PhD’s. In the beginning of my time there, I was always impressed when someone had that level of education. The shine is off. The human brain is only used by us to what, 20% of its capacity? Whatever the low number is that gets thrown around? My theory is that PhD’s have crammed so much knowledge into that 20% of the brain we use in order to excel in their field of choice, that something else was forced out. Common sense. The ability to perform basic maintenance checks on a vehicle. Simple bodily hygiene. How to make a sandwich. Not putting Dawn liquid into the dishwasher when you run out of Cascade so you don’t turn your kitchen into a scene from Mr. Mom. That sort of thing. Anymore, when I meet a PhD, I judge them in a way that asks the question “what has your brain given up to reach this level?” M.D.’s are susceptible to this. For God’s sake, there have been instances where someone went into the hospital to have a leg amputated, and they took the wrong leg. You can make it a lot more easily with one leg than with none. But no, they still had to go back in and take the other one. The absolute worst are the rare M.D./PhD. My daughter works for UT Health in the TMC. Her former boss was an M.D./PhD. His family had to have paid someone to give him those degrees. He’s an idiot. The staff had to babysit him to make sure he doesn’t try to use research grant funds on $2500 bottles of wine or $15k Christmas parties for the staff. Rant over.

  19. Indonesian! Those poor kids.
  20. It was pretty crazy how the Sire was just ready out of the box. Even still in tune. The wife and I were out running around this evening and we swung by Guitar Center and they had a Reverend. I’ve never tried one so I checked it out. It played nice, but I’m kind of a snob on how a neck and fretboard edges should feel after having my Sire S7V. It’s ruined me. So it’s not just Fender.
  21. I went to school with Ron Paul’s kids. One of them was a trainer/equipment manager back in the day. Don’t bring up the Texas/Miami Cotton Bowl around him. He still gets seizures from that experience. Ron Paul used to jog by my house. I definitely know what’s a Libertarian and what’s not. Oh, and Rand was Randy back in the day. Nobody called him Rand or even considered calling him that.
  22. I recognize that but I don’t think that’s the one I remember from 50 years ago.
  23. She is probably responsible for more deaths than Thanos.
  24. A proper Gen X early childhood included the following on a sick day home from school: - Sesame Street, with Mr. Hooper running the store. Annoying Elmo had not yet been created - The Electric Company, with Morgan Freeman in the cast - some kids show Spanish. Callas Colendras or something - Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green jeans and bunny rabbit dropping ping pong balls on a guest. Also, Dolly Parton guested once - The Price Is Right with Dianne Parkinson in all her glory, which was on CBS, but I ain’t sticking on PBS for “Sit And Be Fit”
