  1. Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it as I’m still trying to figure out where I stand with my drink problem. I typed out two longer responses but deleted them because I find the messaging on this subject a bit difficult. At this point, I don’t want to drink, am not tempted to drink, don’t have triggers, do not need to “take it day by day” or need to utilize a number list because I’m having some sort of drink-related meltdown. My stress level is down from a constant 9 to a 1-2 and that alone is well worth giving up booze. I realize I may relapse, fall into old drinking habits and be miserable again. I’ve certainly read and heard many such stories. So for now I’m just going to keep on being sober and keep on trying to figure things out. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
  2. Yeah, I had pre-surgery chemo and my pre-surgery CT showed 85-90% reduction. I had a total mesorectal resection, which means they chopped out 90% of my rectum and some other gobledygook including 45 lymph nodes. Path report came back completely clean - I was cancer free and remaining treatment was cancelled.
  3. I'm only 80-something days in and have heard this repeated at meeting but is it necessarily true? I can't find any underlying cause or condition to my drinking. I just like being a little bit drunk every night. I enjoyed the last night I drank before saying adios on December 2.
  4. Can someone please, please cut Noah Brown???
  5. Lordy so I hate the sorry ass Texans. Can’t watch the Cowboys at the same time. My pirating skills suck. Fuck the Texans. I hope they relocate to Scranton.
  6. Has this thing been sorted and blown over yet?
  7. Sounding more and more like a late night game of charades that was misinterpreted by a nosy neighbor.

Nice of Wilson to just give up on that play. Don’t worry about finishing dipshit.
  10. Went to my PCP and talked things through. He gave me some Librium. Tonight about 10:00 will be the 72-hour mark and everything has been fine. I’m embarrassed and kicking myself I didn’t try this sooner. I was scared of withdrawal and, more than that, failing. So I just kept kicking the can down the road. I know there’s a long, long way to go but the first step has been good. I’ll be at a meeting tonight, will not drink today, and wake up tomorrow without a hangover.
  11. Bruin, I’m on the other side of your problem. I got rectal cancer in 2017 and went through chemo, etc. oh and they removed some important parts of my asshole system and said I might be having issues for the rest of my life. I ended up with no permanent issues and was recently discharged from my surveillance program. Just keep on doing what they tell you to do. I’m put together a bit different than I was five years ago but am otherwise the same dumbass fellow. Good luck with the surgery!
  12. These Kansas guys are assholes.
  13. * “no evidence of metastatic disease”
  14. I was Basil Your Face on the old site and told you fools when I got got stage three butt cancer in 2017. Had surgery and chemo and a bunch of other stuff. The surveillance window is five years for me. I have an appointment with my primary care cancer doc on Tuesday to discuss the CT scan I had last Wednesday. For reasons I can’t fathom MDAnderson decided to send me my results in advance - “no evidence is metastatic disease.” I’m done. Recurrence chances now are the same as anyone else getting it in the first place. Patient number 2144027 (a number I’ve repeated hundreds of times and will never forget) will be discharged. Cancer sucks but is often won. Cheers. Bijan fucks.
  15. Nah, you’re a loon.
  16. You of you guys are batshit insane. And angry.
  17. On their political board they use the term “feral culture” when they’re aching to drop a n-bomb.
  18. Only Guido’s I know is in Cozumel.
  19. That’s good to hear. Thanks. I will do this. I will be attending my first AA meeting in the near future.
  20. Thanks everyone for the advice. Some of the assumptions are off but the underlying story is the same. I’m scheduled to enter rehab 1/4. I’ve never been through a medical detox or whatever comes after it - all I know is I get bent out-of-my-skin if I don’t get my fix. Any advice on what detox is like? And I know that’s a loaded question that may not be answerable. I have nightly cravings but don’t day drink. I don’t have day cravings and don’t get smashed in the blackout sense. But come 5-7 at night that demon is there and demands some drinks, every night. I think I’ll try some AA meetings. Any recs for west Houston?
  21. Oops double.
