Whaddaya think, @Mittens? Create a new post or keep this four-year-old, barely-four-pages thread going? Supercup with your Stuttgart vs. Bayern in another couple of hours.

Pokal is now in full swing and the Bundesliga starts next week, so we've got some action to start filling the gap before Ohio State. Seems your old stomping grounds have their club going just a day after Stuttgart another 10 days from now.

Just watched fourth-tier Illertissen beat second-division Nürnberg on PKs in the Pokal.

Second division already two weeks in. Bielefeld and Darmstadt are at the top of the table with two other 2-0 teams just behind them.

I say keep this one going.

in New Braunfels watching the game with the VfB Central Texas supporters group. The Bayern folks are at the next table.

Leverkusen takes an early lead on Hoffenheim at home, but now down 2-1 in the 67th minute. Frankfurt winning its first league game with Jonathan Burkardt, taken away from my 05ers. Bayern München, of course, gets the six-goal opening day win yesterday and heads the table.

Again. But at least we're here, and it's one more week until the other football really gets started.

TSG are obviously an unstoppable blue nightmare for the league this season.

It is true that your team team's undefeated season looks promising, especially since it has played only top-notch opponents on the road and defeated all. But it has given up a worrisome season-long average of 59 percent possession. Whereas my team has yet to allow even a single possession or completed pass by the opposition, whether at home or on the road.

Didn't get a chance to watch yesterday, so I'm about 75' into the Stuttgart-Union Berlin match.  I don't know what we're missing, but I feel like it isn't all that much.  Tons of possession, some fairly quality shots on cage (and some shit, from some of our better players), and nothing to show for it.....edit: beauty of a G  from Tiago Tomas in his club debut at 86' - a heel kick half scorpion.  FCU GK did make some high quality saves, tbf.  Ton of yellows in this match.

FCU has a new striker, Ilyas Ansah, a 6'4" Ghanaian/German who scored 2 absolutely class goals on debut.

Multiple away kits this year and the black w/ gold look pretty fuckin slick.

Went to Stuttgart this summer to visit a German amiga from when I was taking Spanish courses in Buenos Aires 18 years ago.

My friend works at Mercedes Benz and she, her husband, and I went to the museum…

…and across the street from the museum was Stuttgart’s stadium.

Oh wow - I had no idea of this:

Quote

SV Wehen Wiesbaden is a German association football club based in Wiesbaden, Hesse. The club was previously known as SV Wehen but added Wiesbaden to its name during the summer of 2007. They left their previous ground, the Taunusstein, that same summer and have played at the BRITA-Arena ever since.

Taunusstein is just outside of Weisbaden - think Kyle or Pflugerville.  It has a main town, but also has like 10 smaller towns as part of it.  I lived in Taunnustein-Wehen in 9th grade, and most of my friends lived in Taunnustein-Orlen.  Could ride my bike over there, but it was sketchy - 6 miles of 2 lane road.

The new arena is directly adjacent to the Hainerberg complex - one of the American military communities.  You can see our commissary, high school, middle school, theater, and all those long red roofs are housing - stairwells, as we called them. Note all the state names for roads.

Damn man, I've been down the wormhole looking at everything on maps.  Lotta good memories in Wiesbaden.  Got to 3rd base for the 1st time in that theater, and lost my virginity in Orlen (same chick).

I have the same pics from my trip in 2019, plus the Porsche museum.

I only went to the Mercedes museum because I had been told that it was the superior of the two, plus… my friend (and her husband) wanted to go to the Mercedes museum because she has worked at Mercedes for ~11 years and had only been once… with their son when he was young and they spent the entire time trying to keep him out of trouble rather than looking at the exhibits.

Returning to Stuttgart and then heading to Munich was a consideration, but it didn’t happen. If it had, I would have gone to the Porsche & BMW museums respectively.

Next time. Maybe around Christmas Market time. Vamos a ver
