Thank you so much for providing all these updates - it is most appreciated!  As an avid general fan, but not an educated fan across all individual sports - this type of insight is super!  Thanks and Hook 'em!

When time allows I try and keep up with it, as have been a participant/fan for a long time. It's a great sport and UT has a long tradition of excellence. Happy to see the program succeed.

As @BRLA said, thanks for all these updates. Lots of work on your part but saves everyone else a step. Wish T&F were more popular in the States.

Yes; thanks for posting that! I think that Kristine Blazevica also set a record in the Indoor Pentathlon as well, breaking her old mark of 4,402 points with 4430 a facility record as well. Currently she is in the second spot nationally behind Allie Jones of USC.

Latest USTFCCCA poll is out (Week 6)

MEN

1. Texas Tech

2. Arkansas

3. NAU

4. Florida

5. Washington

6. USC

7. Texas

8. Nebraska

9. Alabama

10. Houston

The Longhorn men's team stayed at #7 and for the most part the other teams flipped around some but not a lot of movement. Texas Tech went back to the top spot, but they had a very good Big 12 meet, while Texas struggled in some areas. Washington has no national leaders, but they do have top ten marks in multiple events which is what is keeping them high scoring. After Texas, the scoring drops off quite a bit...

WOMEN

1. Arkansas

2. Florida

3. Texas

4. OSU

5. Oregon

6. Ole Miss

7. USC

8. Washington

9. Texas Tech

10. LSU

Arkansas has outdistanced everybody at the moment, but the Longhorn women are hanging tough. They moved back up the rankings (#7 last week) due to a stellar Big 12 Championship team win and it will take at least that much and then some to grab the Indoor title.

Lists for qualifying are due sometime later today.

Did Leo not do the Hep at the Big 12 because two weeks is too close to participate in two multi events?

Good question. Perhaps, but also if he was able to qualify in individual events there's more potential points to be earned. If an athlete qualifies, the coach can review the list and scratch if it doesn't look like it will work or is worthwhile (I think). The hep would be ten points and he's number one in that right now, but making the finals in two more events could gain the team anywhere from one to ten more points per event, not including specialists who would likely place higher. For example, in the long jump, he placed first so that was 10 points, while *Jathan Belaire placed second for 8 more points. If he was able to do that at Indoors, that's 20 points just for Neugebauer. Shotput wasn't as successful, but I also don't know if he's working through some things. Neugebauer was already a likely qualifier for both the LJ and the Hep, and ultimately it could be that Coach Floréal is looking toward national more than conference along with an athlete's health. Earlier it was mentioned that this is an Olympic year and thus, a long season that can be very hard on the body.

*Jathan Belaire's 7.67m in the long jump, while good, is probably not high enough on the qualifying list at this time to make the cut.

The start lists for the upcoming NCAA DI Indoor Track Championships are out. Barring medical scratches, this should be complete. I'll list the Longhorn athletes along with a few other schools that have competitive team numbers for comparison. If UT has no entries in an event, again, I will list a few other entries (usually top five ranked, a school in Texas, or top athlete based on mark). Comments--The reasoning behind listing some of the higher ranked schools number of qualifiers is, as you can suspect, each of those entries represents the possibility of points. While individual schools can throw a wrench into the works, the more athletes that one has in prelims, the greater chance to move on to the final and score. A lot can happen, however, and track meets are like a 3 ring circus with a little something to watch wherever one looks. Best of luck to the competitors and hoping for a lot of records to fall and personal bests earned.

From the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, outdoor world record holder Ryan Crouser has a new title to add to his collection: Shot Put Indoor Champion. With his best toss of 22.77m setting a championship record, Crouser earns first place and receives a little redemption from two years earlier when he set a championship record toss of 22.44m only to be bested by Brazilian Darlan Romani with 22.53m.

Way to go Ryan Crouser!

Jeremiah Nubbe of Texas will be competing. He has the fourth best seed time.

Then on Friday, the events begin in earnest with a slate of heptathlon events, numerous prelims, plus a few distance finals.

Great job by Neugebauer in the heptathlon to finish off the indoor season. Tech and Arkansas were tough to challenge for the team title; had a lot of athletes in a lot of events and the points just kept going up.

The women's events are just getting underway, hopefully will update later this evening or tomorrow.
