  1. Probably already discussed but this thread moves fast. In Tulsa there is a very unique siren that indicates that the Arkansas River is expected to rise suddenly. It’s very different than a tornado siren and only sounds along the river. Is that in place along this river? A phone message of “flash flood warning” is pretty general although arguably people on a river should know it affects them directly. Either way a river siren seems like it would be the most effective warning for people to head to higher ground. Is that a thing in Texas?
  2. Stanford is unique in valuing Olympic sports as much or maybe more than football. They would utterly dominate any lower level league in those sports to the point of lacking any genuine competition. Academic snobbery is still the primary reason they won’t join the Big XII imo, but it’s also true that the average ACC school sponsors more Olympic sports than the average Big XII school (I think). And while the Big XII sponsors a lot of sports some are weird amalgamations of affiliate schools that feel really odd. That could also have played a role in their decision.
  3. Yeah let’s denaturalize and deport a candidate because you don’t like him. Just normal politics. Total derangement syndrome if you think it’s a problem. Those boots must taste like candy. “Drive by post….” lol, every accusation…
  4. Wait I thought you said the voters get to decide? If NYC elects a democratic socialist as mayor to implement change in that city don’t you support their right to do so? Of course not because you’re a lying sack of shit who only cares what your dear leader says.
  5. It only seems weird because it’s relatively recent. If the story of Jesus was invented today and people started believing it they’d be considered loons too. A baby born of a virgin is human but also god who’se also his father so he’s his own dad but begs himself to save him from execution and denies his own request, oh and he’s also a sacred ghost, and so on and so forth. Christianity was in fact considered a cult for more than 300 years until Emperor Constantine thought it was cool.
  6. The Big 10 only says that because it was already that way not the other way around. The schools that were members for a century were large well funded institutions and had AAU status when shit started blowing up. They proved it’s flexible when they took Nebraska who was already on their way out of the AAU. If a lesser academic institution was in the neighborhood with massive athletics media value they’d take them in a heartbeat that just doesn’t exist up there.
  7. I honestly didn’t know he was still alive. He’d be a senator today if he was in his prime.
  8. They lost that status last season when they only had 2 members and I don't think they'll get it back based on the new additions. So as it sits they are not part of the autonomous (i.e. power) conferences and I doubt they would even try to regain that status.
  9. It’s the very real reason Stanford and Cal are playing on the other side of the country and not the Big XII.
  10. Whenever that was, he’s still a bitch.
  11. Thanks. Stupid complicated but that makes sense. If SGA is still at the top of his game when he hits 10 years would he extend at 35%?
  12. Can someone explain to me how this works? Why is one max 2 years and another 4? And how is the MVP/World Champ worth less per year than Booker? My only memory of Booker is of him being a pouty little bitch in last years playoffs while getting punked nonstop by Luka.
  13. I think they’re taking the show too serious. The Easter episode is the only one that made me laugh multiple times throughout. The rest are interesting but not all that funny. It’s just different now.
  14. It’s not this site it’s society. FFS, the President can’t even commemorate Memorial Day without a cloak room rant. Everything that happens in this country is under that microscope. Good luck pretending news can be just news anymore, lolz
  15. The first part sounds really stupid, I don't see La Tech turning down more money and prestige in the Sunbelt by voluntarily staying in the zombie Conference USA because of a beef with a nearby rival. Wouldn't it be the other way around that ULM would try and convince its partners to reject a rival? And no way the Sunbelt poaches AAC, especially Memphis. The money is still better in the AAC as is the prestige despite the Sunbelts recent football success. Memphis is staying put unless they can get an ACC or Big 12 invite. The renovated Liberty Bowl stadium might help their cause.
  16. I guess Texas is out of the Sunbelt altogether, the only team left is Sam Houston, and I don't think they are Sunbelt worthy. Sounds like La Tech or Western Kentucky. My guess in WKU, there's likely a reason La. Tech is always left behind.
  17. If it was a setup to harm his football career he should sue back but the lack of evidence and the he-said, she-said nature of these things goes both ways. The more common story is that his football career is harmed, she starts getting threats, and drops the case. It's an unfortunate reality. Nobody except them two will ever know the truth.
  18. They'll expand it first to include any show with a gay character. Then any show that conservatives don't like for any reason. There's no stop to this.
  19. It’s still very wordy and has gotten cheesier and more predictable but I like these people and am enjoying the show. Just finished S4 E7.
  20. I mean you and your condom buddies are the ones who destroyed the conference, kind of disingenuous to be bitching about what happens to what you left behind. (no criticism of the decision, money is money).
  21. I think that's just message board stuff. The administrators making the decisions are just looking at the money. If they can make more by excluding others they'll go that direction. If not, they'll be fine with the status quo.
  22. The FCS games are for early season warmups or for SEC a November rest week. There are other matchups every week for TV purposes. The networks know the ratings will be low for those games, they would be the ones pressing to stop them if it was a problem.
