  1. The new thread title needs a little winkie at the end. there are no Epstein files
  2. I found footage of the most recent cabinet meeting.
  3. I mean Alex Jones and the Magafucks know Trump is on the list, a bunch. I assume they feel deprived of their typical plan to explain his away and go to town on democrats and liberal celebs? “He was there for the snorkeling but Clooney definitely fucked some kids.” It never made sense other than just words. My guess is that they found out quick that every accusation is a confession and that a ton of righties were on there and very few libs.
  4. The bold is where it falls apart for me and I think has it backward. You say that it makes sense if you are a believer, but the question in my mind is what objective basis is there to believe this particular version of religion? Most religious people abide by the religion they were born into and learned from birth. Where it really started to fall apart for me was the question as to why I was supposed to believe that Catholicism was correct and everyone else was wrong, especially when it comes to the billions of people who were raised non Christian like Judaism and Islam, and even moreso for non Abrahamic religions like Hinduism and Buddhism. There is simply no rational basis to believe that one is correct over another. I have since leaned more into religious study as a historical issue, including its role in shaping society and culture, and am convinced it has done more harm than good overall. In today's America, it's not even close considering how many religious people are full of hatred and vitriol for fellow humans which is the complete opposite of how I learned the teachings of Jesus which objectively, on the whole, is pretty good, love they neighbor, welcome the stranger, turn the other cheek, etc., etc.
  5. Meanwhile Dez Bryant had lunch with Deion Sanders having nothing to do with Oklahoma State or competetive advantage and was suspended for his final fucking college season. I can't wait for the NCAA to finally be burned to the ground so I can piss on its ashes. And fuck johnny foosball and the secsecsec cheaters who never faced any fucking consequences for actual cheating.
  6. The Barenaked Ladies parody made me laugh. I preferred the Vindicators as a super hero parody but a lot of people hated that one too so I guess I'm just weird.
  7. Saw this in the other thread. Is "flash flood warning" in this area understood to mean that the rivers are going to overflow their banks and to take higher ground? In my area "flash flood warnings" are pretty common and are understood to mean that intersections are likely to flood and to not drive through them but do not implicate the Arkansas River exceeding its banks. If that is at issue, which is once or twice a decade, the warning specifically mentions the river, and the NWS robot voice says specifically to head to higher ground if you are near the banks. To me that is really is the question. Was "flash flood warning" sufficient or should it have been more specific? My experience is that it should be more specific.
  8. They blamed democrats for fires in California because librul. Blame floods on republicans in Texas because maga. The high road has failed. This is ‘murica now.
  9. This very much lines up with the belief that religion was created by the rich and powerful when most of humanity were slaves, surfs, servants, etc., whose lives were dogshit. It gave them a reason to just keep doing the shit work with no path to earthly prosperity because it’ll be totally worth it after you die, often from being worked to death.
  10. Yup, it's "low tax business friendly government is bad" bullshit. ou get what you vote for.
  11. Sounds to me like a other old timer who can’t fathom compensating players and is old enough to just retire.
  12. I appreciate that they finally confirmed that the president is on the list, is a pedophile, that he was blackmailed, and that Epstien didn't kill himself.
  13. I did not like the ending especially if it was meant as a possible season finale. Also don't get the Syd hate, her character is supposed to be somewhat neurotic, and the annoying parts are just unrealistic stuff that pops up in all sorts of tv shows, like her not reading the partnership agreement for months, and Carmen sending her the updated agreement without telling her first what he was planning to do, as though she'd just read it and accept it without bringing it up? Go to her with that stuff directly in a serious conversation, I get her anger in that situation. She's also not the only character to get an episode about a side journey. I enjoyed that episode along side the others.
  14. I'm fine with this, I just wish this was how it was preached. I was at my aunt's funeral last week, she was very devout Catholic, we did a Rosary, full mass, etc. I haven't attended Catholic church in more than 10 years except for family stuff when necessary. I got the feeling that the prayers were to help those in the room feel better during a tough time and I appreciated that part of the ceremony. I just hate that its not taught that way and that religious people especially in the US not only act so shitty to each other but expressly mention their religion while doing so. The last Catholic church service I attended was my neice's confirmation a few years ago. The priest included a lecture on how they will be persecuted for their beliefs and called outcasts for standing by them and to be strong. This was of course directly related to signs all over the lobby to vote against a state constitutional amendment on abortion rights. The last Catholic service I volutnarily attended included a recorded lecture from the Bishop not so vaguely urging support for a state constitutional amendment on fetal "personhood" which of course means anti-abortion. It made me physically ill having to listen to that bullshit in both circumstances. The US Bishops Association (or whatever its called) is pubicly supportive of laws in Oklahoma allowing for taxpayer funded Catholic charter school. Fuck all of it, bunch of fucking charlatans.
  15. The accusation makes perfect sense to me, DEI scapegoat. https://www.kut.org/life-arts/2019-07-24/a-conversation-with-joel-baker-austins-first-african-american-fire-chief
  16. In Tulsa there is a river rise siren that uses a cadence that sounds very different than the tornado siren. It means leave the river bank for higher ground. I’ve only heard it a couple of times and the first time I had to google what it meant. They should probably do more education on it tbh. They also apparently have a nuclear attack cadence from the tornado sirens that I’ve never heard and is never tested.
  17. Well, bye
  18. Probably already discussed but this thread moves fast. In Tulsa there is a very unique siren that indicates that the Arkansas River is expected to rise suddenly. It’s very different than a tornado siren and only sounds along the river. Is that in place along this river? A phone message of “flash flood warning” is pretty general although arguably people on a river should know it affects them directly. Either way a river siren seems like it would be the most effective warning for people to head to higher ground. Is that a thing in Texas?
  19. Stanford is unique in valuing Olympic sports as much or maybe more than football. They would utterly dominate any lower level league in those sports to the point of lacking any genuine competition. Academic snobbery is still the primary reason they won’t join the Big XII imo, but it’s also true that the average ACC school sponsors more Olympic sports than the average Big XII school (I think). And while the Big XII sponsors a lot of sports some are weird amalgamations of affiliate schools that feel really odd. That could also have played a role in their decision.
  20. Yeah let’s denaturalize and deport a candidate because you don’t like him. Just normal politics. Total derangement syndrome if you think it’s a problem. Those boots must taste like candy. “Drive by post….” lol, every accusation…
  21. Wait I thought you said the voters get to decide? If NYC elects a democratic socialist as mayor to implement change in that city don’t you support their right to do so? Of course not because you’re a lying sack of shit who only cares what your dear leader says.
  22. It only seems weird because it’s relatively recent. If the story of Jesus was invented today and people started believing it they’d be considered loons too. A baby born of a virgin is human but also god who’se also his father so he’s his own dad but begs himself to save him from execution and denies his own request, oh and he’s also a sacred ghost, and so on and so forth. Christianity was in fact considered a cult for more than 300 years until Emperor Constantine thought it was cool.
  23. The Big 10 only says that because it was already that way not the other way around. The schools that were members for a century were large well funded institutions and had AAU status when shit started blowing up. They proved it’s flexible when they took Nebraska who was already on their way out of the AAU. If a lesser academic institution was in the neighborhood with massive athletics media value they’d take them in a heartbeat that just doesn’t exist up there.
